A giant monster appeared in the city. It was huge, as tall and wide as a house. Its skin was dark and rough, like old leather. Its eyes glowed red, bright enough to see in the dark. It walked on two skinny legs, and its arms were thin too, but long—way too long for its body. Its stomach stuck out, round and fat, jiggling as it moved. The head was big, with a wide jaw full of sharp, crooked teeth. A thick tail dragged behind it, swinging back and forth, knocking over anything in its path.
Few of Mortal Elemental came from other provinces were having party of drinks and barbeque, when they encounter this monster.
They immediately knew that these monster is too strong, so they run right away, without hesitation, yelling and tripping over each other to get away. One guy wasn't fast enough. The monster's arm stretched out, long and rubbery, snagging him by the ankle. He clawed at the ground, screaming for help, his fingers digging into the dirt. The monster yanked him up, dangling him upside down. But then—boom!—flames roared around the monster. It dropped the guy, who hit the ground hard but scrambled away, alive. The monster tilted its big head up, red eyes squinting at the sky. A giant bird made of fire was flapping up there, bright orange and yellow, lighting up the night.
On the firebird's back were four people: Mo Yanyu, Han Tianxue, Yang Hao and Lan Huoyan.
"Who are you?" Lan Huoyan, asked as she observed the creature. She had never seen anything like it before.
Yang Hao also stared at the monster, and Navrita informed him that this was the Devil's Pet. Shocked, Yang Hao was overwhelmed by its power. He already knew the Devil was strong, but seeing this creature, he couldn't even imagine how terrifying the Devil themselves would be. It seemed that among those four devils, one also brought it's pet.
The Devil's Pet roared at Lan Huoyan.
"It seems I can't communicate with you," Lan Huoyan thought. Without hesitation, She jumped off the firebird, landing right in front of the beast, flames swirling around her hands.
The fight started fast. Lan Huoyan flicked her wrist, and a ball of fire shot out, smacking the Devil's Pet in the face. It stumbled back, rubbing its nose with one giant hand, looking annoyed. The monster swung its long arm at her, but she dodged, hopping to the side.
It tried again, slapping its tail at her, but she jumped over it like it was a game. The monster got mad and grabbed a house ripping it off the ground. It chucked the thing at her, bricks and wood flying everywhere. Lan Huoyan just waved her hand, and a wall of fire melted the house into ash mid-air. "Nice try!" she said.
The Devil's Pet roared and charged, swinging both arms. Lan Huoyan danced around it, tossing little fireballs that popped against its skin, leaving scorch marks.
The monster tripped over its own tail, crashing into another house.
When It got up, he was even angrier now, and threw a chimney at her. She caught it with a fire whip, spun it around like a toy, and tossed it back, bonking the monster on the head. The Devil's Pet sat there, rubbing its head, looking confused, while Lan Huoyan stood with her hands on her hips.
Lan Huoyan glanced up at the firebird hovering above, where the two girls clung to its fiery feathers, watching her with wide eyes. Yang Hao was there too, staring downm
Lan Huoyan smirked to herself. Time to show these kids what real power looks like, she thought. She wasn't just going to keep dodging and tossing little fireballs—she wanted something big, something flashy, something they'd never forget. The Devil's Pet was still sitting there, rubbing its head after the chimney bonk, looking dazed but not done. Perfect.
She planted her feet firm on the ground, arms stretched out wide. Flames started swirling around her, fast and wild, like a storm of fire waking up.
The air got hot, so hot the dirt under her feet cracked and smoked. Bright orange and red light flared up, brighter than the firebird, brighter than anything in the dark night. The flames twisted into a massive shape above her—a dragon, huge and alive, made entirely of fire. Its wings stretched out, each feather a flickering tongue of flame, and its eyes glowed white-hot. The dragon's jaws opened, showing teeth of pure heat, and a roar of crackling fire echoed through the city, shaking what was left of the busted houses.
The Devil's Pet looked up, its red eyes wide, jaw dropping open. Lan Huoyan thrust her hands forward, and the fire dragon shot down like a comet. It slammed into the monster with a deafening BOOM, flames exploding outward in a ring of blazing light.
The dragon's claws sank into the monster's fat belly, its fiery tail whipping around to wrap the Devil's Pet's long arms, pinning them tight. The monster thrashed, swinging its own tail, but the fire dragon bit down on its neck with those searing jaws.
Flames poured over the creature, covering it head to toe, turning its dark skin black and crispy. The ground shook as the dragon reared back, dragging the monster up into the air, then slammed it down hard, leaving a smoking crater where it landed. The fire flared one last time, so bright it lit up the whole town like daytime, before fading away into sparks that floated up to the sky.
Lan Huoyan dusted off her hands. "Not bad, huh?" she said, looking up at the girls and Yang Hao.
She figured the Devil's Pet would still be kicking after that—tough as it was, she'd only used bit of her strength. She had many more trick up her sleeve, something even wilder, but as the smoke cleared, she froze. The monster wasn't moving. It just lay there in the crater, a giant charred lump, arms limp, tail still, red eyes dark. Dead.
She blinked. "Oops," she muttered. "Guess I overdid it a little."
She glanced back at the firebird, where the girls were staring, mouths open, and Yang Hao looked like he'd stopped breathing.
"Well," She shrugged, "For them, this is also a awesome trick."
