Chapter 176: Chapter 176: Vivian Quinn Trapped

Vivian Quinn didn’t deny it. "Professor York, it’s a long story."

"Then don’t say anything," Hugh York said calmly. "I can’t offer any advice on you young people’s romantic entanglements. I just hope you’ll be happy, Vivian, and that Mason Landon will be happy too. As long as you can both find your own happiness, that’s all that matters."

"Thank you, Professor York."

"Good. I’m proud of you both."

"Yes."

As Vivian Quinn left the office, she received a call from Shane Shaw.

"What’s up? I was just about to head home."

"Boss, Rachel Quinn is looking for you."

"Rachel Quinn?" Vivian Quinn hadn’t heard that name in so long she found it a bit strange. "Isn’t she supposed to be at home on bed rest? Why is she looking for me?"

"Uh, to be precise, she’s looking for the Phantom Healer. She’s about to lose the baby and wants you to save the pregnancy. I rejected her outright. How could you possibly treat someone like her?"

Vivian Quinn thought for a moment before saying, "I can treat her."

"Boss, what are you saying?"

"Saving a life brings more merit than building a seven-story pagoda. I hate her, but the little life inside her is innocent. With my master missing and Jett suffering from his chronic illness, saving one more life is a way for me to accumulate good karma for them. Besides, I’m a doctor. Saving lives is what I’m supposed to do."

"Alright, I’ll accept on your behalf then. But Rachel Quinn is on bed rest at home, so it has to be a house call."

"Okay. My foot’s healed now, so my disguise as a man should be convincing enough."

"Got it. I’ll make the arrangements."

...

The appointment to treat Rachel Quinn was scheduled for the evening two days later.

Naturally, Vivian Quinn didn’t hide it from Jett Sterling. She told him directly, "I’m going to check on Rachel Quinn and I’ll be right back. You take care of Elle at home."

"You’re going to the Grant Family’s estate to treat Rachel Quinn?"

"I heard she isn’t living with Ethan Grant, but with Austin Grant in their own marital home."

"Be careful."

"Don’t worry, no one knows I’m the Phantom Healer." Vivian Quinn gave him a peck on the cheek. "I’m heading out now. I still have a lot of prep work to do."

"Alright."

Vivian Quinn got into Shane Shaw’s car and left, then switched to another vehicle at a discreet roadside location.

When the car arrived at the villa’s entrance, a maid came out to greet them. "This way, please."

Vivian Quinn followed her inside. The villa was large but very quiet, with few people around.

The maid led them to a room on the second floor, where Rachel Quinn was lying in bed, resting.

"Ma’am, your guest has arrived."

"Miracle Doctor, you’re here." Rachel Quinn seemed unable to get up. "My doctor told me not to move, so I can’t get up to greet you. I’m so sorry."

"It’s no matter." Vivian Quinn’s voice was deepened to sound like a man’s. She walked straight to a chair by the window and sat down. "Let me take your pulse."

Rachel Quinn wore no makeup. Her bare face was a stark contrast to her usual heavily made-up appearance, and coupled with her poor complexion, she looked even more haggard.

Vivian Quinn’s brow furrowed as she took the pulse. "The hospital’s diagnosis wasn’t wrong. It won’t be easy to save this pregnancy."

"How could this happen..." Rachel Quinn’s face was pale.

"Aren’t you clear on how this happened?" Vivian Quinn said coldly. "Excessive marital relations during the pregnancy."

Rachel Quinn looked mortified and said through tears, "Miracle Doctor, I’m begging you, please help me save this child. I can’t lose this baby!"

Vivian Quinn took her pulse again and said, "I can only do my best. First, I’ll prescribe a few courses of Chinese medicine for you to drink. We’ll observe from there."

"Okay."

Vivian Quinn took out a pen and paper and wrote out a prescription. "Follow this prescription and drink it three times a day. Half a month is one course of treatment. If all goes well, you won’t have to stay in bed and should at least be able to get up and walk around a bit."

"Thank you so much." Rachel Quinn offered, "Miracle Doctor, please have some water first. I’ll have someone get your payment."

"I won’t have any water. My assistant told you, right? I want cash."

"He did. I’ve already prepared it. It’s inconvenient for me to get up, so I’ll have to trouble you to go get it."

"Fine."

Vivian Quinn followed the maid to a room on the first floor. The moment she stepped inside, she smelled a strange odor!

Sensing something was wrong, she quickly covered her nose and mouth, grabbing the maid’s neck with her other hand. "What are you trying to do!"

The maid gasped for air, unable to breathe!

Just as Vivian Quinn was about to shove her aside and escape, an invisible metal gate slammed down over the doorway, trapping them in the room!

Rachel Quinn’s voice came from a speaker on the wall. "My apologies, Miracle Doctor. This child is just too important to me, and I have to save it. So, I’m afraid you’ll have to stay here for a while. As long as my baby is safe and sound, I will definitely let you go. On the other hand, if I can’t keep the baby, then I’ll have no choice but to have you buried with it!"

Vivian Quinn closed her eyes. ’I knew it. Rachel Quinn isn’t worthy of any sympathy!’

"Impressive methods, Miss Quinn. Since I’m here, I’ll make the best of it. It seems I have no choice but to stay."

With a THUD, Shane Shaw, who was beside her, collapsed to the floor. Even the maid crumpled and fell!

"The sedative gas is quite potent. As expected of the Miracle Doctor, to be able to withstand it." Rachel Quinn let out a soft laugh. "The room is fully stocked. You can eat something and get some rest."

Vivian Quinn ignored her, pulling a small vial from her pocket and holding it under Shane Shaw’s nose.

Shane Shaw quickly woke up with a loud sneeze.

"Bo—"

"Don’t talk," Vivian Quinn said, lowering her voice. "There are cameras here."

"We’re trapped?" Shane Shaw quickly pulled out his phone. "There’s no signal!"

"Rachel Quinn obviously came prepared. She wouldn’t let you make a call."

"Then what do we do?!"

"Calm down." Vivian Quinn was perfectly composed. "Jett Sterling will come for me."

"Oh."

The two of them sat down on the sofa to rest. Vivian Quinn even leisurely picked up a book and started flipping through it.

In her room, Rachel Quinn watched the two of them on the surveillance monitor, her brow slightly furrowed.

’Why does something about the Phantom Healer’s every move seem so familiar?’

’Almost two hours have passed, and they’re still so calm. It’s really abnormal!’

"Ma’am, the medicine is ready." A maid came in with the brewed decoction. "You should drink it while it’s hot."

"I know." Rachel Quinn sat up carefully, picking up the bowl while continuing to watch the monitor.

Suddenly, a sharp glint flashed in her eyes, and she slammed the medicine bowl in her hand onto the floor!

"Ma’am!" the maid cried out, startled. "What’s wrong?"

"Vi-vi-an... Quinn!" Rachel Quinn hissed through clenched teeth. "It’s Vivian Quinn! Go get the bodyguards and drag them both in here!"

"Yes, ma’am."

When the bodyguards burst in, Vivian Quinn knew she was in danger.

She was about to resist when she saw one of them pull out a gun!

Vivian Quinn had no choice but to surrender. Her hands were quickly tied behind her back, and she was taken to the master bedroom.

Rachel Quinn couldn’t hide her fury. "Rip the things off their faces!"
