Wasting Money to Become an Immortal-Chapter 358: Bug spray (1)
"What do you think I should do?" I asked the bookworm in a calm voice.
The way that I asked this, it was as if I wasn’t trapped at all.
This made the bookworm knit its brows for a few seconds, but then it relaxed as it said, "Is there a reason to bluff like this? Do you really think that you can fool me at a time like this? It’s clear that you don’t have a single card up your sleeve and are just trying to bluff your way out of this. It won’t work."
"Is that so?" I asked in a calm voice.
The bookworm once again knitted its brows, but this time it seemed like it was a bit annoyed to hear this.
It seemed like it was done listening to me as it said, "Alright, let’s see how you get out of this then."
It didn’t lose its temper like I thought it would, which showed that it was at least a bit smart that it could tell that I was baiting it.
After all, I had no idea just how many cards the bookworm had hidden up its sleeves.
I wanted to use this taunt to see if I could get it to use some of those hidden cards, but it seemed like it wasn’t planning on using any of those hidden cards since it thought that it had already won.
It wouldn’t show anything extra since there was nothing to gain from it.
Well, other than the satisfaction of wiping that smug look off my face.
But it didn’t seem interested in doing so.
In that case, there was nothing for me to say as I waited for my trick to have its effect.
My trick wasn’t as fast as the bookworm’s trick, it still needed some time before it could have its effect, which was why we were just standing there in the cage of flames.
The four beasts that were with me in the cage of flames looked at me with worried looks.
The little monkey didn’t seem like it had any plans, but the other three looked like they were asking me if they should fight their way out of this place.
I just calmly shook my head at them, as if I was telling them to wait.
While they listened to me, that didn’t mean that they weren’t worried when they saw the scene in front of them. Anyone would be worried when they were surrounded by waves of bugs like this.
After the worms had come out of the ground, the other bugs had also started to move.
They went around us as if they wanted to surround us so we wouldn’t be able to escape. Even though we were completely surrounded in a cage of worms, it seems like this bookworm wasn’t planning on taking any chances.
Was it because I had scared it with the way that I was acting or was it because it was just careful?
I didn’t know the answer to that question, but I wasn’t surprised that it would act this way.
With what I could see, I figured that it would do something like this.
Even then, they just couldn’t break through the cage of flames that were around us. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Once we were completely surrounded, the bookworm narrowed its eyes to look at me before saying in a taunting voice, "Well, where is your great plan now? Didn’t you say that you would break out of this place?"
A faint smile appeared on my lips when I heard this.
It seemed that the bookworm was planning on doing the same thing that I had done before.
It was worried that I might have some hidden cards, so it was taunting me to reveal them.
However, I just calmly looked at the bookworm with a smile on my face before saying, "Do you think that you’ll be able to do anything to us?"
The bookworm once again knitted its brows in displeasure when it heard this, but it didn’t say anything to us in the end. It just looked at the other bugs that were here and said, "Finish them."
In truth, the bookworm didn’t even need to say anything to control the bugs since it had been mentally controlling them the entire time. The only reason that it was saying anything now was because it wanted to put pressure on us.
As soon as they received their orders, the bugs suddenly created a wave as they surged towards us.
But before they could reach us, the wave of bugs suddenly collapsed.
The bookworm had a shocked look on its face at first before it said in an angry voice, "What do you think you’re doing? Group up and swallow them!"
Though it gave this order, the bugs didn’t seem like they would follow it.
Or rather, it seemed like the bugs were having trouble following any orders that they received.
With the sluggish way that they were moving, it was as if there was something happening to the bugs.
The bookworm didn’t miss this, so it quickly started investigating what was happening.
Though it looked all around the cave, the bookworm didn’t seem to find anything strange...
That was until it started feeling this numb feeling run through its body.
It was as if there was something that had tranquilized it and was making it move slower.
It was as if there was something that was infecting its body.
The bookworm didn’t understand what was happening at first, but it wasn’t a fool.
There was only one explanation for something like this happening now out of all times.
The bookworm narrowed its eyes to look at me and when I saw this, I looked back at the bookworm with a smile on my face.
It asked in a slow and hesitant voice, "What did you do?"
I just looked at the bookworm with the same smile as I said, "If you deal with bugs, what do you think you should do? Of course you would use bug spray."
