What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?-Chapter 491: Complications To Pirates
"Nyaaa~ Boss~ Zzz…" Ries mumbled while I carried her onto my ship through the docking hatch.
Ragbar was kind enough to give us a ride to our ship since Lea and Ries were still knocked out. It was interesting to see that they also had lifts meant for cars to be used on this station, which in hindsight made sense or else you would need to buy new cars for each ring you wish to visit.
Then again, I wouldn't put it past them to design it that way either…
Oh, and Amber gave them several more conditions after I agreed to the challenge, which included making them pay us a portion of the profits they get from this event, giving us the original prize of the VIP status and even getting us partial ownership over the club as well if I won.
Not gonna lie, I thought the last one was a bit too far but they surprisingly agreed to it. Valiea was even thanking us profusely as we left their home too.
Originally I floated the idea of staying in one of the hotels on the station instead but Ries wanted to work on the power armour so we just decided to continue sleeping on the ship instead.
As we walked into the ship, I decided to ask the question that I had been holding back this entire time.
"Why the sudden change, Amber?"
She blinked at me while carrying Lea in her arms, "What change?"
"Before you wouldn't want news of me to appear anywhere but now it seems like you're fine with the possibility of my cooking skills being known by others?"
She giggled, "Ehehehe~ That's because now we can profit from it, Tera~ Before, if others wanted to take advantage of you, we might not be able to stop them, but now we can!"
"Stop them? How? If some noble were to show up, are you planning to reveal your Psionic powers or something?"
Updat𝓮d from freewēbnoveℓ.com.
"Oh come on, Tera. Things happen out in the Outer Colonies where you might just randomly die on the next day. Everybody knows that~"
I'm pretty sure that was her subtle way of saying that she would pretty much kill any of them who showed up first…
Something tells me that I shouldn't ask further than that…
She continued, "Well you don't need to worry about that, Tera! If anything happens, I'll deal with it! All you need to worry about is enjoying what you do!"
"Ok, that sounds really sweet and all and I would have thought that was just something you're saying to get in my pants if you weren't already in it… But I would like for us to have as little problems as possible, you know? Wouldn't be nice if we get chased around by some idiots from the Inner Colonies trying to prove something."
"Ehehehe~ Like I said Tera~ We'll worry about that for you, you don't need to think about it~"
"Is that your way of saying that you'll clean up any messes I make or something?"
"Ehehehe~ Don't I already do that? Especially when you make a mess of me in bed~"
Oooook, I admit I totally walked right into that one.
I rolled my eyes and went ahead to deposit Ries in her room while Amber did the same with Lea.
"Mmm~ Booooosss~" She mumbled in her sleep as I placed her on the bed, prompting me to give her a kiss before I left her room.
Amber and Mara were already waiting for me outside so I placed my arms on my waist before nodding at them, "Alright… So that means we have a week on this station at least and we still have the pirates to deal with. Any plans?"
Amber tapped a finger on her chin, "Well… I could always just go in with Mara to just tear the entire place up tomorrow if you want us to do so~ We could just walk right in there and deal with everything~"
I huffed, "What did I say about standing out too much? It's one thing for me to get attention because of my cooking, it's another where we get revealed we're harbouring Mara on our ship."
"Well, nobody will notice if there's no body to notice, Tera~ Ehehehe~"
"Uh huh, and can you guarantee that the entire station won't blow up because of you tearing up that place?"
She pouted a little before finally saying, "No…"
"Alright, then we're not going that route. We'll leave that as a last resort if we really don't have any choice. So, any other suggestions?"
Mara raised her hand, "I could gather some information about them first before we decide, Captain. Give me a few days and I should be able to get something."
I gave her a look, "That means you would be going down to that ring and hanging out around there, right? That's quite conspicuous, don't you think? There's no way a beautiful girl suddenly showing up alone wouldn't draw attention."
Maraa huffed at me, "Captain, if that's your attempt at getting into my pants, then I'll have to remind you that I'm willing to drop them for you anytime you want, you just need to give the order."
I chuckled, "Ok, ok, I was joking. But seriously though, I know you can handle yourself because of your Psionic powers but I'm still worried about sending you down there on your own so I'll go with you."
Amber grinned, "Sure~ Sending two really hot girls won't stand out at all~ Why stop there then? Let's make it three! I'll go too!"
I rolled my eyes, "I'm being serious now, Amber."
"Ehehe~ So am I, Tera~ Three is better than two~ And we might as well get Lea and Ries in as well!"
Right as I was going to point out that this would just draw even more attention, all of our personal terminals let out a notification beep at the same time.
I pulled up my Codex while they did the same with their personal terminals to see what the notification was about.
[Station wide announcement: Station Rings One and Two are currently restricted for travelling due to an ongoing gang war. Only permitted personnel may travel to these Rings at this time. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.]
I scrolled away from the announcement and looked at the map of the station, zooming out to check the names of the rings.
My heart fell when I realised that they counted the rings from the bottom up so Ring One was the bottom most station ring, the ring where the pirates were.
"Shit… I bet this had something to do with that casino robbery earlier…" Amber cursed as she placed her personal terminal away. "Some other gangs might have thought this was a good chance for them to try and take some territory from these pirates after they suffered losses in the casino raid and made their move. But since they moved at the same time, it escalated to an all out gang war between multiple different gangs."
Great…
"Does it say how long that place will be on lockdown for?" I asked.
Mara scrolled on her screen before shaking her head, "There's no set time limit, so I'm assuming that they would most likely wait until the fighting dies down or blows over before they open it up again."
"And how long is that going to take? Days? Weeks?"
Mara shook her head, "We don't know the extent of the fighting so we can't say for sure. At least a week would be my assumption for the fighting to die down. Then another week for the station administrators to even notice that it has stopped. Then maybe another week or two for them to confirm the situation and clean up before opening it again. So perhaps a month, maybe more, at the very least."
Fuuuuuuck. You're telling me we have to stay here for an entire month before we can do what we came here for?
Amber turned to Mara, "Didn't the announcement say that permitted personnel can still travel there? That means it's not on complete lock down. We might still be able to go there if we either get ourselves permission or just sneak in there. Heck, I think this works in our favour since the chaos would help hide our presence there too. They would be too busy shooting each other and worrying about getting shot to notice… No wait, they still might, nevermind…"
I sighed, "I guess we'll find more about it in the morning. Where can we know more though?"
"Hmm… Maybe we can just contact the Guild here or something? Perhaps the station administrators are looking for Mercs to do security or maybe even deal with the gang war so we could just look at the guild board to see if there's any jobs related to that," Amber suggested.
I raised an eyebrow at that, "So basically… We'll be heading to a potential warzone?"
Amber waved her hand in front of her, "Ahahaha! They're not that serious, Tera! It's not like these gangs have top tier equipment like the people we have been dealing with so far! They're merely just lowlifes and trash who are doing crime to survive in the slums of the station! The only thing they have going for them is their numbers!"
I see… Well, whatever… I guess we'll just have to take a look at how things go tomorrow and decide from there…
