When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 607: Apologizing on His Knees
"Let me see." Faye Turner snapped back to reality and got up to stand beside him again.
Adrian Lancaster pulled her by the waist, letting her sit on his lap. Then he reached backward and turned on the light, opening the video message he had just received on WeChat.
The surveillance footage wasn’t very clear, making it impossible to see the woman’s face. But judging by her walking style, she carried herself with grace, likely wearing high heels.
Soon after, a few clear photos of the woman were sent to his phone.
Then Dustin Shepherd called in, "President Lancaster, we’ve found photos of Claire Keller. Found some of her old friends, and these were cut from group photos. Sent them to your WeChat."
"Alright, thank you for your hard work. Don’t just think about working overtime, you’re a married man now, spend more time with your wife," Adrian Lancaster spoke earnestly. The marriage had been urged on, naturally, he also wished happiness for him.
From the other end of the phone came Serena Sutton’s sweet, playful voice —
"We’re having a candlelit dinner! He’s spending time with his wife! But President Lancaster, for extra work like finding someone, shouldn’t you give my husband a raise?"
"What? Can’t afford baby formula and diapers?" Adrian Lancaster chuckled, "Tell him to keep up the hard work, and when the baby turns one month old, I’ll send him a big red envelope!"
Listening to these words, Serena’s face turned red, "What are you talking about? No baby, no baby! You can rush anything, but you can’t rush for a baby! I’m hanging up!"
The call ended, and Faye Turner and Adrian Lancaster exchanged glances.
He asked her, "Honey, do you think... Dustin and Serena are a good match?"
"There’s no such thing as totally perfect couples in this world," was Faye Turner’s reply, "So they all need to adjust. It depends on whether they’re willing to make sacrifices for each other."
"Hmm." He nodded, feeling very fortunate.
Adrian Lancaster opened the photos Dustin had sent over, checking them one by one with her.
The woman in the old photos was very young, around thirty, and quite graceful.
When they saw her face clearly, Adrian Lancaster and Faye Turner froze for a moment — they had seen this woman in Gale Peterson’s album.
She had taken a photo with Caleb Lancaster... At the time, she seemed unremarkable, but never thought she had this special identity.
Now, looking closely at this woman again, apart from noticing her grace, they discovered nothing else.
So, the most critical thing now is — find out her whereabouts.
And Adrian Lancaster had already arranged for someone to investigate this.
"Don’t worry, the truth will come out," Faye Turner gently reassured him, "I believe our father is still alive, and the truth will be uncovered. One day, all the bad guys will be caught."
Adrian Lancaster didn’t have such faith because it had been too long... but he hoped for it.
On the same night.
Brandon Lancaster’s car was parked in The Lockwood Old Manor’s courtyard. He returned alone.
He got out of the car, slammed the door, tightened his scarf, and stepped forward on the snow.
"Master, Brandon is back."
In the study, the butler came to report.
At this moment, the old man was holding a brush, bowing at his desk, writing quietly with a stern face. He didn’t look up or respond, as if he hadn’t heard the butler’s words.
The butler was very perceptive and, after waiting a while, stepped back and turned to leave.
Downstairs, the butler explained the upstairs situation to Brandon Lancaster. Brandon thought for a while and walked straight upstairs.
But with every step he took, a tinge of anxiety grew in his heart, as if he sensed something unusual in the air.
Yet, he still arrived at the study door, glanced at the old man writing, and didn’t knock. He braced himself to step inside.
Standing a meter away from the desk, he spoke with respect, "Grandfather, I was wrong."
"What was wrong?" The old man continued writing, his voice cold and deep, as if he had anticipated his visit.
Brandon Lancaster pulled off the scarf around his neck, tossed it aside, then knelt with his head bowed, back straight, sincerely admitting his mistake —
