Wedding Night: My Disabled Husband Made Me Cry-Chapter 201: Don’t Even Think About Touching My Son Again
Everyone crowded around.
"How is he?"
"Doctor, how is my son?!"
The doctor removed his mask, sighed, and said, "The young master was poisoned. That’s why he vomited blood and fainted."
"Poisoned?" Vivian Quinn couldn’t believe it. "How is that possible? We’re so careful about everything he eats, and he never touches food from outside. He can’t have been poisoned."
She had been terrified when Elle vomited blood. After checking his pulse and finding it weak, she had rushed him to the hospital, racing against time. There had been no time to run a blood test.
"Mrs. Sterling, the toxicology report is back. It was definitely poison. It’s not fatal, but the young master is too young to handle it. He’s still in a coma, and we don’t know when he’ll wake up."
"Vivian Quinn, what did you feed my son!" Shirley Wentworth cried out. "If he doesn’t wake up, I’ll make you pay with your life!"
"Shirley Wentworth," a cold voice slowly interjected. "If you dare slander her again, I will destroy the Wentworth Family."
Shirley Wentworth turned her head. Seeing Jett Sterling’s grim expression, her bravado instantly deflated. "Jett, I’m just worried about our child. He’s your biological son, too. Can you really bear to see him like this?"
"What does his condition have to do with Vivian?" Jett Sterling’s icy gaze locked onto her face. "Shirley Wentworth, don’t use this as an excuse to attack her. If you must blame someone, blame me. The incident happened at my house."
"Do you love Vivian Quinn so much that even your own son has become unimportant?"
"What do you think?" Jett Sterling retorted with a question of his own.
Shirley Wentworth was trembling with anger. Just as she was about to speak, a displeased voice cut in. "Jett, don’t go too far!"
Everyone followed the sound of the voice and saw Wendy Reeves storming over. "Vivian Quinn has been the one taking care of Elle! Now he’s in a coma after vomiting blood. As his biological mother, what’s wrong with Shirley holding Vivian accountable?"
Jett Sterling’s expression grew even colder. "Mom, don’t make things worse."
"I’m not the one making things worse, Vivian Quinn is!" Wendy Reeves glared at Vivian. "If it weren’t for her, your family of three would have been reunited long ago, living the happiest of lives. None of this would be happening!"
Jett Sterling stated coldly, "If it weren’t for her, Elle would have died from the pain long ago, and I might not even be alive today. You know the Sterling Family’s situation better than anyone. What right do you have to blame her?"
Wendy Reeves was speechless for a moment, but she still argued stubbornly, "I don’t care! The fact is, my precious grandson ended up like this under Vivian Quinn’s care. She must take responsibility!"
Jett Sterling let out a cold laugh. "I thought it was rare enough for the Wentworth Family to produce a shrew like Shirley Wentworth, but I see the Sterling Family isn’t immune. You’re acting like a common shrew right now. Where is the dignity of Madam Sterling?"
The color drained from Wendy Reeves’s face, her expression shifting between pale and livid.
Vivian Quinn was in no mood to deal with their accusations. She asked the doctor, "Can I see the child now?"
"You may, but since the young master is unconscious, I’m afraid it won’t do much good."
"You must have drawn blood. I need a blood sample."
"No!" Shirley Wentworth, as if suddenly remembering something, immediately objected. "Vivian Quinn, don’t you dare touch my son again!"
"I need Elle’s blood sample so I can analyze the toxin and create an antidote for him," Vivian Quinn explained.
"That’s still a no! Leave now! From this moment on, I absolutely will not let you take a single step near Elle!"
’If Vivian Quinn finds out Elle and I aren’t related by blood, the consequences will be unimaginable!’
Just as Vivian Quinn was about to speak, a hand suddenly grabbed her wrist.
Jett Sterling looked at her. "Vivian, let’s go home."
"But Elle..."
"He’ll be fine. Let’s go home first," Jett Sterling insisted.
Vivian Quinn had no choice but to agree. "Alright."
Although Vivian Quinn returned to Sycamore Bay, her heart remained at the hospital. She couldn’t calm down at all.
"Nanny Jenner, gather everyone in the household. I want a thorough investigation into everything Elle touched and ate today, down to the last detail."
"Yes, Madam."
Vivian Quinn sat on the living room sofa, her hand pressed to her forehead.
"Sis, are you okay?" Joy Chase went over and massaged her temples. "Don’t worry too much. Elle should be fine."
"He’s so young, and he’s already suffered so much." Vivian Quinn’s heart ached. "If I could, I wish I could bear all this for him."
"Sis, everyone can see how much you adore Elle. You’re the one who’s most heartbroken about him being poisoned. Panicking won’t help right now. You have to calm down and find the source of the poison as quickly as possible so you can find an antidote to save him."
Vivian Quinn nodded. "Joy, you’re right. You’ve really grown up."
"Sis, it’s just that an outsider sees things more clearly. You’re too worried about Elle, so you’re in a panic."
"Madam," Easton Rivers said as he walked into the room. "Here is the young master’s blood sample. Please take it for your research."
Vivian Quinn’s face lit up. "How did you get this?"
"The hospital is owned by the Sterling Family. Even if Shirley Wentworth warned the doctors, it wasn’t hard for me to get my hands on this."
Vivian Quinn eagerly took it. "I’ll go analyze this now. Joy, you stay here and help Nanny Jenner with the investigation."
"Okay."
About half an hour later, Nanny Jenner knocked on the door. "Madam, I’ve asked around. The young master is a picky eater and usually only eats the food you prepare. The servants here wouldn’t dare feed him anything without permission. However..."
"However what?"
"Madam, you forgot. Master Wentworth visited today and brought the young master some cookies."
Vivian Quinn frowned. "This isn’t the first time Vincent Wentworth has brought cookies. I heard they’re Elle’s favorite. Besides, this isn’t a chronic poison. He was definitely poisoned within the last 24 hours."
She was always extremely careful with Elle’s care, to the point of personally inspecting everything he ate. But Vincent Wentworth was Elle’s biological uncle. She couldn’t very well inspect the food he brought; that would be incredibly rude.
"But Madam, besides that, the young master really didn’t eat anything else," Nanny Jenner said, troubled. "There are many people in the house, but everyone we hire goes through a rigorous screening process. You also know what the Master is like. No one would be bold enough to betray him."
"I’m not suspecting anyone in the household. I just need a clear investigation. Since no one here is a suspect, we do need to look outward," Vivian Quinn said. "Are there any of the cookies Vincent Wentworth brought left?"
"No, there was only a small amount, and the young master loves them. He always eats them all in one go."
"Then there’s no evidence right now to prove the poison was in the cookies."
"Madam, how is your research going? Can you develop an antidote?"
"The toxin isn’t very potent. It’s only because Elle is so young that he’s unconscious. It’s not fatal. Just give me some time, and I’ll be able to create an antidote."
"You love the young master so much, you definitely won’t be able to rest easy. I’ll go prepare something for you to eat."
"Thank you."
Vivian Quinn indeed had no intention of resting. She holed herself up in the lab, researching the antidote, with Jett Sterling keeping her company.
Late into the night, Vivian Quinn was exhausted. After a yawn, she slumped onto the table and drifted off to sleep without realizing it.
Jett Sterling closed his laptop, stood up from his wheelchair, and carefully lifted the girl into his arms, placing her on the nearby sofa.
Vivian Quinn rolled over, found a more comfortable position, and fell into a deeper sleep.
Jett Sterling gently caressed her cheek, the corners of his lips curling into an unconscious smile. He lay down beside her, wrapped her in his arms, and closed his eyes, sleeping soundly.
「...」
The next morning, the shrill ringing of a cell phone jolted the two of them from their sleep!
