When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 1056: Another Good Husband Who Spoils His Wife
"Wh-what’s the matter?" Faye Turner saw a hint of seriousness in his expression and blinked.
"It’s a secret." He responded with a smile.
It seems he wasn’t planning to reveal it tonight, and she decided not to press further.
Adrian Lancaster had already dried his hair, and he quickly lifted the quilt and pulled her close to sit inside.
Actually, Faye wasn’t used to such contact, she felt a bit like refusing.
His arms were strong and seemed unlikely to loosen, "I used to hear the phrase ’peace is a blessing’ and found it hard to understand. Isn’t peace part of everyday life? Living like this every day."
His incredibly gentle and emotional voice gradually drew her thoughts in, making her eager to listen further, with no desire to break free or leave.
"I used to think that great wealth and luxury were blessings; having cars, houses, power, and influence were blessings. Only now I understand that in one’s life, how many clearly and obscure paths one must traverse, how many various storms big and small to overcome..."
Faye quietly leaned against his arm, listening intently as he spoke—
"Having family safe and sound, living together until old age, and passing away relatively peacefully, without too much pain, is such a rare thing. That’s why peace is a blessing, and this blessing is so weighty."
After speaking, with tears in his eyes, he once again took her hand, bringing it to his lips for a cherished kiss.
His Faye had finally returned safely, and he still felt the happiness like a dream.
Faye slowly turned to look at him, witnessing him gently close his eyes as a sparkling tear rolled down his cheek.
It landed right on the back of her hand, causing her heart to momentarily startle, her eyelashes trembling slightly.
Faye’s heart was suddenly filled with indescribable choking and sadness. She felt apologetic but didn’t know what to say to him.
Until she gently withdrew her fingers from his palm.
Adrian Lancaster thought she was angry. When he opened his eyes to look at her, there was a hint of fear and apology in his deep gaze.
Yet she raised her hand to gently wipe away the tear marks on his face, a gesture that astonished Adrian Lancaster, leaving him feeling unexpectedly cherished.
"From now on, no more tears," she spoke softly, then extended her hand gently around his waist, resting her cheek against his firm chest, "I’m back now, I won’t leave again."
Even though Faye didn’t remember him, she still said such words, which both shocked and deeply moved Adrian Lancaster.
Reaching out to embrace her, silence spoke louder than words at this moment.
He was truly restrained, behaving gentlemanly without touching her, because he also considered things from her perspective.
Adrian Lancaster would only give her a sense of trust and safety, and so that night, the two spent another peaceful night together.
The next day, Chase Fletcher drove Rachel Sherman over.
Adrian Lancaster was naturally delighted, leading Faye Turner out to greet them, "Your good friend is here, her name is Rachel Sherman."
Watching them get out from afar, she corrected, "That’s my brother and sister-in-law."
"..." Only then did Adrian Lancaster realize he was already family with The Fletcher Family.
"Faye!" Rachel Sherman, upon seeing her, wore a sincere and joyful smile. With her pregnant belly, she quickened her steps in flat shoes.
Faye instinctively reached out to her, and the two sisters embraced on the lawn. Though she didn’t remember, it was etiquette.
Chase Fletcher handed the bag in his hand to Adrian Lancaster, then said with a cheerful smile, "I’ll leave now, I’ll come to pick her up tonight."
"Alright." Adrian Lancaster repeatedly promised, "Don’t worry, I’ll arrange for someone to take care of her."
Rachel Sherman released Faye and turned to wave at Chase Fletcher, "Hurry up and go! There’s still a meeting in the morning!"
"Okay, honey, take care of yourself. You can call me anytime, whether it’s something or nothing."
"Brother." Faye looked at him, remembering that when Grandma visited The Xavier Family in the past, they also went, knowing he’s Aunt’s son.
But this way of calling made Chase Fletcher somewhat unaccustomed. He smiled at her, "Just call me Chase." He didn’t say anything else, his eyes full of joy for his sister’s homecoming.
Watching Chase Fletcher’s departing figure, Faye assessed, he really was a good husband.
