Wedding Night: My Disabled Husband Made Me Cry-Chapter 173: I Bore His Child
The two of them sat down on an outdoor bench in the garden. The sun was lovely today, warming them pleasantly.
"What I said the other day must have struck a nerve, didn’t it?" Shirley Wentworth asked.
Vivian Quinn feigned curiosity. "What did you say?"
"Playing dumb." Shirley Wentworth scoffed. "Don’t tell me you actually think you’re worthy of Jett."
"Oh, so that’s what you were talking about." Vivian Quinn gave a faint smile. "In terms of family background, you’re right, I’m not his equal. It’s a classic case of marrying out of my league. I thought so too, and I even told him as much. But in response, Jett offered to transfer all his personal assets to my name."
"What did you say...?" Shirley Wentworth was incredulous. "That’s impossible! He would never do something like that!"
"I have no reason to lie about it." Vivian Quinn leaned back against the bench. "Miss Wentworth, my first impression of you was quite good. You seemed well-read, refined, with an exceptional air about you. I always thought you were exactly as you appeared: a well-bred lady from a prestigious family."
Shirley Wentworth pursed her lips. "What are you trying to say?"
"I’m saying that I’m very fond of Elle, and you are his biological mother. Therefore, I hope you can be a truly good mother to him. Knowingly being a homewrecker is something you shouldn’t be doing. Don’t disappoint me."
"Me, a homewrecker?" Shirley Wentworth sneered. "You’re the third wheel here!"
"Oh?" Vivian Quinn raised an eyebrow. "So, are you Jett’s wife? Or his girlfriend?"
"I gave him a child."
"And he doesn’t even remember touching you." Vivian Quinn smiled serenely. "If you think you can use your child to climb the ladder and take the position of Mrs. Sterling, you’re far too naive."
"Let’s not even discuss whether Jett would ever leave me. Even if he did, do you think I, Vivian Quinn, am some pushover you can just walk all over? Someone he can have when he wants and discard when he’s done? Anyone who makes my life difficult will get it back twofold."
Shirley Wentworth couldn’t help but applaud, her tone dripping with ridicule. "Spoken like someone with nothing to lose. Are all you shameless country bumpkins this brazen?"
"You flatter me, Miss Wentworth. I’m the legitimate Mrs. Sterling. You’re the one trying to social climb. So when it comes to being shameless, I still have much to learn from you."
Their voices weren’t loud, but the air between them crackled with tension.
"Mrs. Sterling, you’re back." Nanny Jenner arrived just in time. "The Young Master was just about to have me call you to see where you were. He’s waiting for you to have lunch."
"I see." Vivian Quinn stood up, not forgetting a parting shot. "Miss Wentworth, I won’t keep you. See yourself out."
Shirley Wentworth’s gaze turned cold. "I’d like to see just how long you can keep this up."
Just as Nanny Jenner was about to speak, Vivian Quinn stopped her. "Let’s go eat."
"Yes, Mrs. Sterling."
As they entered the house, Nanny Jenner asked anxiously, "Mrs. Sterling, was she verbally attacking you? Don’t be afraid!"
"I’m not afraid. When it comes to verbal sparring, I’ve never lost. But there’s no need for you to get on her bad side. I have a feeling she’s not one to play fair."
"Of course, I have to protect you, Mrs. Sterling."
"I know." Vivian Quinn smiled and looped her arm through the nanny’s. "Nanny Jenner is the best to me."
"Vivian!" Elle ran out and hugged Vivian Quinn’s leg. "You’re finally back! Elle waited so long for you, my tummy is rumbling!"
Vivian Quinn couldn’t resist scooping him up into her arms. "If you were hungry, you could have eaten first. You don’t need to wait for me."
"No way! I have to wait for you so we can eat together."
"Good boy. Let’s eat."
"Okay."
Vivian Quinn carried him to wash his hands, and they sat down in the dining room. As she served him some food, she asked, "Elle’s mommy came to see you. Were you happy?"
"Not happy..." Elle pouted, complaining, "Mommy brought a big syringe and took Elle’s blood."
Vivian Quinn frowned. "What happened?"
"Mrs. Sterling, Miss Wentworth said she found a doctor to treat the young master’s illness and needed to draw blood for testing," Nanny Jenner explained.
"No wonder Elle looks so pale." Vivian Quinn’s heart ached for him. "Elle, your mommy only took your blood for your own good. You can’t be mad at her. Here, let’s eat lots of food to make all that blood back, okay?"
"Okay."
Elle obediently ate his lunch. Afterward, Vivian Quinn watched cartoons with him for half an hour, and he soon fell asleep nestled in her arms.
Vivian Quinn carried Elle to his room and then went back to studying her medicinal herbs.

「Meanwhile, at the hospital.」
Shirley Wentworth came out after having her blood drawn, her face also a little pale.
"I’ve given you the blood sample. Start your research immediately."
The doctor nodded. "Rest assured, Miss Wentworth. I will do my best."
Shirley Wentworth took out her phone. "I’m transferring one million to your account now. If it’s not enough, let me know."
"Thank you, Miss Wentworth."
After transferring the money, Shirley Wentworth took the elevator downstairs and rested in her car.
Her phone suddenly rang. She opened her eyes, swiped to answer, and said, "What is it?"
"Were you the one who spread the rumor that Elle is Jett Sterling’s son?"
"It was my father," Shirley Wentworth said. "Outsiders don’t know this, but the Wentworth Group has been on a decline for the past two years, while the Sterling Family, under Jett’s leadership, has been thriving. The gap between our families has been widening behind the scenes. Of course my father is getting anxious."
"So he deliberately spread the news to pressure Jett Sterling into marrying you?"
"Yes."
The person on the other end of the line sneered. "Naive! You think Jett Sterling is that easy to manipulate?"
"Of course not. Jett didn’t negotiate with my father. He contacted my older brother directly."
"That’s normal. Your father is getting old; Jett Sterling can’t be bothered to communicate with him," the person said calmly. "I might as well tell you, the consequence of your father’s move is that Jett has now made his own."
Shirley Wentworth frowned. "What move did Jett make?"
"He’s already interfered with the Wentworth Group’s most important project of the year."
"Impossible!" Shirley Wentworth said with conviction. "Our families made an agreement decades ago to stay out of each other’s business. Jett would never try to sabotage the Wentworth Group!"
"It seems you’re just as naive as your father." The person scoffed. "If Jett Sterling played by the rules, would he be where he is today? You’ve all underestimated him."
"No! If this is true, I have to stop it from happening! I’m going home right now to ask my father!"
The Wentworth Family didn’t dare take the warning lightly and immediately launched an internal investigation. However, they found no problems with the project.
Shirley Wentworth breathed a sigh of relief and didn’t dwell on it. After all, it was normal for intelligence to be faulty.
Right now, all she wanted was to deal with Vivian Quinn!
’I’ll make Vivian Quinn understand the consequences of crossing me!’
Her phone rang again. Shirley Wentworth swiped to answer. "Speak."
"Miss, I have news about The Phantom Healer you asked me to find!"
"Really?" Shirley Wentworth shot up from her seat, excited. "Where is he?"
"I asked around on the black market. Someone said they can contact The Phantom Healer for treatment, but his conditions are non-negotiable."
"No problem! Money is no object!"
"He said that the request must be made under a real name. The Phantom Healer needs to know who he’s treating, so I’m afraid your identity can’t be concealed."
Shirley Wentworth hesitated for a moment, then said, "As long as Jett and Elle can be cured, nothing else matters. I agree!"
"Alright, I’ll go negotiate the details." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
"As soon as possible. The faster, the better."
"Rest assured, Miss."

「Two days later, on Saturday, an unexpected visitor arrived at Sycamore Bay.」
When Vivian Quinn came downstairs and saw the travel-worn face before her, tears instantly welled up in her eyes.
