Who Cares About Him When I'm Married to the Richest Man?-Chapter 17: We May Not Lose
She asked in confusion, "Why are you looking at me like that?"
Zara winked at her, "Your sham marriage husband?"
Elara explained, "He’s going to sleep soon, afraid I’ll have trouble opening the door when I get back, so he called to ask when I’ll return."
Zara said meaningfully, "Not necessarily."
Clearly, he was worried about her being out late at night, yet pretended to be concerned she couldn’t open the door.
Gay people don’t handle things like that.
Even "Zion," yikes~ gross, even little zeros don’t like such names.
Elara didn’t catch the deep meaning in his tone and joked, "Or maybe he’s a chainsaw killer just waiting for me to open the door and kill me?"
Zara looked at her carefree smile and shook his head in amusement, forgetting it, he decided not to remind her.
She just got divorced, finding a guy to play around with is pretty good.
They soon arrived at the apartment complex where Zion Fitzwilliam lived.
Zara calculated in his heart, the market price for apartments in this area is over thirty thousand per square meter, a small two-bedroom apartment is at least sixty square meters, costing around two million, and reportedly without a mortgage, this man has decent worth.
Even as a salesperson, as the sales champion of a company, his income must be high, now he only worries this man doesn’t pick up the bad habits of sales.
Prostituting, heavy drinking, and the like.
Thinking of this, Zara earnestly advised Elara, "I don’t care about anything else, you must remember, if you get intimate, you must take protective measures, if he doesn’t wear protection, let him go, understand?"
Elara was puzzled, "Huh?"
"Alright, go back!"
Zara hurried her out of the car, and drove away.
Elara was baffled, wondering what was wrong with him?
At the door, she took out the key to open it, the key just inserted into the lock, and the door was opened from the inside, Elara was stunned, looking at the man at the door, "Not sleeping yet?"
Zion Fitzwilliam was in casual homewear, wide shoulders and narrow hips, he wore the loose clothes well, and he lifted the cup in his hand at her words, "Came out for a drink of water, happened to hear movement."
He suddenly paused, discreetly observing her, "Been drinking?"
Elara explained while changing shoes, "Had a dinner gathering with two girlfriends today."
Zion nodded expressionlessly.
As long as it’s not drinking to drown sorrow, it’s fine.
Elara greeted Zion and went for a shower, when she came out, there was a bowl of sweet soup on the table, with a note beside it, "Leftovers from dinner, drinking it can help you sober up, or you’ll feel uncomfortable in the morning."
The handwriting was strong and neat, very beautiful, Elara smiled, lifted the sweet soup, and while drinking thought touchingly: He’s so thoughtful, like Zara, probably also a zero?
After drinking the sweet soup, washing the bowl, Elara finally went to sleep.
In the main bedroom, the tall man sat at the desk, the desk was simple, but his presence made it seem much more noble.
He listened to the sound outside, only when it quieted did he breathe a sigh of relief.
Probably too tired, Elara fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.
The next day, she got up, freshened up, just finished cleaning up when she heard the door open, Zion Fitzwilliam walked in with breakfast, "Awake? Eat first."
Elara nodded, "Okay."
Today is the court day, soon she’ll go to the courthouse, Elara felt heavy-hearted, actually not having much appetite.
But to present herself with vigor, she had to eat well.
Zion glanced sideways at her, the silence was too obvious, he asked, "Worried about the lawsuit?"
Elara didn’t deny it.
Zion said, "Don’t worry, we can win."
His voice was steady and reassuring, though knowing he was comforting her, Elara still smiled, not wanting to disregard his kindness. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Today’s lawsuit is highly likely to be lost, by then, we’ll see how much the compensation will be, she can’t really get nothing, see if she and Zion can discuss splitting it in half.
Her half still needs to be put on IOU.
After breakfast, they took a taxi to the court.
Just stepping up the long stairs, not yet inside, when an unkind voice sounded from behind, "Elara Hale! Stop right there!"
Elara froze on the steps, turned around, and saw the Jacobs Family.
Rosalind, Kylie, Mason, and Cecilia were all there, with two lawyers and two assistants, quite the entourage.
In contrast, she only had Zion Fitzwilliam by her side, appearing thin and helpless.
Rosalind glared viciously at Elara, sneered, "You really dare come, suing our Jacobs Family. Haven’t you looked in the mirror? Really think finding a pretty boy makes you invincible? Don’t cry for us to spare you when you lose!"
Kylie glanced indifferently at Elara, said to Rosalind, "Why bother with her? She’ll find out her worth in court soon enough."
She personally came today, just to watch Elara’s joke.
Mason watched coldly without any comment.
Instead, it was Cecilia, showing a look of concern for Elara, advised, "Elara, you can still change your mind, apologize to Aunt now, maybe there’s still room for change..."
Elara looked at the satisfied Jacobs Family, it’s impossible not to feel hurt, these were the family members she once treated sincerely, now they were opposing her in court.
The pain in her heart was suffocating, but probably having prepared for the worst, she was instead without many concerns, she softly spoke, "Before the trial, no one can guarantee the outcome. We won’t necessarily lose."
After speaking, she pulled Zion Fitzwilliam, turned, and walked inside.
She didn’t want any more entanglement with these people, but the other side wasn’t willing to let her go easily, Rosalind took big steps forward, forcing Elara back, aggressively said, "Elara Hale, what are you arrogant about? You think you and your pretty boy can really go against our Jacobs Family? What a joke!"
Elara bit her lip, she wasn’t as spicy as Rosalind, nor had Esther Carter’s sharp tongue, but even if in a weak position, she remained determined, "We won’t necessarily lose."
"I see you’re just being cheap! Trying to get my brother to look at you in a different light with this, so stupid!"
Rosalind, with a cold face, raised her hand to hit.
In her eyes, Elara, married into the Jacobs family for two years, was meek and submissive, even more humble than the servants. Rosalind didn’t take her seriously, hitting and scolding her was as simple as drinking water.
However, halfway through reaching out, before hitting, her hand was tightly grasped by a force like an iron grip.
Zion Fitzwilliam’s expression turned slightly cold, his dark eyes filled with pressure, staring at Rosalind with a calm yet intimidating voice, "Miss Jacobs, since Elara divorced your brother, she has nothing to do with your Jacobs Family anymore. Are you trying to get charged with disorderly conduct by acting out at the courthouse entrance?"
Rosalind struggled hard, but Zion’s hand didn’t move an inch, she felt her wrist about to break!
"You’re mad! Let go of me!" Rosalind was furious, gritted her teeth threateningly, "You better not mess with me, or I’ll make sure you and Elara can’t survive in Kyros!"
