Wasteland Border Inspector-Chapter 232 - 112: Flying Wing Assault Unit, Firewood’s Black Technology!
Firewood Shelter City?
The five words exploded by Cheng Ye’s ear, making him momentarily dazed.
As the strongest shelter city on the entire Wasteland, recognized by all, the name of Firewood is mentioned by thousands every moment; it is a dream city for countless people and the origin of countless dreams.
It was founded in the first year of the New Era, as the most solid and oldest Super Shelter City.
How does that saying go? Together, it’s a blazing fire; scattered, it’s a sky full of stars!
The founders of countless Shelter Cities walked out from Firewood Shelter City.
They brought the ideas and talents from here.
Brought the resources, technology, and skills, spreading the seeds of human civilization throughout the Wasteland!
It is no exaggeration to say that Cheng Ye has read all the books on the Wasteland; as long as they mention the New Era, they will definitely talk about Firewood, and at least more than half of the authors highly praise Firewood.
Even Liu Bi once said that if one day Firewood needed help, at least two-thirds of Blue Star’s Shelter Cities would deploy manpower and resources in support.
Because, in a way, Firewood represents the foundation of human civilization.
"Is there any way you can prove you’re from Firewood Shelter City?"
Cheng Ye took a step forward and asked loudly.
The people opposite were obviously not expecting such directness from him and were at a loss for a moment.
"This is the Inspector from Happiness City!" Long said sternly on the side, "Do you understand what an Inspector means?"
"Understood, understood!"
The people on the other side of the Fog Cave woke up as if from a dream, too busy to be curious, and quickly straightened up, showing a respectful stance.
Any shelter city of even minimal scale will have inspection stations.
Firewood Shelter City is certainly no exception, although many go in and out hundreds of times without ever seeing an Inspector.
Most just walk through an automatic device, and if no issues are found, they leave directly.
However... the Inspector of Happiness City is actually so young?
"Do you have identity badges? If it’s convenient, please let me verify them."
Seeing them freeze, Cheng Ye rephrased his request.
"Yes! Yes!"
The leading man quickly pulled a metal badge from his pocket and held it up to the Fog Cave.
The shape of the badge was somewhat similar to that of Happiness City, but the patterns on the front and back were completely different.
The front had the silhouette of a towering mountain, with sharp lines and the peak covered in snow.
Seeing it clearly, Cheng Ye couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.
It wasn’t unfamiliarity or surprise.
It was that for every Eastern person, this pattern was incredibly familiar.
It was actually the legendary world’s summit... Mount Everest!
When Cheng Ye nodded slightly, the man turned the badge over, revealing a roaring flame on the back, with flames radiating outwards and tiny "Firewood" characters engraved along the edges.
"Wait, let me take a picture."
Cheng Ye quickly took out his Defense Communication device; fortunately, it was in field mode this afternoon, so it wouldn’t lose signal or lock in the Fog Cave.
The people opposite watched the large device in his hand with curiosity on their faces.
Especially as he cracked it open to reveal a camera, they couldn’t help but be amazed.
He opened the identity verification feature and aimed the camera at the badges on the other side of the Fog Cave, taking pictures of both the front and back.
Though the light was dim and the photos not very clear, the authentication system seemed to account for this.
After being prompted to take shots from two additional angles, a few seconds later, rows of information lit up on the Defense Communication screen:
[Identity verification successful, New Province Firewood Shelter City]
[Identity status: Ordinary resident]
[Identity level: None]
"It’s really... Firewood Shelter City!"
Staring at the three lines of text displayed on the Defense Communication device, Cheng Ye trembled all over, feeling an indescribable sense of confusion.
Natural disaster Void Mist, mysterious Fog Cave.
While everyone worried about whether monsters would suddenly come out of the Fog Cave, or if a mother source of infected bodies might arrive...
No one would have guessed that this Fog Cave would first connect to that Super Shelter City, five thousand kilometers away, hailed as the beacon of wasteland civilization!
Should I go over and have a look?
Just a wall apart, a mere step, and he could cross space to reach that most powerful shelter city longed for by countless people.
Cheng Ye felt a stirring urge.
Despite knowing a fair bit, he didn’t think Firewood Shelter City was that much better than Happiness City, but the human instinct for curiosity about the unknown still drove him to want to see for himself...
This wasteland.
This world.
To see what the strongest human shelter city looked like, its shape and form!
But after struggling for a few seconds, reason, like a tightly drawn string, held him firmly in place.
He couldn’t act rashly.
Though the Fog Cave looked stable, who knew if it might disappear suddenly?
If left in Firewood, returning to Happiness City anytime soon would be nearly impossible.
And over there, his role as an Inspector at Happiness City would likely be of no importance.
Though, with his current strength, he might not end up as cannon fodder, life would certainly be less comfortable than in Happiness City.
Yet, as Cheng Ye hesitated, the crowd on the other side of the Fog Cave showed no fear.
Each of them craned their necks, peering inward, inhaling the lingering scent of meat in the air, their eyes full of envy.
Meanwhile, even though it was already late at night, more and more people crowded in.
As the crowd grew, so did their courage.
Someone couldn’t help but step a bit closer and tentatively asked, "Inspector, may we... take a look? We’ll just stand at the entrance and won’t intrude."
From their eager expressions, it was clear they weren’t afraid of being detained in Happiness City.
