What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?-Chapter 469: Burn It And Blast It

Both Amber and I turned to look at the blob.

The surface of the blob started to tremble and I immediately lifted my gun to fire a shot at it.

My shotgun pellets peppered the blob and did absolutely nothing to it before spikes exploded out from its body to fly towards me.

I was about to leap out of the way when a wall of fire appeared in front of me, blasting the spikes to the side and away from me.

Amber then dashed in front of me in all her blazing glory, looking more like a goddess of fire with how the flames were wrapped around her like a cloak with more fireballs floating around her.

She's so hot.

The blob recoiled visibly from the fire but it didn't seem willing to give up as it shot another spike towards Amber.

My lover thrust her palm out and several of the fireballs were shot towards the spike, exploding in front of the spike and burning it to cinders.

It recoiled back and tried to attack again but Amber sent another fireball hurtling towards its main body, the fireball exploding against the surface of its body.

It was flung back and it thrashed around before it retreated back through the doorway disappearing out of sight.

Huh… I didn't actually think it would run away.

Which means that thing has self preservation instincts…

Right as I was about to suggest that we get the hell out of here and blast this ship to bits, the entire ship suddenly shook and seemed to be moving on its own.

"Captain?!" Mara's voice came from my Codex, clearly in a panic.

"What's going on? Why are we moving?"

"The black hole! It seems like it's pulling this ship in!"

"What about the probe?"

"Ries is securing it with the drones but they don't seem to be affected. That ship is the only thing that is being pulled in and we're also being pulled in alongside it… It's… Getting faster, Captain!"

"Fuck, we'll get back there as soon as--"

Another crash and we turned to see the walls near both entrances to the cargo bay topple outwards, allowing hordes of the shadow figures to pour in like we were in the middle of a zombie apocalypse.

I'm guessing these are the missing crew members of the ship…

"Amber?" I called out, tightening my grip on my shotgun.

She swung her hand in an arc, sending the fire around her to flare up and crash into the horde, blowing them back and giving us a short few seconds of space as they recoiled back from the flames.

Unfortunately, it still doesn't change the fact that we were stuck here with these things blocking the way and the ship currently being pulled into the black hole.

Amber turned her gaze towards the cargo bay doors and I instantly knew what she wanted to do.

"Are you sure about this?!" I asked.

"Yes! Start the process of closing the doors and wait for me there!" She confirmed, my lover flinging another wave of fire to keep the shadow figures away.

I did as she asked and rushed back into the control room, pulling the lever that prompted the cargo bay doors to start closing again.

"Mara! Undock us from the ship!" I ordered through the comms.

The source of this c𝓸ntent is freewebnøvel.coɱ.

There was a moment of hesitation before she asked, "Are you sure, Captain? You're still over there!"

"I am sure!! Open our cargo bay doors and keep them open!"

She must have also guessed what we were planning to do because she didn't protest anymore, "Understood."

I ran out of the control room again and it seems like the shadow figures were now merging together to create an even bigger version of themselves to deal with the fire Amber was throwing at them.

The new shadow figure easily reached the ceiling in height and it raised up its fist before slamming it down, the blow causing a shockwave that threw me off my feet and flung me backwards.

I braced myself, expecting to hit the wall behind me but an arm slipped around my back and spun me away from the wall.

Amber, still clad in the flames that were wrapped around her and somehow not burning me, flew up into the air with me in her arms.

She then raised her arm and a large fireball materialised before she flung it directly at the chest of the large shadow figure.

The fireball exploded against its chest and sent smaller balls of fire flying in various directions, burning anything they touched.

While the shadow figures were occupied with the fire, Amber flew towards the cargo bay doors where it was halfway to completely closing up.

"Ready?"

"Do I need to exhale again?"

"No need~ I'll protect you from that~" She grinned, right before fire blasted out from behind her and sent both of us flying out into the void of space.

Despite her assurance, I still held my breath instinctively.

Amber used her fire to redirect herself to fly towards the cargo bay of our ship.

The acceleration caused me to involuntarily take a breath and I realised that I could still breathe, which should have been obvious if I thought about it because Amber did tell me that she needed air to ignite her fire.

That means that there should be air around us right now instead of a vacuum.

The two of us rocketed into our ship's cargo bay, right as I saw our docking hatch release itself from the other ship and free it from being dragged along.

Amber hugged me close to her as we came to a graceful landing on the ground of the cargo bay, her fire disappearing as soon as her feet touched the ground.

I also found the probe already inside with Ries directing the drones to palace it down on the floor.

I immediately called through the comms, "Mara! You're controlling the ship, right?!"

"Yes, Captain."

"Full power to engines and get us out of here! Lea! Light that ship up! I want it in pieces! Amber, stay here with the probe and check if there's any of those shadow things! Burn them if there are!"

I received three 'ayes' and I made my way to the bridge, not bothering to disarm myself while Amber stayed as I had instructed.

When I reached the bridge, Lea was already firing our guns at the ship, blasting holes through its hull even as it continued to be pulled into the black hole.

Interestingly, she was only using the High Intensity Lasers and not the Railguns.

As though she knew that I was wondering about that, Lea didn't turn from her console and answered my unasked question, "The railgun rounds were affected by the pull and not connecting with the target. The Lasers were not as affected so I can still hit it despite the anomaly."

Oh, that makes sense I guess.

I took a seat on the Captain's Chair and watched as Lea blew the ship to pieces, one of the lasers blasting through the centre of the ship and completely separating it into two.

She didn't stop there even at that point and continued firing our guns at it, peppering it with more holes even as it continued to get pulled into the black hole.

By the time we stopped, the ship was in multiple pieces and I believe the shadow figures must have been sucked out into space from the ship already.

Hopefully, that would be enough to deal with them…

I leaned back in my chair and let out a deep sigh.

Mara and Lea both turned back to look at me.

"What happened, Mistress?"

"What did you see there, Captain?"

Eh? Oh right… We were on voice comms so there was no video feed for them to see.

I pulled out the personal terminal I secured that had the video recording of what happened and projected the screen in front of me, "Take a look."

I fast-forwarded the video to where the shadow thing started attacking the people on the ship and let them see how they were being transformed into the shadow figures.

The two of them watched in silence until the end where they then shifted their gaze to the ring on my finger.

I shook my head immediately, "It claims that what it was after was the probe, not because of those shadow things…"

"Forgive me but… How are you sure about that, Mistress?" Lea asked.

I shrugged, "I'm not… Which is why I suppose I should be going to check the probe out right now… Set a course back to the station in the meantime and tell Hasani to get our Credits ready… I don't want to stay in this station for longer than I have to."

"Yes, Captain."

I got up from my seat and started my way back to the cargo bay again, still keeping my weapons on me just in case I needed it.

I sure hope whatever this thing wanted from the probe was worth it…
