Who Cares About Him When I'm Married to the Richest Man?-Chapter 2: She and I Are the Real Family
Elara Hale’s heart ached, shattered into pieces.
Two years of sharing a bed, Mason Jacobs probably never understood her.
Decency... Wasn’t she decent enough? When their marriage had problems, she tried to save it. From start to finish, she wanted to resolve the issues between herself and Mason Jacobs. She never dragged Cecilia Quincy into it.
If she truly wanted to make it difficult for them, there were countless ways to make their lives miserable.
If she didn’t get a divorce, Cecilia Quincy would remain the mistress, forever despised and shunned, never able to hold her head high.
But she didn’t choose to do that.
Instead, she chose to let go and complete their relationship.
Now that the divorce was finalized, Mason Jacobs was still afraid she would come back to entangle them.
It made her want to laugh and cry.
Suddenly, a hand reached over and held hers.
A man’s deep voice rang out, "Is this your lousy ex-husband and his shameless fling?"
Like a beam of light pulling Elara Hale out of her sadness, she couldn’t help but be taken aback.
Zion Fitzwilliam glanced at Cecilia Quincy, his expression complicated, "Not much taste, huh."
Cecilia Quincy’s eyes immediately reddened.
Mason Jacobs’s face suddenly darkened, coldly staring at Elara Hale, "Telling outsiders about family matters casually, is this your attitude? Apologize to Cece immediately!"
Cecilia Quincy hurriedly said anxiously, "Mason, I’m fine, don’t make things difficult for Elara."
Mason Jacobs looked at Cecilia Quincy with a heartache, "Cece, I won’t let you suffer a bit because of me."
Then he looked at Elara Hale, his gaze much sharper, "Apologize to Cece, or this won’t be over."
Elara Hale stood facing Mason Jacobs. He was tall, strong, and intimidating. She was deeply bowed her head.
Opening her mouth, she closed it again.
Mason Jacobs wanted to stand up for his beloved girl. What could she say?
She was just an ordinary person with nothing to her name. Was she going to go against the entire Jacobs family?
Just as she was about to force herself to swallow her bitterness and settle the matter, the man beside her suddenly reached out and pulled her behind him.
"I said those words. The apology should come from me."
Zion Fitzwilliam looked at Cecilia Quincy, his deep voice carrying a touch of inexplicable amusement, "Sorry, I thought that doing so many things to your face meant you were dissatisfied with your looks. If I offended you, then my apologies."
"I...I didn’t..." Cecilia Quincy immediately teared up, "I’ve never done anything to my face, I naturally look like this..."
Mason Jacobs hurriedly hugged her in his arms, softly comforting her, "I know, our Cece naturally looks as beautiful as a flower."
Cecilia Quincy immediately started crying pitifully.
Mason Jacobs held her, eyes burning with anger, "Elara Hale, come here! What kind of thing is he, daring to meddle in our family matters? If you don’t give Cece an explanation today, don’t blame me for not considering our past!"
Zion Fitzwilliam firmly held Elara Hale in place. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Raising his eyes to look at Mason Jacobs, he smiled playfully, "Family matters? Elara has already divorced you. I’m her fiancé, and she’s family with me now. Please have some respect."
"Fiancé?" Mason Jacobs’s anger and astonishment clashed, "Elara Hale, we just divorced! When did you start with him? Did you cheat on me?"
"I didn’t!"
Elara Hale’s eyes reddened inexplicably, unable to hold back anymore, she stepped out from behind Zion Fitzwilliam, "Do you think everyone is like you? In this marriage, I’ve been true to you and the entire Jacobs family. Don’t throw mud on me!"
Mason Jacobs’s gaze turned cold, "What did I do wrong? I also have the right to pursue true love. You agreed to the divorce, is it appropriate to talk about this now?"
Elara Hale gritted her teeth, trying to hold back her emotions, not wanting to cry.
Cecilia Quincy’s eyes were still red, worriedly saying, "Elara, I know it must be hard on you after divorcing Mason. I feel guilty too. But no matter how upset you are, it doesn’t make sense to marry someone randomly for a lifetime..."
Beside her, Zion Fitzwilliam suddenly spoke in a deep voice, "Expressing guilt after stealing her man, acting superior as a mistress?"
Cecilia Quincy’s expression instantly froze.
Mason Jacobs was about to get angry, but Zion Fitzwilliam interrupted him, his tone slightly impatient, "Another explanation? Don’t make things difficult for a girl. Ask me for it, here’s my business card."
He took out a business card and handed it to Mason Jacobs, "Whatever you need to discuss, we can talk about it later. Don’t delay our lucky moment."
After pausing, he chuckled, "No matter what, thank you for divorcing Elara. If you’re not busy, wait till we’re done with our marriage certificate, and we’ll give you some wedding candy."
With that, he turned and walked away with Elara Hale.
Mason Jacobs was dumbfounded, watching the two walk side by side into the marriage registration room.
Elara Hale, she really dared?!
Cecilia Quincy felt miserable, "Elara really does blame me after all. Otherwise, why would she marry a stranger like that?"
Mason Jacobs’s face turned steel-blue, with a sudden cold laugh, "You know how stable she is, how could she possibly flash marry a stranger? She’s probably been hooked up with that man for a while!"
Such a cheap woman, he had actually developed feelings for her over these two years!
He looked down at the card in his hand, which read, Aethel Insurance Sales Specialist, Zion Fitzwilliam.
Involuntarily exerting force, he tore the card and threw it into the trash.
Nothing but an insurance salesperson!
Mason Jacobs sneered contemptuously and called his assistant on his phone, "Arrange a meeting with the boss of Aethel Insurance. See if he’s available for a meal with me."
He’s determined to see what waves these two scoundrels can stir!
In the marriage registration room, Elara Hale and Zion Fitzwilliam signed their names and faced each other to take their vows.
Once, Elara Hale thought the vows here were sacred, that breaking them would be a curse from the heavens.
Now.....
How many of those who spouted "Love each other till old age" truly meant it?
Leaving the civil affairs bureau, she and Zion Fitzwilliam each held a red booklet.
Though just married, they were still unfamiliar with each other, Elara Hale politely asked, "I have an interview later, will you head back yourself?"
Marrying a stranger on a whim wasn’t what she had done.
The child’s only grandmother she supported for three years had passed away, leaving the child in the orphanage. She had always been preparing adoption procedures. Even though she divorced Mason Jacobs, she wasn’t giving up on this.
For adoption, above all, this marriage certificate was crucial.
Additionally, moving out from the Jacobs family home, she was temporarily without a place to stay. Zion Fitzwilliam had a small apartment in the city, perfect for her urgent needs.
As for Zion Fitzwilliam, he’s not considered a real man; he’s gay and pressured by family to marry due to age. He also needed a marriage to ease the pressure.
Last night at the bar, they hit it off perfectly.
Zion Fitzwilliam gave her a polite smile, his attitude equally reserved, "The insurance company is holding an event today, I took a leave to come out, I’ll head back to work soon."
Elara Hale, already aware of his occupation yesterday, nodded at his words, "I’ll head out then."
She quickly boarded the bus, unaware of the man long watching her back.
Only when the bus completely disappeared into the distance did he retract his gaze, opened the marriage certificate, and looked at the two names side by side, his lips curled up slightly.
No one knew how long he had waited for this day.
