When His Nauseous Sweetheart Frowns, the Tycoon's Family Takes Turns Pampering Her-Chapter 98: I’ll Go Find Him
Russell Frost took the shopping bag from the sales clerk and strode away.
’Adriana still loves wearing overcoats and hats, just like she used to.’
’She’s been in Valoria all these years. Why hasn’t she contacted her family?’
He couldn’t understand it. All he wanted was to find Adriana right now and demand an explanation face-to-face.
Russell Frost hurried out and stood at the entrance of the mall.
An endless stream of cars flowed past, and people were everywhere. He stopped in his tracks.
His gaze fell on the two large words to the side: Summit Plaza.
’Adriana, I have to see you today.’
Russell Frost gritted his teeth, turned, and entered a coffee shop, casually ordering a drink.
While waiting for his coffee, he carefully observed his surroundings. There were security cameras everywhere in the shop.
’Summit Plaza has so much foot traffic,’ he thought. ’Every single store must have cameras installed.’
’If I can just see the mall’s security footage, I’ll be able to find Adriana.’
He quickly scrolled through his contacts and decisively pressed the call button.
The palm holding the phone grew damp, so he switched it to his other hand.
He didn’t think twice before wiping his sweaty palm on his pant leg.
The call connected, and Blaze Fairchild’s voice came through.
"Uncle."
Blaze Fairchild was at the hospital with Julian Fairchild when he suddenly received a call from Russell Frost. The two of them hardly ever contacted each other.
’My uncle is Luna’s biological father and my own nominal father-in-law. On top of that, he’s a man of exceptional intellect and talent, so I have to handle this carefully.’
"Blaze, I want to see the security footage from Summit Plaza’s Wing A."
’Summit Plaza.’
’My uncle went to Summit Plaza, too?’
Blaze Fairchild’s fingers tightened into a fist. "Uncle, is something wrong?"
Russell Frost’s dark gaze drifted toward the entrance as he licked his dry lips.
"A sales clerk saw your Aunt Adriana. I need to find her as soon as possible."
’Otherwise, if she leaves the mall, where else am I supposed to look for her?’
The tremor in Russell’s voice traveled over the line, and Blaze Fairchild felt a jolt in his ear, leaving it slightly numb.
’So Uncle really did see Mom.’ He had no choice but to bite the bullet and agree.
"Please wait a moment. I’ll make a call."
"Okay. I’m at the coffee shop in Wing A."
After hanging up, Blaze Fairchild didn’t call the mall manager. Instead, he called Jenna Axton.
Jenna Axton was in a clothing store waiting for Ms. Brooks to pay. Her gaze shifted from her phone screen to her daughter, who was laughing and playing with Lindsey off to the side.
’Why is Blaze calling me?’
"Blaze," she said, answering the call.
"Mom, Russell Frost is looking for you." Time was short, so Blaze got straight to the point.
CRACK.
Jenna Axton’s mind went blank. She froze for a few seconds before finding her voice.
"Why would he contact you?"
"He said a clerk saw you. He’s waiting in the coffee shop in Wing A right now and contacted me to get the mall’s security footage."
Hearing this, Jenna Axton’s head snapped up, her sharp gaze fixing on the coffee shop’s sign.
The coffee shop in Summit Plaza’s Wing A was diagonally across from her, only a dozen or so meters away.
’My brother... he’s sitting right in there.’
’He wants to see the footage. He’s trying to catch me!’
’What do I do?’
’I don’t want to see him.’
"Blaze, just tell him the cameras are under maintenance."
Jenna Axton grasped for an excuse, the words tumbling out before she could think.
"Mom, this is my uncle we’re talking about."
Jenna Axton pressed her lips together.
’That’s right. He’s Russell Frost.’
’He’s too smart. There’s no way he’d believe such a cliché excuse.’
’If my brother wants to, he has plenty of ways to see the security footage for Summit Plaza here in Valoria.’
’I don’t want to see him.’
’But what can I do?’
’I’ve already been spotted. I can hide for now, but not forever.’
’This isn’t twenty-three years ago. There are cameras everywhere. I can’t escape.’
Jenna Axton fell silent, and Blaze Fairchild understood. "Mom, I’ll give him that answer. We’ll stall for as long as we can."
’My uncle has a Seven-orifice Exquisite Heart. If he figures it out, he figures it out. As long as he doesn’t get to see Mom, that’s what matters. As long as they don’t meet, Mom will get what she wants.’
But Jenna Axton knew her brother all too well.
He was persistent and would never give up until he got what he wanted.
She spoke as if accepting her fate, her tone unnaturally calm. "Then let him look."
After she spoke, Jenna Axton’s gaze fell on Luna Axton.
’I can’t let my brother find out that I secretly had his child.’
She immediately changed her tune. "No, Blaze. I’ll go see him."
Blaze Fairchild hadn’t expected Aunt Adriana to be so resolute.
Russell Frost kept his gaze fixed on the coffee shop’s two entrances, his hand gripping the rim of his cup as he waited for the person Blaze had arranged to come and find him.
’Time is passing too slowly. Why isn’t anyone here yet?’
He glanced at his watch. It had been ten minutes since his call with Blaze.
’Why isn’t anyone here yet?’
He couldn’t wait any longer. Every minute that passed increased the chances of Adriana leaving the mall.
’And then, where would I even begin to look for her?’
Impatient, he dialed Blaze Fairchild’s number again.
A little girl with braided pigtails walked in and immediately spotted the person the adult had told her to find.
Her gaze was firm and proud, her expression as serious as if she were undertaking a momentous task.
The girl, as delicate and cute as a porcelain doll, stopped in front of Russell Frost. "Mister~"
"Yes?" Russell Frost lowered his phone, giving the little girl his full attention.
"A pretty lady with a hat on asked me to give this to you."
She finished speaking and held out a slip of paper she had been pinching between her fingers.
Russell Frost glanced at the note. It was Adriana’s handwriting.
The words were written on a shopping receipt—specifically, the receipt for the Enchant perfume.
’It has to be Adriana.’
Russell Frost tried his best to keep his voice down so as not to scare the little girl. "Where is she?"
"She bought a small pastry and left." The little girl stared at him with her big, dark eyes.
Russell Frost leaned in, his voice softening. "And where are your mommy and daddy?"
"My mommy sells little cakes over there, so I’m just playing around here." ’Mommy tells me every day not to run outside the mall because it’s dangerous. I know that.’
"Such a good girl. You be careful now, okay?"
"Okay!" The little girl nodded emphatically.
After the little girl left, Russell Frost smoothed out the slip of paper.
"New Year’s Eve, 8 PM. See you at the old place."
The elegant script, as upright as green bamboo, was gentle yet firm—what Adriana used to call "a woman’s character."
’It really is Adriana.’
’Adriana saw me too. Why didn’t she call out to me?’
’Was it because it wasn’t convenient?’
’8 PM... Is she already married?’
The warm winter sun streamed through the window, falling upon Russell Frost.
He raised his hand, and the light shone through his fingertips, a faint warmth spreading across his palm.
’It’s been twenty-three years, Adriana. Twenty-three years!’
It wasn’t as if he hadn’t spent the last twenty-three years looking for her.
When Adriana left, she hadn’t even taken her ID.
Twenty-three years ago, the internet was still in its infancy, and cell phones weren’t yet widespread.
He had searched every place he could think of where Adriana might have gone.
But for anywhere else, even if he wanted to look, he wouldn’t have known where to begin.
She had vanished so completely it was as if she’d evaporated from the face of the earth.
His gaze fell to the phone on the table, and Russell Frost finally remembered he had just been on a call with Blaze.
"Blaze?"
"I’m here, Uncle."
"My apologies. Something came up suddenly, and I wasn’t paying attention to my phone." Russell Frost looked down and smiled faintly, his mood lifted.
"I heard," Blaze Fairchild replied. He had never hung up the phone. "Do you still need to see the security footage?"
"There’s no need to go to all that trouble."
Blaze Fairchild hung up and gazed down at the park below.
The sun was out today, and the park was bustling with people.
’Mom still doesn’t want Russell Frost to know that Luna is his daughter.’
’That’s why she chose to face him herself.’
’The affairs of the older generation were not something he, as a junior, could interfere with.’
He opened the chat window for his pinned contact on WeChat and began to type a message.
"Are you having fun?"
