Chapter 573: Chapter 573: Confession

As thoughts drifted away, she stepped out of the elevator, and as she exited the company lobby, a familiar car caught Serena Sutton’s eye, causing her to pause.

Dustin Shepherd, who was in the driver’s seat, saw her and promptly got out of the car.

He walked around the car and approached her, "Just got off work?"

It was already ten o’clock in the evening.

Serena met his gaze, still not fully recovered from the surprise, "Yes." She nodded.

She couldn’t understand why she would encounter him here; hadn’t he clocked out much earlier?

Was he waiting for her?

It seemed like it, but she dared not speculate; after all, there was no formal confession, and they weren’t an item.

When Dustin stood in front of her, he appeared to have a blank moment too.

But he quickly snapped out of it, "Oh, right." Then he turned and opened the passenger door, pulling out a bouquet of flowers and bringing them to her.

"For you." His lips curved into a smile, gentle and warm.

Serena was slightly stunned as she stared at him, unable to distinguish whether it was a dream or reality. She reached out to take the flowers, "Thank you."

"Hop in!" He held the car door open, "Your car is still at the shop; it’s too late to call a cab. Let me drive you home."

She dazedly nodded, took a few steps forward, and bent into his passenger seat once again.

Sitting in his passenger seat, smelling the scent of flowers, she couldn’t shake a certain curiosity—

He clearly was off work already; had he come specifically to pick her up?

Had he been waiting downstairs for a long time?

However, she didn’t voice these questions, choosing instead to hold the flowers and sit obediently, knowing that some things he’d express naturally when he was ready.

"Are you hungry?" Dustin asked after driving a short distance, darting a glance at her.

At this moment, Serena was waiting for his confession!

Flowers were given, and she was picked up—only to be asked if she’s hungry???

"A bit." Not mentioning it didn’t make her aware, but when brought up, she was indeed a bit hungry.

"Are you mindful of your diet? Do you often eat late-night snacks? What do you usually eat?" Dustin inquired with curiosity, seeking to know her better.

"I don’t tend to gain weight, so when I’m hungry, I eat anything."

"What would you like to eat now?" He was willing to take her anywhere.

"I’m easy; just something to fill the stomach." Serena turned to him, offering a gentle smile.

Truthfully, it’s never about what you eat but rather who you eat with.

Having him pick her up tonight made her quite happy.

Then, Dustin took her to a sophisticated western restaurant in Argent, a place he’d reserved earlier; otherwise, the chef would have been off work at this hour.

In this romantic, upscale restaurant, he’d arranged a candlelit dinner for her, presenting her with a surprise.

"Miss Sutton, would you be my girlfriend?" Dustin sat across from her, in the dim light, gazing at her tenderly.

Serena laughed, "Everyone’s already had the wedding candy; the news is widespread. Wouldn’t it be awkward if I refused?"

"Yes, indeed." Dustin didn’t tell her that the candies were bought by President Lancaster; at this moment, he actually had Adrian Lancaster to thank.

"I really didn’t expect you to hand out wedding candy. It’s not like we’re getting married." Although her words were teasing, she was secretly delighted.

Dustin also didn’t foresee President Lancaster being such a prankster! And wary of him competing for Faye Turner!

In reality, Adrian Lancaster had even more tricks up his sleeve, though Dustin hadn’t realized it.

After dinner, Dustin showed no signs of sleepiness, telling her, "With no work tomorrow, I’d like to take you stargazing tonight."

"Stargazing??" The girl was slightly startled.

"Yes, atop a mountain 1800 meters in elevation, an hour’s drive away. Are you afraid?" Dustin’s romantic side suddenly emerged.

Serena found it amazing; going stargazing this late was peculiar, but joining him made her very happy.

"Not afraid." She reached her hand out to him.

Dustin took her hand, "Shall we? Let’s head to the supermarket first and pick up snacks and drinks you might want."

"A soft drink."

"Okay!"

Then she leaned against his shoulder, happily leaving the restaurant with him.
