Chapter 165: Chapter 164: Protesting on Everyone’s Behalf

Director Ford gave the order but saw his assistant standing next to him, not moving, turned and glared at him, "Why are you just standing there like an idiot?"

"Protesting silently on behalf of all the crew members," the assistant, who had worked with Director Ford for over twenty years, replied. Although they had a superior-subordinate relationship on the job, in truth they had long been old friends, otherwise, he wouldn’t dare to say such things.

"Protest? Protest what?" Director Ford continued to widen his eyes like a bull’s, "I’m feeling annoyed and can’t sleep at home, what’s wrong with doing a bit more work?"

"But you can’t drag the whole crew into suffering with you," the assistant said. "Today’s workload is already heavy, and it’s good enough if we finish shooting by 3 AM. If you add two more scenes, no one will get any sleep tonight. And if you’re just too agitated to sleep and want something to do, you could wipe the crew’s equipment. If you’re even more bored, you could set up all the scenes needed for tomorrow’s shoot by yourself, and no one would stop you."

"Hey, I say, you really are something. I’m already feeling so down, and you still give me sarcastic remarks. Are we still friends or what?" Director Ford felt very frustrated.

The assistant shrugged helplessly, "You’re seriously intent on not stopping until you get her home, aren’t you?"

"It’s just love, look at how you’re making me out to be some kind of tyrant who kidnaps women." Director Ford rolled his eyes at him but didn’t mention making the crew work overtime again.

"Love, my foot, I think you’ve read too many scripts," the assistant said, handing him a drink from the side. "You’ve been chasing her for two or three years, and she hasn’t said yes yet. Can’t you see that? Why insist on hanging on one single tree?"

"I like it," Director Ford took a big gulp from the drink, sighed, and continued, "I understand what you’re saying, but every time I think about it, if the one sleeping next to me is not her, it just makes me feel really uncomfortable."

"You’re stuck in a dead-end," the assistant sighed. "It’s been a few years; try a little harder, and if it really doesn’t work out, just let it go. After all, emotions can’t be forced."

"Alright, alright, I get it. Why are you nagging more than my old granny?" Director Ford waved his hand dismissively.

"Who cares about you? I’m going to reserve some late-night snacks for everyone," with that, he left.

Director Ford held the drink in his hand and sighed to himself. He had been single his whole life up until now, causing the old lady at home to worry so much that she had dozens more wrinkles, but he had this unconventional temperament and never met someone who caught his eye. When he finally did find someone who seemed right, he chased her for two or three years, but still hadn’t won her over. It was troubling.

As Sharon Cheney came out from Director Ford’s place, Bella Acker had already returned to the rest area. Assistant Shaw was handing out bought hot drinks and snacks to the crew members.

"Ms. Cheney, this is the tea I saved especially for you," Bella Acker handed over the tea, blinking with some curiosity, "Ms. Cheney, what’s wrong? You look like you have a lot on your mind." 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

"Nothing, maybe I’m just a bit tired," Sharon replied with a smile. "There’s night shooting tonight too. Will you be able to handle it, coming back straight to shoot after the ride?"

"I’m fine," Bella shook her head. "Ms. Cheney, if you’re tired, you should take a nap. I’ll keep an eye out, and when it’s your turn, I’ll wake you."

"That’s alright," Sharon nodded, "You don’t have to. Shaw will call me when it’s time. You focus on going through your lines in the script, so you don’t forget them and get scolded once filming starts."
