Chapter 153: Chapter 153: Since I Can’t Forget

The sports car sped toward Seaside City. The group planned to enjoy themselves all night, as a farewell before Brother Yan and Kanzi went abroad.

Chen Jin, who had not been here for a while, stretched to relieve his stiff joints and turned to look at the back seat. "There’s a billiards place on the third floor run by a relative who opened it recently. Should we guys go show some support later?"

"Sure, Old He is good at that."

"Last time at Dayu, even when the owner brought out his prized beauty, Old He still managed to beat her hands down. If it weren’t for the fact that Old He was still a student, that beauty would’ve—"

"Enough is enough."

Xu Kanfeng became more excited as he spoke, while He Qingzhou coughed uncomfortably next to him.

Even he didn’t want to bring up those past events. What was the point in rambling about it?

The car was noisy, and every ten minutes, the window on the left side of the driver’s seat would lower, letting in the hot air. Chen Jin always found himself glancing at the person next to him.

Pei Yan’s fingers rested on the steering wheel, a freshly lit cigarette between them, his gaze lazily fixed on the rearview mirror as he backed into a parking space.

They couldn’t help but notice that ever since the boss had returned from Jinggang, his smoking had increased daily, nearly reaching the level it was at before he quit.

Seeing Brother Yan like this, they absolutely didn’t believe he had really gotten over Sister Yao.

In previous years, he smoked to control his irritability. Now, the smoking was probably more about numbing himself.

All was silent until the sports car turned off, and Xu Kanfeng was the first to push the door and get out.

The four of them took the elevator to the third floor. The billiards hall wasn’t very big, taking up only half the floor.

As they passed a tattoo shop next door, Chen Jin couldn’t help but whistle and pat Xu Kanfeng’s shoulder in front of him. "Kanzi, look, doesn’t that beautiful owner look like a celebrity?"

He couldn’t immediately recall the celebrity’s name and pulled out his phone to search for a photo.

"Stop searching, she used to be a celebrity," He Qingzhou reminded from the side.

Then they all suddenly remembered. Wasn’t she the one who had risen to fame two years ago thanks to a major director’s drama, playing the second female lead? Her endorsements had been all over the streets and alleys at the time.

Reportedly, after offending a bigwig in the film investment industry, she was put on ice by her agency for half a year, and then this young woman actually held a press conference to announce her exit from the entertainment industry.

Unexpectedly, burdened with a huge penalty fee, she had opened a tattoo shop in Seaside City.

Falling from the clouds into the mire—what a pity for such a beautiful face.

Chen Jin, always weak against beautiful women, felt that meeting her must be fate. Just as he was about to take out his phone and approach her, he realized someone had already stepped into the shop ahead of him.

The three exchanged looks.

They had no idea when Brother Yan had become interested in tattoos.

Business coming through the door, the woman at the counter didn’t show much enthusiasm.

Wen Lin lifted her head indifferently to glance at the four men, then buried it back in her work.

The shop was simply decorated, exuding toughness everywhere, making it hard to believe it was run by a woman.

As Xu Kanfeng wandered around, eyeing the sample designs on the walls, an idea suddenly struck him. "Why don’t we all get one too, kind of like the sworn brothers of old?"

"I’ll get the Azure Dragon, and you get Xuanwu, okay?"

"Xuanwu is okay. I’ll get a big one; you get a small one, and you can call me grandpa."

"I’m older than you, so it should be the other way around." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Then you call me grandpa first, and I’ll—"

As the two joked around, Pei Yan’s calm voice arose from behind them.

"Provide a design, and tell me how much you can reproduce."

He was addressing the shop owner.

For the owner, providing bespoke designs like this was practically a custom job.

Wen Lin’s shop was small, barely a year into business, and this was potentially her biggest deal yet.

She extended her hand to Pei Yan, "Let’s see the design first."

Chen Jin and the others also looked completely baffled, thinking to themselves what kind of strange hobby Brother Yan had, carrying tattoo designs with him?

The room was silent, and several pairs of eyes stared blankly as Pei Yan walked over to the counter and placed his illuminated phone in front of the shop owner.

On the lock screen, the exquisitely fair side profile of a girl so beautiful it took one’s breath away.

The resolution was not very clear, as if it had been taken unintentionally by the phone’s owner.

Wen Lin slowly looked away and after a moment of silence, asked him, "Where do you want it tattooed, and do you have any size specifications?"

The three stoic brothers behind were extremely curious, stretching their necks long but still unable to see clearly what it was.

Chen Jin sneakily peeked over, his face full of bafflement.

Then he said, "The boss is too busy to take any more, let Brother Yan go first while we wait."

Let’s wait.

In a little while, when the general outline appeared, the reactions of Old He and Kanzi would no doubt be even more spectacular.

Don’t think of him as just a former star; when he handled the tattoo equipment, his movements were both professional and adept.

All afternoon, Chen Jin hovered around the woman, claiming he was helping, but in reality, he had already unlocked his phone countless times, trying both overtly and covertly to add her to his WeChat.

He Qingzhou and Xu Kanfeng, however, were quiet.

The two played several rounds of Fight the Landlord out of boredom, eventually both turning their heads to watch Chen Ergou flirt.

At that sight, Xu Kanfeng was completely stunned.

Holy shit.

Brother Yan this...

He Qingzhou couldn’t remain calm either and subconsciously unfolded his crossed legs, sitting up straight.

The game noises paused, and the room suddenly became much quieter.

Chen Jin looked up to see their stunned expressions and couldn’t help but clear his throat.

Tentatively, he asked the man in front of him, "Brother Yan, are you really going to Los Angeles?"

The boss had let them see without cover, suggesting that some topics were probably open for discussion.

From his shoulder blades to his lower back, the tattoo covered two-thirds of Pei Yan’s entire back.

The shop owner was skilled; within just an hour, the side profile of the girl became progressively clearer.

Pei Yan sat shirtless, his lean back exposed.

The dense piercing of the needle into the skin felt more like a spiritual tribute and cleansing for someone being tattooed for the first time.

He held a cigarette in his mouth, his eyes closed, with only the buzzing sound of the needle by his ears.

After Chen Jin asked that question, the air fell into a long silence.

The three of them watched quietly, thinking the boss wouldn’t answer anymore, that is, until the coloring began, when they heard him speak in a hoarse voice.

Bright red sparks fell to the floor; the hazy smoke obscured his expression.

The youth’s voice was too low, too calm, carrying a cold breath into the air, attracting an extra glance from Boss Wen.

Chen Jin and the others were a bit too far to hear, and showed puzzled expressions.

Upon leaving the tattoo parlor, Seaside City was already lit up with neon lights.

Knowing they were coming, the pool hall had reserved a VIP room early.

As He Qingzhou made his third shot, he came up beside Pei Yan, and as he pushed his cuestick, he whispered, "Brother Yan, if you can’t forget her, just go back to her. Whatever you need to do, we’re all behind you."

Pei Yan sat by the pool table, quietly smoking.

When he heard He Qingzhou say ’can’t forget,’ he smiled faintly.

Forgetting someone is easy.

If he truly wanted to.

But did he?
