When the Side Character Gets a System and Travels through Difference Worlds-Chapter 60: Chi Mo 14
But everyone understood that this person wouldn’t be Chi Mo.
Hitting his light didn’t mean anything would change; it was just an announcement to everyone that someone had caught feelings first on this trip. As for the other person’s reaction, judging by Tan You’s current expression, she was far too calm. There wasn’t a hint of happiness or any other emotion.
The atmosphere in the living room grew a little tense. A producer came over to call them. "Brother Xu, could you come with me for a solo interview? And Momo, you too."
Tan You was unconcerned. "Alright, let’s go. Does this mean the first episode is officially over after the solo interviews?"
"Yes. Momo, come with me." The producer had been strictly business with Xu Jike, but when she faced Tan You, her smile was exceptionally warm.
’She felt a little indignant on Chi Mo’s behalf. A guy like Xu Jike has his eyes on Chi Mo? He should take a good look in the mirror and see what he’s really worth.’
Tan You slowly followed the producer. She and Xu Jike entered separate interview rooms, one to the left and one to the right. The moment Tan You stepped inside, she was greeted by the director’s chubby face. His eyes were crinkled into a smile, twinkling with the light of pure gossip.
Tan You sat down across from him, her face impassive. "Having you conduct the solo interview yourself... Isn’t that making a mountain out of a molehill?"
"Not at all, not at all. It’s not an exaggeration in the slightest," the director chuckled. "How did you feel when Xu Jike hit his light for you?"
"I didn’t feel anything," Tan You said, not mincing her words. "If I have to say something, it’s that his ’like’ came too easily. Doesn’t that mean it would be just as easy for him to stop liking me someday?"
"Of course, those are his feelings. They have nothing to do with me." 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Clearly, he wasn’t going to get any drama out of Tan You that way, so the director cut to the chase. "What do you think of Xu Jike?"
"I don’t have any," Tan You said unhurriedly. "I’ve said before that I don’t like people who are slick and detached, and it’s obvious he’s exactly that type. I’m a simple person. He’s not."
"People with complicated minds might think it’s refreshing to be with someone simple, but over time, they’ll grow tired of it. It’s because the other person can’t easily understand their way of thinking. Rather than let resentment build up later, it’s better not to get involved in the first place."
The director mulled that over. "Even if he pursues you relentlessly?"
Tan You smiled. "Yes. My world may be small and simple, but not just anyone can waltz right in. Especially those who claim to ’like’ you right off the bat. I find it a bit... shallow."
"Men can be very contradictory," Tan You paused for a moment. "On the one hand, they want a woman to be pure-hearted and transparent, but on the other, they demand that same person understand their world and connect with them on a spiritual level."
"In my eyes, that’s wanting to have your cake and eat it too," Tan You said bluntly. "You can’t have one thing and demand the other. That’s why I say men are sometimes especially contradictory, and especially greedy."
"So detached," the director said, half-joking. "What are your thoughts on the filming for this first episode?"
"Everyone is very easy to get along with, and we’re all very courteous to one another." Tan You brushed her hair back. "Maybe it’s because everyone is so focused on maintaining that courtesy that I feel we can’t really let loose. But they are all exceptional people."
"But you don’t have feelings for that ’exceptional person’," the director couldn’t resist probing again.
Tan You replied, "He’ll meet someone more beautiful and more exceptional. He’ll find someone he connects with on a spiritual level. And that person won’t be me."
"Then what’s your ideal type?"
Tan You considered this for a moment. "I’m a very private person. It takes me a while to get used to new things, and I can’t really keep up with trends, which inevitably makes me seem a bit awkward."
"But I hope my partner wouldn’t mock me for that and could accept that I’m just an ordinary person. I like putting on makeup and wearing pretty clothes, just like any other girl."
"I hope he’s a steadfast person, someone who will stand by my side without wavering. Ultimately, love isn’t about words, but about actions. And of course, I hope he’s a warm person."
The director contemplated this. "Alright, I understand what you’re looking for. Your solo interview is finished."
Tan You stood up. "Goodbye, Director."
’She had been perfectly honest, but I suspect the director won’t give up so easily,’ Tan You thought. ’After all, the show needs drama, and there’s no telling what that old schemer will cook up next.’
’In Chi Mo’s past life, the production team had fanned the flames at every turn, doing everything they could to pair Chi Mo and Xu Jike together. It wouldn’t be the same this time, would it?’ At that thought, Tan You paused. ’During the drawing yesterday, she had picked Zhou Wenwen’s name to prepare a gift for. So, who did Xu Jike pick?’
’She remembered Lin Meng drawing her name before, so she hadn’t given it much thought. Could it have changed this time?’
The Beauty System popped up. "Host, you guessed correctly. Quite the coincidence, but Xu Jike drew your name."
Tan You sighed. "What terrible luck."
"Host, you’re the luckiest person this system has ever seen! Look, you won the system’s grand prize package on your very first lottery draw. How’s that for good luck?" The Beauty System disagreed, clearly convinced that Tan You’s luck was actually excellent.
Tan You rolled her eyes. "Oh, thanks a million. You say that like you’ve seen tons of hosts. If I’m not mistaken, aren’t I the first host you’ve ever bonded with?"
The Beauty System replied confidently, "But this system has seen lots of seniors on the forums, and they talk about their hosts too! Among all the Beauty System hosts, you’re the luckiest, Host. Others have to enter the lottery many times to get the Perfect Bone Structure, but you got it right from the start."
"My sincerest thanks," Tan You said, her face deadpan. "So, me having to interact with Xu Jike now... that’s supposed to be good luck?"
The Beauty System’s interface seemed to flicker. "The butterfly effect, perhaps."
Tan You snorted softly. ’There was no point in getting angry now. It was just a matter of who could outlast the other. As long as she remained firm in her resolve, nothing Xu Jike did would sway her.’
Back in the living room, Tan You looked at Zhou Wenwen. "The director wants you for your solo interview."
Seeing the worried look in Zhou Wenwen’s eyes, Tan You smiled. "Don’t worry, I’m fine."
Tan You was in no mood to linger in the living room, so she returned to her room to pack her suitcase. ’Speaking of which, has Brother Chuan made the arrangements? If Teacher Xu can’t make it, I’ll have to find someone else.’
As she thought about this, Tan You’s packing gradually slowed.
"Momo, time to assemble." Just as she was lost in thought, the producer came by to call her to the living room. The first round of filming was officially over, and it was time for a group photo.
Tan You closed her suitcase and sat down on the living room sofa. She saw Brother Chuan give her a subtle hand signal, and she knew it was a done deal. She didn’t relax, however. Instead, she began planning how to perform the dance even better.
With such an outstanding photographer and stylist, Tan You certainly didn’t want to be the one to drop the ball.
