Wasting Money to Become an Immortal-Chapter 99: I quit
Murong Yan seemed to ignore him at first, but when Liu Han suddenly fell to her knees and grabbed her legs, she had no choice but to acknowledge him.
Murong Yan looked down at Liu Han and said, "Honey, I’ve gone along with you all this time because I love you, but I’m done going along with you. Because I’ve supported you all this time, I’ve had no choice but to neglect our daughter. From now on, my main focus will be Xue’er."
Liu Han’s face looked like it was crumbling at this point.
At the same time, the other elders all looked like the sky was falling.
When I saw them all like this, I couldn’t help being confused as to what was happening.
But then...
"From this day forth, I quit as the law enforcement elder of the Star Peak Sect." Murong Yan said with a serious look on her face.
Before she could say another word, before she could even make another move, all of the elders suddenly fell down along with Liu Han and came forward to kneel around her. Though they didn’t touch her like Liu Han did since they knew their boundaries.
But that didn’t stop them from shooting looks at Liu Han as if they were telling him to convince her out of this.
Liu Han did his best by saying, "Darling, you can’t do that. Think of what will happen to the Star Peak Sect if you do."
Murong Yan just gave a snort before saying, "You shouldn’t have been depending on me for everything in the first place. I was only picking up the slack for you as the sect master, but then everything started coming my way because everyone expected it from me. Because of that, I wasn’t able to be with Xue’er when she was growing up. Plus, I even had to act stern to her to maintain my image."
Liu Ao Xue’s expression slowly changed into a look of understanding when she heard this.
It was as if she had suddenly had a life changing epiphany when she heard what Murong Yan said.
For her entire life, she thought that her mother was just very stern with her which had caused her to be afraid of her mother.
But now it turned out...that this was just her misunderstanding.
Her mother had never meant to be stern, it was just that she had been forced into it because of her position.
Looking at her vent all of her frustrations on the other elders, Liu Ao Xue started to understand that she had completely misunderstood her mother. It seemed that her mother had her own difficulties and she had never tried to understand them.
While Murong Yan was still ranting, Liu Ao Xue’s arms suddenly came around Murong Yan which caught her off guard. Then Murong Yan suddenly stopped ranting when she heard what Liu Ao Xue had to say.
"Mom, I’m sorry that I never took the time to really understand you. I didn’t know that you had it so hard."
Murong Yan’s eyes filled with tenderness when she heard this before she reached her hand out to pat Liu Ao Xue on the head and she said, "Xue’er, it wasn’t your fault."
She narrowed her eyes to look at Liu Han to say, "It’s all the fault of this useless father of yours."
Liu Han had a bitter smile on his face when he heard this, but he didn’t dare say a thing.
That was because he knew that she was completely right.
The things that he should have done as the sect master had all been passed down to Murong Yan because she had supported him from the beginning.
With how capable she was, all of the other elders had also started depending on her with their tasks as well.
It could even be said that Murong Yan singlehandedly kept the entire Star Peak Sect running.
So if Murong Yan were to suddenly quit... 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
It wasn’t an exaggeration to say that the Star Peak Sect would completely collapse because of this.
Everything would stop running and the sect would be filled with chaos.
So Liu Han knew that this was the last thing that he could allow to happen.
No matter what, he had to talk Murong Yan out of this.
So he said, "Darling, let’s think about this rationally. There’s no need for you to quit being the elder, is there? If there’s anything you need help with, you can always come talk to us."
The other elders nodded in agreement to this.
At this point, they would have said whatever they needed to say to keep Murong Yan at the Star Peak Sect.
That was just how important she was to running the Star Peak Sect.
But Murong Yan narrowed her eyes when she heard this to look at all of them.
Then in a cold voice, she said, "Didn’t I already tell you all about the things that you needed to do? In the end, not a single one of you actually did it, which was why I had to do everything myself. You say that I can come to you, but have you actually ever done anything to help?"
Liu Han and all of the elders had very awkward looks on their faces when they heard this.
After all, they couldn’t deny what she was saying...
Liu Han opened and closed his mouth a few times, but he wasn’t able to say anything in the end since he couldn’t think of anything that could convince Murong Yan out of this idea.
At the same time, he was feeling incompetent at the fact that he had to leave all of this to his wife to handle...
These were things that he should have handled in the first place.
Seeing that Liu Han didn’t say anything, Murong Yan went for the kill by saying, "Since you have nothing to say, then I’ll..."
"Ke, mother in law, if I may, I have something that I want to add." I suddenly said with a cough.
