Chapter 410: Too slow

The demon was doing all that he could to run away, it was just too bad that he was too injured to even run away properly.

If his wings were working, he could have flown away from this place.

Even if his wings weren’t working, if he could gather his power properly, then he would be able to fly with just his demonic energy alone.

The beam of light from the lamp hadn’t just burned his wing, but had also messed with the flow of demonic energy inside of him. It had completely weakened him by messing with the flow of his demonic energy, which made it hard for him to use it.

That meant that even if his cultivation reached the Human Immortal Realm, he wasn’t able to use the full power of this cultivation.

All because of this one lamp.

Just what was this lamp?

That was all that the demon wanted to know.

It was just that there was no time for the demon to even think about this as he was being attacked by the human who owned this lamp.

This monster of a human, just where did such a terrifying human come from?

As far as the demon knew, humans only existed as food for demons and would never become this strong. The only time that humans were ever this strong was when they borrowed the power of the annoying gods and there weren’t many of those humans in the first place.

Gods...

Could it be that this human was one of those annoying humans that borrowed the power of the gods?

That would explain why the lamp gave off a divine aura...

The demon continued to run while flicking his hands, causing the demonic cultivators and demons to fly out at me.

I had to admit that even though I had more than enough power to deal with these demons, I just didn’t have enough speed. It was as if no matter how I tried, I wasn’t able to catch up to the demon that was running away.

It seemed that my cultivation still wasn’t high enough that I would be able to move fast enough to catch the demon.

Especially since I had to deal with all of these demonic cultivators and demons that were being thrown at me.

I couldn’t help blaming the system for not letting me break through.

After all, I still had the cultivation experience bags, but the system just didn’t seem to allow me to break through for some reason.

I could break through if I really wanted to, but I wanted the system’s input on when I should break through. The system had given me good advice so far about that, so I didn’t want to break through without it telling me that it was the right time.

Though even if I wanted to break through now, it wasn’t as if I could.

There was no doubt that I would be stuck if I were to try and break through now, which would just allow the demon to get away. So the only thing that I could do was keep chasing after the demon.

Well, that and complain to the system.

"Why didn’t you let me break through before coming here? If I was a bit faster, I wouldn’t have to put in all this effort to chase after him."

The system seemed to ignore the complaints that I threw in its direction and was completely focused on something else.

All of a sudden, the system said, "Please hurry or else it’ll be too late."

I couldn’t help being caught off guard by these words as I had no idea what the system meant by this. But the way that the system said it seemed like it wasn’t joking around.

It really seemed like something was about to happen...

So with this, I raised the lamp up and created a large area of light around me.

This light burned through all of the demonic cultivators and demons that were being thrown at me and they were all pushed aside with a swing of the Wild Raging Spear.

I could have done this all along, but this wasn’t something that I wanted to do since it would mean burning up the energy of the lamp quicker.

The lamp only had a certain amount of energy in it, even if it was a Divine Artifact.

It wasn’t something that could be used that long if I used it like this, so I had been saving it just in case. But now it seemed like there was no way for me to save it as something was about to happen.

It was just too bad that I had come to this decision too late.

There was a sudden burst of scarlet red energy that came from the throne at the altar.

This scarlet red energy was a demonic kind of energy that seemed to resonate with all the demons that were here. It seemed like it made all of them stronger just by existing.

That included the demon that I had hurt.

When it felt the burst of energy coming from the throne, it seemed like it was relieved.

That was because its wounds were healing at a visible rate.

It seemed that with this demonic energy nourishing it, the demon was recovering from the wounds that I had inflicted on it. With the way that it was recovering, it seemed like it was only a matter of time before it was fully healed.

At the same time, it even seemed like this demon was about to pull out some kind of shocking power to fight back with.

"Ha, ha, ha, you’re too late! Now it’s my turn!" The demon said in a confident voice.

After he said this, the burst of scarlet red light that came from the throne suddenly flew out of the throne and slammed into the body of the demon.

As it hit the demon, the demon’s body started to change in shape.

He became bigger and looked even more demonic than before.

It was clear that he was much more powerful than before.
