When His Nauseous Sweetheart Frowns, the Tycoon's Family Takes Turns Pampering Her-Chapter 116: Who Doesn’t Like a Sweet-Talking, Generous Son-in-law?
Blaze Fairchild’s deep, dark eyes held a hint of a smile, seeing right through her little scheme.
"You didn’t get me anything?"
Luna Axton turned her head to face him, her attitude sincere.
"I didn’t know what you were missing, or what you needed, so I didn’t prepare anything."
Blaze Fairchild lowered his gaze, looking at her coolly.
"You knew to prepare bracelets for your father and the others, herbal massage mallets for Grandpa, Mrs. Creed, and Uncle Foster, and to grind some kind of beauty and skin-rejuvenating powder for your mother. How could you not know what to get for me?"
Luna Axton saw his brows furrow slightly. He was clearly angry.
She knew how good Blaze Fairchild was to her. He took meticulous care of her; even last night when she just turned over in her sleep, he had adjusted her blanket.
’If it were her, after giving so much and not even getting a New Year’s gift in return, she’d be angry too.’
"You have every right to be angry, but I really didn’t know what to get you. Or you could just tell me, and I’ll go prepare it."
Blaze Fairchild sighed. ’She has me completely wrapped around her finger. What else can I do?’
"Just give me a kiss."
Luna Axton’s dark eyes were bright and clear. "A kiss and you won’t be angry anymore?"
"Mhm."
The moment Blaze Fairchild nodded, she cupped his cheeks, brought her lips to his, and planted a kiss on his slightly cool ones.
’Luna was so quick. It’s clear she cares about his feelings.’
Blaze Fairchild’s lips curled into a private smile. "That’s more like it."
’He smiled, so he’s not angry anymore. But I still need to make up for the gift.’
Luna Axton returned to her earlier question. "What gift do you want? I’ll go get it."
She was being so obedient that Blaze Fairchild couldn’t help but lower his head and press his nose firmly against hers.
’What he wanted... she might not be able to give it to him right now.’
After a moment, Blaze Fairchild coaxed her, "Let’s just forget it this time. Making up for it after the fact doesn’t show any sincerity."
"Next time, I’ll prepare in advance. Yours will be the first one I get ready," she promised, her eyes curving into crescents.
Blaze Fairchild raised an eyebrow, taking it as a sign he believed her.
"Are you feeling any better?"
Luna Axton froze.
She hadn’t expected Blaze Fairchild to ask that. Her once-bright eyes instantly dimmed.
"Sooner or later, I’ll have to get used to life without my mom. It just came sooner than I expected."
Blaze Fairchild stroked the back of her head, pulling her into his arms. "It’s okay. Whenever you miss your mom, I’ll find a chance to take you back to Kensing."
Luna Axton rested her chin on his shoulder and nodded slightly. "Okay."
The next day, Blaze Fairchild and Luna Axton took Jenna Axton to the airport to meet up with Joy Coleman and her family.
The group waited until their suitcases had successfully passed through the security check before they had a chance to talk properly.
Ms. Brooks and Mr. Coleman watched the reluctant mother and daughter. They didn’t understand why, with Luna so far along in her pregnancy, Jenna Axton was suddenly returning to Kensing.
In Ms. Axton’s heart, Luna had always come first.
"If you can’t bear to leave, just go back a few days later. The management hasn’t even started work yet, and the reinstatement procedures can’t be processed until after the holiday," Ms. Brooks said.
Joy Coleman quickly pulled her mother’s hand. "Mrs. Axton needs to go back and tidy up the house. After all, it hasn’t been lived in for two years."
No matter how slow Ms. Brooks might be, seeing her daughter blinking at her, she knew there had to be a specific reason for Ms. Axton’s return.
She made a zipping motion across her lips, indicating she would keep quiet.
Just as they were talking, a man holding a bouquet of flowers and carrying two large gift boxes came running from the airport entrance.
The moment Wyatt Kingston entered the airport, he started searching everywhere for Joy Coleman.
But Blaze Fairchild was too eye-catching in the crowd. Tall and elegant, dressed in a loose black trench coat, with a long neck and broad shoulders, Wyatt spotted his good brother, Blaze Fairchild, at a glance.
’Damn, being handsome really is its own aura. Blaze Fairchild could draw every eye in the room just by standing there.’
’With that look, not joining the entertainment industry is a complete waste of such a handsome face.’
Wyatt Kingston’s eyes shifted, and sure enough, he saw Joy Coleman near Blaze Fairchild.
He shouted, "I’m late!"
The surrounding conversations came to a screeching halt as everyone turned to look at him.
’See? Your pal here is a handsome guy who commands attention too.’
A voice so familiar it made her want to run away reached her ears. Joy Coleman looked over as if to confirm.
She saw the person she detested running over, holding a huge bouquet of flowers and two gift boxes. "Hey, girl, I’m here!"
Joy Coleman’s brows knitted so tightly she wished she could crush Wyatt Kingston between them and tear him to pieces.
Wyatt Kingston didn’t see it. He ran up to the Colemans and directly shoved the flowers and gift boxes he was holding toward Ms. Brooks and Mr. Coleman.
"Uncle, Auntie, these are gifts for you. I wish you a smooth journey!"
The massive bouquet completely hid both teachers’ faces.
Joy Coleman didn’t hesitate to raise her hand and slap his arm hard.
Wyatt Kingston realized they were taking a plane and immediately corrected himself. "Ptooey, ptooey, ptooey—I misspoke! I meant safe takeoff and landing, safe takeoff and landing."
Ms. Brooks glanced at Joy Coleman, unsure whether to accept the huge bouquet shoved in her face.
As a teacher, she received nice flowers and gifts prepared by the school for its teachers every year on Teacher’s Day.
But she had never received flowers this beautiful. To say she didn’t like them would be impossible.
However, compared to her daughter’s happiness, these flowers weren’t that important. It’s just that there were a lot of people around, and Young Kingston’s actions were drawing too much attention.
Joy Coleman received her mother’s signal, blinked her eyes, and adopted a ’leave it to me’ expression.
She put on a serious face. "Mr. Kingston, thank you for coming to see my parents off, but as for these flowers, you should probably take them back to your studio. It’s not convenient to bring them on the plane."
"Oh, is that so." Wyatt Kingston looked regretful. He hadn’t thought it through. "No problem. We’ll take a picture, and that can be its mission accomplished."
After speaking, Wyatt Kingston shoved the flowers into Ms. Brooks’s hands, and without waiting to see if anyone agreed, he pulled out his phone and tossed it to Blaze Fairchild. "Take a picture for us."
The phone bounced twice in Blaze Fairchild’s hands before he caught it securely.
By the time he opened the camera app, Wyatt Kingston already had one arm around Ms. Brooks and the other around Mr. Coleman, squeezing himself between the two teachers and grinning from ear to ear.
Luna Axton and Jenna Axton looked at each other, both trying to hold back their laughter.
It was the first time they had ever seen Ms. Brooks, who was known among her students for her fiery ’Little Pepper’ temper, being so thoroughly managed by someone else.
Since it was for a photo, the three members of the Coleman family still put on smiles and played along with Wyatt Kingston.
With a few CLICKs and CLICKs from the camera, Blaze Fairchild said, "Got them."
Wyatt Kingston let go of the two elders and said with a serious expression, "Uncle, Auntie, I’ve been thinking for the past few days, and I’ve realized that I’m still very much in love with your beloved daughter. So, starting today, I am going to formally pursue your daughter, Miss Joy Coleman."
When he finished speaking, he gave a formal ninety-degree bow.
’This is basically forcing their hand.’
But when faced with someone so solemn and sincere, how could one say anything to dampen his enthusiasm?
As a father, Mr. Coleman quite admired Wyatt Kingston. The young man had clearly taken his previous words to heart.
Mr. Coleman said, "Lindsey is a grown woman now. We won’t interfere with her decisions too much. As long as she likes him, Ms. Brooks and I will be satisfied."
"Thank you, Uncle and Auntie." Wyatt Kingston was so excited he almost fell to his knees before the two elders.
"That young man really has good manners. Pursuing someone’s daughter and he even informs the parents first."
"Isn’t that the truth? Who wouldn’t like a smooth-talking, confident son-in-law?"
The chatter of passersby reached his ears, and Blaze Fairchild discreetly glanced at Luna Axton and Jenna Axton.
