When Will My Childhood Sweetheart Marry Me?-Chapter 121: Audit
Jiang Shuyao’s spirits lifted in an instant.
Soon after, the rest of the class also began discussing the matter.
"No way, is the school really bringing over that bunch of troublemakers from class two to attend our class? Can we even have a proper lesson?"
"Haha, if we can’t have a proper lesson, let’s just enjoy the show. The next math class is going to be really exciting."
What initially seemed like a ludicrous event, upon closer analysis, turned out to be something everyone was actually looking forward to.
Boss Pei was famously notorious in Yunzhong for stirring up trouble. People’s impression of him always revolved around fighting and causing mischief, and no one had ever seen this bully studying in a classroom setting.
Jiang Shuyao included.
"Yaoyao, between Old He and Boss Pei, who do you think will win?" Tang Xing couldn’t hide his excitement, his eager little eyes eager for the drama gave Jiang Shuyao a headache.
Pei Yan, used to his arrogance, naturally wouldn’t take the teacher seriously.
But he had changed quite a bit recently, and she was willing to believe that he could control himself.
The bell for class rang, and class six immediately went silent.
Almost at the same time, the math teacher walked in through the front door and stepped onto the podium with the textbook in hand.
Ten seconds later, two figures appeared at the classroom door.
Everyone’s eyes turned to them, their first reaction being that these two would walk in with swagger.
But what happened was unexpected.
Xu Kanfeng stood upright and called out his report.
The math teacher nodded and let them in.
"Class Two students, please choose your seats; you may sit in either of the open aisles and temporarily share a desk with a student from class six."
Class six had no spare desks, so this was the only arrangement for now.
Xu Kanfeng immediately approached Tang Xing with a beaming smile, "Scholar Tang, take me under your wing."
Due to Jiang Shuyao, Tang Xing had already become tight with Chen Jin and a few others.
Rarely called a scholar, she felt delightfully smug on the inside, but outwardly she remained composed and warned, "Don’t cause any trouble."
Xu Kanfeng was also one of the top students in class two, plus his family insisted that he must get into a university. With the opportunity to learn in the advanced class, causing trouble was the last thing on his mind.
He flashed Tang Xing an assured look before turning to look at his boss standing in the aisle.
Huh? What was Brother Yan pondering?
Going to Sister Yao, of course; there was no need to even think about it.
The students of class six watched with wide eyes, waiting to see where Boss Pei would choose to sit.
The tall youth was close to one meter ninety, and nearby students had to look up to see him.
His face was calm, the corners of his eyes radiated coolness under the light, and his well-defined, large hands holding textbooks hung by his side, making his whole presence remarkably tall and imposing.
Many girls quietly blushed.
Class six and class two had clear distinctions, and there was almost no interaction between them. Even if they encountered this bully on campus, they’d only dare to take a quick glance from afar.
Now, observing him up close, his masculine and wild nature, along with his sharp and prominent features, made them think that Pei Yan was even more handsome than those fresh-faced idols on screen.
Even standing silently, he had a certain allure.
The girls at this age were sensitive and shy.
If Pei Yan had a good reputation at school and didn’t have those rumors of violence, probably the number of girls boldly expressing their interest in him could line up from the classroom to the school gates.
Five minutes into the class, the math teacher was ready to start the lesson.
Jiang Shuyao, who had been staring at her textbook, finally couldn’t help but lift her eyes. She had waited long enough without any reaction from him, so she bit the bullet and softly said, "Pei Yan, sit here."
The girl’s voice was soft, instantly capturing everyone’s attention.
Everyone was surprised, not expecting their class prodigy to extend an olive branch at such a moment.
Aside from the members of the special study group, hardly anyone knew that Jiang Shuyao and Pei Yan knew each other privately.
What shocked them even more was that Boss Pei, without a word and compliant as a grandson, picked up his textbook and walked over to the seat next to the prodigy sister.
The casual demeanor carried a fitting sense of rightful assurance.
It was like... like a couple with perfect understanding, where one speaks, and the other follows unconditionally.
Cough, a couple, how could that be.
Let’s not insult the goddess of our Class Six like that.
Half of the class passed amidst everyone’s unspoken fantasies.
Perhaps to accommodate the two new students, the math teacher abandoned her usual enigmatic teaching style, and this class taught each point in an exceptionally clear and straightforward manner.
The kids from Class Six rejoiced at this teaching revolution, hoping eagerly that every class would allow them to listen in like this.
It saves them the brainpower otherwise spent on teachers’ half-understood explanations they’re left to puzzle out on their own.
In the last ten minutes, the old math teacher assigned a few practice problems, basic and advanced, which they could do before leaving the class.
The classroom was very quiet.
Jiang Shuyao held her pen and slowly worked through the problems on her draft paper, seeking eye-contact confirmation that her neighbor could keep up after each step, displaying a small teacher’s patient demeanor.
The young man bent over, his knitted brows highlighting his current anguish.
The formulas were like arcane runes to him, forcibly inscribed into his brain, and it felt like his grey matter was muddying.
This was also the first time Jiang Shuyao truly realized how weak Pei Yan’s basic knowledge was.
Without exaggerating, his level was merely at middle school.
There wasn’t enough time left, and the remaining problems couldn’t be finished today.
Jiang Shuyao organized her class notes, including the detailed steps to solve the practice problems, and copied them into Pei Yan’s textbook.
She instructed him, "Make sure to review this when you have time, do the calculations yourself, and if you don’t understand, just take a photo and ask me on WeChat."
The girl’s earnest and responsible manner caused Lu Chen to space out momentarily.
For the first time, this model student envied Pei Yan’s ignorance.
The three of them sat together harmoniously, listening to the full forty-five minutes of class.
More ironically, he hadn’t absorbed a word during the entire class, as all he heard was the girl’s soft and detailed explanations to the person on the other side.
Sometimes Lu Chen wondered, if Pei Yan had met Jiang Shuyao at the same time as him.
As outstanding as she was, what kind of choice would she have made.
But alas, there were no what-ifs in this world.
Jiang Shuyao’s attitude toward Pei Yan puzzled and surprised the Class Six students.
Only later, in bits and pieces, did everyone find out that the two were childhood friends.
They couldn’t help but be impressed that not only was the goddess great at studying, she was also tight-lipped.
They had been in Yunzhong for almost half a year, yet the nature of their relationship had been kept so tightly under wraps.
One was the top of the grade, and the other was at the bottom, yet it turns out these two extremes were childhood friends; without her saying it, truly no one would dare think in that direction.
After returning from Class Six, Pei Yan spent almost every break working on those practice problems.
Chen Jin watched on dryly, somewhat questioning his existence.
"For some reason, I’ve been feeling restless lately."
He then turned and asked He Qingzhou, "Old He, do you feel restless?"
