Wasteland Border Inspector-Chapter 316 - 134: Stepping into the Extraordinary, Scorching Eagle Coexistence State (Part 2)
He wanted to discard the Heart-Protecting Fire, to terminate this damned fusion, but his mind refused to obey at that moment.
The panel flickered violently before his eyes, and in the originally blank Skill Bar, the words "Heart-Protecting Fire" were being repeatedly washed by flames. With each flicker, new and more complex patterns emerged between the words.
He didn’t know how much time had passed, long enough for Cheng Ye to think he would completely lose consciousness in the pain, long enough for him to almost be unable to distinguish whether he was an eagle or a human.
The eagle in his left eye suddenly spread its wings, even though there were few feathers left, the exposed wing bones glinted with a metallic sheen.
Facing the volcanic heat wave, it let out a soul-piercing screech, devoid of fear, only filled with desperate resolve, and surprisingly pounced towards the fiercest cluster of flames at the center of the Fire Lotus.
Almost simultaneously, a faint red glow erupted from beneath the skin of the humanoid in his right eye.
The charred layers of skin fell away like cracked earth, revealing the new skin underneath, tinged with a healthy hue, delicate like that of a newborn.
Blood raced through his veins, producing a sound akin to the roar of burning flames.
Pain! Extreme pain!
Yet coupled with an indescribable relief, as if the filth accumulated over centuries had been completely incinerated, the soul became lighter, as if ready to soar into the sky.
Consciousness was repeatedly pulled between the two visions, eventually fully merging.
He was both the eagle undergoing rebirth in the Fire Lotus and himself enduring the tempering in the room.
When the last trace of charred skin fell away, and the wings of the eagle were coated in a layer of fiery gold by the flames, Cheng Ye’s eyes snapped open.
In his pupils, two clusters of flickering flame slowly extinguished, leaving a profound crimson at the bottom of his eyes, like embers, with residual warmth.
But curiously, the eagle image within his left eye did not entirely vanish.
It circled gently twice, calling out silently, and then its figure began to shrink rapidly.
Finally, it transformed into the original appearance of a fiery red seed, expanding to the size of an egg, hovering quietly, with the golden patterns on its surface flowing ceaselessly.
Crack.
An almost imperceptible cracking sound occurred, opening a tiny slit at the top of the seed.
Cheng Ye held his breath, watching as a bald chick poked its head out of the slit, its down yet to grow, with a pale red skin, its eyes blinking like black beans, making soft "ya ya" calls, thin and weak like the buzzing of mosquitoes.
Huh?
In my eye?
The sudden scene startled Cheng Ye, making him shiver involuntarily and instinctively close his eyelids.
Yet even when his vision plunged into darkness, the chick’s cries continued echoing by his ear, "ya ya", with a hint of grievance like a child’s whimper.
Even with eyes closed, he could still see it?
Cheng Ye was momentarily dazed, and then a rush of special information suddenly flooded into his mind.
It was the Collector!
The amount of information wasn’t vast, yet it struck him like a bolt of lightning, causing him to freeze suddenly.
"Is this... my Extraordinary Power?"
"Is this... my Scorching Eagle?"
Compared to the creature on Liu Kun’s shoulder, with a wingspan over four meters, like a colossal being.
Cheng Ye repeatedly observed the helpless chick in the darkness, only the size of an infant’s palm, bare as a piece of red meat, unable even to stand steadily, fluttering awkwardly in the dark.
Alright, indeed there’s no comparison.
But as his mind touched the chick, a surge of indescribable affection welled up from his heart, mingled with a faint joy, as if seeing a long-lost family member, and Cheng Ye’s previously furrowed brows relaxed, even the corners of his mouth lifted slightly.
"How to connect?"
He was contemplating when suddenly he saw the chick tilt its head and its small body swayed, seemingly collapsing lifelessly to one side, motionless.
"Hey!" Cheng Ye’s heart tightened as he attempted to contact it with his mind.
The next second, he felt his consciousness sink suddenly, as if he had entered that dark space.
Of course, not in his physical form, but rather attached to the chick.
A strong sense of compression came, with the surrounding darkness enveloping him like something tangible, making even turning his head impossible.
Goodness, is it locked up?
Cheng Ye quickly withdrew his consciousness and opened his eyes.
In his vision, the nearly lifeless chick indeed started to chirp "ya ya" again, its tiny head rubbing against his "sight", as if being coquettish.
"Is this another level of Extraordinary Creatures?"
Too astonishing.
A living entity, capable of existing within his vision!
Opening his eyes allowed it to move around the room, while closing them would send it back to that mysterious dark space.
Cheng Ye chuckled silently, and following the Collector’s instructions, he raised his hand to his brow.
This time, he distinctly felt a faint connection added to his consciousness, pointing directly to the chick deep in his left eye.
With a thought.
Plop.
The chick fell out of the space, rolled onto the bed, tilting its little head, eyes like black beans filled with confusion, obviously not yet accustomed to the solid state.
"Spirit Body, Physical Form, both can be converted by my thoughts alone!"
Cheng Ye tried again, and once more, the chick was retracted into the space, and reappeared without any hindrance.
Without his consent, the chick could only survive within the Spiritual Body Space, unable to interfere with reality.
And when switched to physical form, it was like any ordinary creature, without any difference.
However.
How should one control this Extraordinary Power?
Cheng Ye was pondering when the familiar sense of hunger hit him again, more fiercely than when equipped with the Wild Grass Physique.
In just an instant, a dizzying vertigo struck with overwhelming force.
