Who hid My Corpse!-Chapter 67 - : Fifty-six Visas! Speak up!
Chapter 67: Fifty-six Visas! Speak up!
“Matthews, are you ready? We’ve got quite a haul today.”
Ulu emerged from the room of the Night Crow and immediately bumped into two other Night Crows. They were all wearing masks, making it impossible for any of them to see one another’s faces. One of them, who seemed to be the leader, greeted Ulu as if he had been waiting there for a long time… More accurately, he had been waiting for that now-deceased comrade.
This was the fourth “colleague” Ulu had killed so far, and it was his most skilled and ruthless one yet.
All of this was naturally under Bai Wei’s command. Ulu was very curious to know why Bai Wei was so knowledgeable about the Rhein Divine Sect’s most mysterious Night Crow unit, not only knowing their location but also the name of one of them. He even knew when to enter, when to push the door, when to kill, and what to do afterwards.
Everything was calculated by him.
If it were any other day, this would have made Ulu feel fear and apprehension, but today, at this moment, he did not want to think about too many questions.
...
There was only one thing he wanted to know.
Just one thing.
“You’re quite silent today,” the leader of the Night Crows observed surprisingly, looking at the speechless Ulu, but then he nodded his head, “Well, that’s good too. Our line of work should be less noisy. Get ready, and let’s set out.”
Ulu and the remaining Night Crow both nodded, then followed the leader out of the dormitory.
Night Crow Knights.
The most special existence within the Rhein Church, known to all, but wished by all not to encounter.
Because those pitch-black crow masks symbolized death.
And so, the three crows silently made their way through waterlogged alleys, the heavy boots that should have sounded dull now made crisp noises as they stepped on the water.
But the passersby were not reassured by this crisp sound; they moved aside one after another, those with children hastily holding them in their arms, afraid that a misstep would cause an unwanted encounter. Thus, they smoothly passed through streets and alleys, quickly arriving before a small chapel where a priest was already waiting for them.
“Good morning,” said the priest, greeting them, “The weather is truly dreadful, isn’t it.”
“If you know the weather is bad, don’t waste time,” the leader of the Night Crows spoke in a hoarse voice, which became even more eerie after passing through the thick mask, “How many?”
“I have five here,” sighed the priest lightly, not knowing whether he was sad about the death of five people or bothered by the increased workload, Ulu tended to believe the latter, “Follow me, let’s get this done early and not be delayed by those noisy folks.”
The three Night Crows followed the priest, and after about ten minutes, they arrived in front of a household.
The priest pushed the door and entered, and Ulu, following behind him, saw a coffin.
Inside the coffin lay a middle-aged woman, her body covered with white flowers, but not many, just like the relatives inside the room.
“Lord Priest, you’ve finally come.”
“We’ve been waiting for you for a long time!”
“Do you remember me? You helped me with a medical issue last time, the medicine you prescribed was very effective!”
The relatives surrounded them immediately, bombarding the priest with one comment after another beside him.
It didn’t seem at all like a funeral.
The priest had to raise his hand to stop these “enthusiastic” relatives: “Okay, okay, let’s start early. We can talk about other matters later.”
“Of course, of course, the formalities are more important, indeed.”
Through his mask, Ulu watched this scene with a cold gaze.
Honestly, he was not unfamiliar with such scenes, as he himself was a priest who was responsible for conducting the masses for the deceased in Bedan Town. From the beginning, as a small follower by Lu Ji’s side to later taking charge, he had seen many things, but he hadn’t expected… that Somo City would be the same.
No different from Bedan Town, whether it be the priests or the relatives.
He shook his head, casting these thoughts from his mind, and then, under the direction of the leading Night Crow, the three approached the coffin.
Ulu didn’t know what he was supposed to do, and Bai Wei hadn’t told him anything, only that he should follow the other Night Crows.
So they stood by the coffin.
Only then did Ulu notice the small figure behind the coffin.
There was a boy, leaning against the coffin, with his head buried in the crook of his arm, his shoulders shaking continuously, clearly crying.
In that instant, Ulu guessed the relationship between this boy and the woman in the coffin.
Even though he had seen too much of such scenes, a sorrow that was beyond words surged up at that moment.

He subconsciously wanted to step forward and lift the boy up, but the footsteps that followed made him calm down and he stood still.
The one who entered was a priest, who apparently knew of the little boy’s existence. His face was full of pity, “Ah, poor child, don’t be sad, we will let your mother rest in peace.”
With that, he carried the boy out.
Then came the Mass.
Three Night Crows stood quietly around the coffin, doing nothing, like bodyguards for the priest.
This puzzled Ulu, but he didn’t show it.
The Mass ended quickly, the priest once again picked up the boy, walked out of the room where the coffin was placed, and came before the crowd of relatives, “Mrs. Fess has returned to Rhein, and her husband also passed away unfortunately three years ago, so I must ask, is there a relative willing to take in this poor child?”
The relatives who had come to the funeral looked at each other, but not a single person stepped forward.
Ulu watched this scene in a daze and suddenly heard the voice of the team leader, “Matthews, what are you dazed for? I’m going to retrieve it.”
He was momentarily stunned, and then saw the Night Crow leader take out a small black box and walk toward the corpse’s head, while another Night Crow stood at the foot of the coffin, seemingly blocking the view for the leader’s actions.
Ulu followed suit, standing on the other side of the foot of the coffin, but he stood sideways, in such a way that he could catch the leader’s movements with his peripheral vision.
He then saw the leader place the box near the corpse’s ear, mutter a few words in a low voice, and a black bug crawled out of the ear and smoothly entered the box.
Ulu’s eyes widened.
Meanwhile, there was new movement from the priest.
“Is there really no one willing to take him in? What a pity.” The priest sighed softly, “If that’s the case, this child can only be taken into the embrace of our Lord. Don’t worry, child, be brave, you will become a person like me.”
Ulu turned his head abruptly and saw the priest gently cradling the boy’s head, that scene… just like twenty years ago.
In that moment, Ulu felt as if he had realized something. He looked again at the bug being retrieved and then at the priest and the small boy, his body trembling uncontrollably.
“Visas!” Ulu asked in his mind, “Did my mother die because of this?”
“Is this why they had to kill my mother?!”
“Visas!”
He roared in his mind, his voice hoarse with exertion.
“Talk to me, Visas!”
“Tell me, did my mother die because of this?!”
“Visas!”
But no matter how loudly Ulu called, Bai Wei was just silent.
As silent as the dead in the coffin.
