When His Nauseous Sweetheart Frowns, the Tycoon's Family Takes Turns Pampering Her-Chapter 149: It Was I Who Fought for and Snatched Miss Jenna
The ceremony to formally recognize her return to the ancestral clan was held in the Frost Family’s ancestral hall.
With her family’s explanations and companionship, the event felt much more relaxed.
Luna Axton stood before the ancestral shrine as her bearded Seventh Grand-uncle presided over the ceremony.
When Seventh Grand-uncle called out the command to kneel, she knelt on a cattail hassock, supported by her father and uncle. When he told her to rise, she rose.
On each side of the hall were four ceremonial armchairs, occupied by the four most respected and prestigious elders of the Frost Clan.
In the small courtyard outside, members of the Frost Clan had gathered to watch, every one of them happy for the family.
This was, after all, the most successful branch of the Frost Clan.
But they were a humble family. Despite their success, they never forgot the other branches, building roads for the village, establishing a clan foundation, and more.
One good deed after another, all to help everyone.
Was there anyone in the Frost Clan who didn’t admire and feel grateful to this branch of the family?
After the ceremony concluded smoothly, she went from door to door, meeting relatives and learning who was who.
She once again felt just how high a status Theodore Frost’s lineage held within the Frost Clan, and how deeply respected they were.
Everyone greeted her with kind faces and warm words, congratulating her family on their reunion.
Whenever she took a symbolic bite of food at a home, her father would present the relatives with a pre-prepared gift.
Luna Axton observed closely. The gifts weren’t all the same; they had been chosen based on each family’s specific circumstances.
In that moment, she felt like she was beginning to understand a father’s love, just a little.
Ever since her parents had returned to Valoria, she had moved into the Frost Family’s villa for a short stay.
Her father hadn’t spoken to her alone. Most of the time, he was by her mother’s side, watching over her.
’Maybe Dad only acknowledged me as an afterthought,’ she had even thought to herself.
But today, seeing her father present the gifts with both hands, a warm smile on his face as he introduced her to every clan member as "my beloved daughter, Luna"...
Even the name recorded in the family registry—everyone in the Frost Family had respected her wishes and kept it as Luna Axton, not forcing her to change her surname back to Frost.
Her father had also become a father overnight, and his child was suddenly 22 years old.
She finally realized that her father, just like her, felt awkward and didn’t know how to interact with her, which was why they couldn’t be alone together.
But when it came to matters concerning her, her father always dealt with people with the utmost sincerity.
There were just over 30 families in the village. Like the Frosts, many were households of three or four generations living together.
The number of households was small, but the population was large, and every home was bustling with life.
By the time they finished dinner at her seventh uncle and aunt’s house and returned to the villa, it was already past eight in the evening.
Exhausted, Luna Axton only managed a two-minute video call with Blaze Fairchild. She gave him a quick report of her day before clamoring for sleep. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
She had walked for three or four hours, then sat in a car for over six more. She was utterly exhausted.
"I want to sleep. I’m so sleepy, so sleepy. I didn’t even get a nap this afternoon."
Luna Axton had intended to ask about his work, but a wave of drowsiness washed over her. Her mind wanted to, but her body was already shutting down.
Blaze Fairchild saw her exhausted face. She was still in her day clothes and was about to fall asleep without even washing her face or brushing her teeth.
His heart ached for her. He wished he could be there to get her cleaned up himself so she could sleep comfortably.
"Go to sleep."
In any case, the holiday was already half over. He could pick her up the day after tomorrow.
After her shower, Jenna Axton remembered that her sweetheart hadn’t eaten much at their seventh uncle’s house and worried she might get hungry later that night.
She cooked a bowl of noodles, intending for Luna to eat something before bed.
But when she brought the noodles upstairs and knocked, there was no answer.
She pushed the door open and saw that Luna was already fast asleep.
The curtains to the terrace were open, and moonlight spilled in, bathing the room in a soft glow.
Jenna Axton backed out of the room and turned to knock on Russell’s door.
Russell Frost had also just finished his shower. Seeing her arrive with the bowl of noodles, he said, "I’m not hungry."
"It’s not for you. Our sweetheart is asleep, so you eat it."
"You eat it." Russell Frost wasn’t in the habit of eating late-night snacks.
"I’ll get fat if I eat it," Jenna insisted. "You eat it."
Unable to refuse, Russell Frost pointed to the small desk in the room. "Just put it on the desk."
Jenna set it down and was about to leave when Russell grabbed her wrist. "You think you can get rid of me with just a bowl of noodles?"
"We’re at home, no!" Jenna refused. "Besides, I didn’t close our sweetheart’s door. I want to go check on my baby."
Time was passing too quickly. They had to return to Kensing the day after tomorrow, and she couldn’t bear to part with her baby, wanting to spend every possible moment with her.
At the mention of their daughter, a lonely look crossed Russell Frost’s face. "Ever since we brought her back, our little one and I have grown more distant, not closer. She hardly talks to me, won’t even look me in the eye. Darling, what should I do?" he asked, pulling Jenna into a hug as he confided in her.
"Who told you to get transferred to Kensing? If you’d stayed in Valoria, we could see her more often, and things would definitely be different."
Hearing this, Russell Frost’s hand drifted to the ticklish spot on her waist.
Jenna was extremely ticklish and squirmed in his arms, begging for mercy in a low voice, "I was wrong, I was wrong! I’ll arrange it. Tomorrow, we’ll take our sweetheart out, just the three of us. I’ll create lots of opportunities for you two to talk and help you bond as father and daughter."
Russell Frost huffed, then swiftly stole a kiss from her lips before releasing her in satisfaction. "Go on, go see your baby. Any later and the noodles will get soggy."
Jenna glared at him and grumbled, "You make it sound like I was the one grabbing and hugging you."
’That’s not a glare,’ Russell thought. ’She’s flirting with her eyes.’
He reached out a long finger, tilting Jenna Axton’s chin up. His tone was teasing. "No, I’m the one who fought tooth and nail for Miss Jenna."
Jenna Axton turned her head, pulling her chin away from his finger. Ignoring his playful teasing, she went straight to Luna’s room.
Russell Frost watched her flee, her steps hurried as she shyly covered her cheeks.
He watched from the doorway for a moment before sitting down at the small desk to eat the noodles.
Jenna Axton knelt by the bed, just as Luna had knelt countless times by her hospital bed, lost and helpless, while she was sick.
"You must be exhausted today," Jenna Axton murmured, holding her daughter’s hand. Love poured from her eyes like water.
Luna’s hands had filled out a little; they were softer than before.
Their time together was too short, and it was already half over.
’At least in the future, the family will be able to see each other openly whenever they want,’ she thought.
"Your father and I will go back to work first. When your due date gets closer, I’ll come back."
With Russell Frost’s position, it wouldn’t be a problem for her to transfer along with him as his dependent.
However, the project in Kensing wouldn’t be finished anytime soon, so Russell wouldn’t be transferring back immediately.
Jenna Axton didn’t plan on telling Luna, lest the date get pushed back again and again, causing her to get her hopes up only to be disappointed.
Jenna watched for a while longer before deciding it was time for her to go to bed too.
As she stood up, she saw a dark figure leaning against the doorway, and her heart skipped a beat in fright.
