We went back to the ship and this time, we had to wait for a security team to accompany us onto the ship in case we 'attempted to kidnap the Head Researcher'.

They got three guys to follow us on board with the Head Researcher and they would remain with Hasani throughout his time on our ship.

As if that wasn't enough, they also got another security group to board us to guard our cargo hold in case we try to fly off or something.

I'm not that worried since on the off chance that they try something, Ries's drones would also come to aid us in the event of a fight.

And even if that wasn't enough, Amber would be able to wipe the floor with all of them without even trying.

I stayed in the corner of the medical room where Mara was now occupied with doing a scan of Hasani's body alongside the pill he had given her.

The guards were standing in the opposite corner of the room and they were keeping an eye on both me and Mara, the three of them ready to draw their weapons the moment they saw any action they deem hostile.

Unexpectedly, one of them spoke up first, "You two… Will you both be alright staying in an enclosed room with him?"

Mara paused and gave the guard a side eye, "Would you three be alright? From what I know, guys are what he is after, not girls."

The guard tapped the side of his helmet, "We have our own air supply so his pheromones don't affect us. You don't need to worry about us, but what about you?"

Mara turned back to the machine that was analyzing the pill, "I have a cyware implant that filters out the air I breathe in so it doesn't affect me either. My Captain over there has the same thing."

I know for a fact that Mara was lying because I know she has no cyware in her at all. Had she mentioned something like a gene mod that allowed her to do that, I might have believed her.

That confirms that she was using her Psionic powers to 'cure' herself I guess, though I have no idea how that worked.

The guard didn't say anything after that so I assume he was satisfied with her explanation.

The lion guy took that chance to speak up, "So… How are things looking?"

Mara didn't turn back and answered him with her back still facing him, "It is as I told you. This is supposed to be an over the counter pill that is meant to give you features of a lion, right?"

"Umm… Yes?"

"But you didn't get them directly from over the counter, I take it? You got them from a third party instead."

The guy snapped his mouth shut and chose not to answer.

Even though he chose not to answer, I'm quite sure the mind reader sitting in the doctor's chair could already gleam the answer from his thoughts.

Mara moved her fingers across the holographic screen and the image seemed to change into a picture of what looked like molecules with some words at the side.

Our resident doctor didn't seem like she was expecting him to answer in the first place as she continued, "I know you didn't get them directly because if you did, they would have told you what the dosage was. You took a whole bunch of them in one sitting didn't you? And you did it multiple times?"

But because you took so many at once, some aspects of you had a much bigger change than normal as compared to if you had taken the dosage correctly. Actually, for your case, it's just one aspect but I digress."

Mara finally turned around to frown at him, "Then what did you even bring me here to change? You said the change was unsatisfactory, didn't you? Weren't you referring to the uncontrollable pheromones?"

Mara said nothing and turned back to her desk, tapping a button near the wall to cause a machine that looked like an old school microwave to pop out from the desk.

She opened the glass door and placed the pill inside it to rest it on a tray before closing the door.

A screen then popped up and she hunched herself over it to move several windows around.

The movement seemed to have purpose as light flashed inside that machine each time she did so and I counted a total of eleven flashes before she closed the screen to open the glass door.

Snapping a pair of gloves on her hand, she then pulled out the tray to reveal that there were now twelve small pieces on the tray instead of the single piece of the pill before picking up one of it and tossing the rest away.

Mara pressed another button and a circular machine with a spinner at the side and test tubes around the spinner popped out from the wall.

She dropped the piece inside one of the test tubes and pressed a button, prompting the machine to come to life as the spinner retracted back into the machine and a whirring sound could be heard.

It went on for a minute before it let out a ding and popped back out, revealing one of the test tubes was now filled with a dark blue liquid.

She snatched the test tube up and then handed it directly to the guy.

"There, drink it."

Hasani blinked at her, "It's done? Just like that? That quickly?"

Mara waved the tube in front of him, "Because I'm a professional. Do you want it or not?"

The lion guy quickly snatched the test tube off her hand and downed the entire thing in one gulp.

He handed the test tube back to her with a grin, "So how long before I see the effects?"

Mara looked pointedly at his crotch and he frowned for a moment before looking down as well.
