Warhammer Divine Throne-Chapter 627 - 276: The Limits of Human Mastery of Magic_2
"Ollica, can you teach Teresa magic?" Laine suddenly said.
He could now vaguely feel the magic power on Ollica.
This indicated that after more than two years of nourishment, the soul of the Dark Elf had been repaired to a certain extent.
The Dark Elf didn't quite understand Laine's meaning at first. Her amber eyes stared at him for a few seconds, making Laine want to laugh: "What's the matter, you've been looking at me. Didn't you get enough last night?"
"Master~" Ollica knew Laine was joking, but even so, the Dark Elf was a bit embarrassed. She walked with Laine towards the third floor. The Dark Elf wasn't quite sure why Laine mentioned this. She thought for a moment and said: "Master, human magic is too superficial for me. Her Highness Mogiana masters both Sky Element and Life Element spells and is also well-versed in the Divine Art of the Lake Pantheon. As the Divine Chosen Grand Mage she is already able to teach Miss Teresa about magic perception."
"It sounds like you don't think much of Mogiana's magical knowledge?" Laine sensed a different tone in Ollica's words.
"Not exactly, Her Highness Mogiana does have her unique insights on Life Magic and the exclusive Lake Pantheon Divine Art." Ollica calmly shook her head: "But what I want to say is, Her Highness Mogiana may be able to teach Miss Teresa the High Gothic Language and perception of Magic Wind, but she cannot help her advance further in magical mastery."
Laine frowned at this.
Perhaps Ollica was right. Teresa was an Ice Element female sorcerer, Veronica was a witch of the Light and Flame Elements, while Mogiana was a Holy Sanctuary Witch of the Sky and Life Elements and a Divine Chosen Witch of the Lake Pantheon. The magic these three witches mastered didn't interconnect.
Moreover, Teresa's Ice Magic was even more special. Ice Magic was not one of the Magic Eight Winds but it certainly existed. Magic cannot simply be summarized by the Magic Eight Winds, just as Subspace is not solely Chaos. Ice Magic was established by the first Ice Element Sanctuary Witch, Soyka, in the northern Empire, Nord, and Kislev Kingdom. There were many witches of Ice Magic.
"Humans are not a race suited for magic, which is why after the Great Holy War, High Elf Tygris spent considerable effort teaching humans magic. Ultimately, he simply had these mages bind to one Magic Wind, practicing only one for life." Ollica smiled meaningfully: "Because humans at most can master two Magic Winds concurrently, it's better to specialize in just one. It's remarkable enough for humans to master one Magic Wind in their short lifetimes."
The two reached the third-floor Prayer Room, but Laine held Ollica back, signaling to not enter yet. The Count led his close maid into his bedroom.
"Master?" Ollica saw Laine draw all the curtains, and her face with lightly tanned skin immediately turned red: "Master, you want to do it? You can."
"...If anything's to be done, it'll be after things are settled." Laine held Ollica's hand and sat down, speaking seriously: "Introduce to me in detail how the elves use magic."
Ollica looked at Laine, then at the closed curtains, as a light flashed in her eyes: "Master, what aspect do you want to know?"
"Aside from the casting methods of the Magic Eight Winds, what other ways do elves use spellcasting?" Laine was now very interested.
"Apart from the Magic Eight Winds, elves have two more spellcasting methods, the first is called Dale." Ollica spoke softly: "Dale means Black Magic. As everyone knows, to prevent Chaos's invasion, elves created the Great Vortex, which drained the Chaos Wind needed for Chaos's arrival, then filtered out the Magic Eight Winds."
Laine nodded, everyone knew this. The corrosive force of Chaos was greatly weakened in the Magic Eight Winds after filtering through the Great Vortex, making it less likely for human mages to be corrupted by Chaos.
"But within our Dark Elves, there exists a unique technique for directly using Chaos Wind for spellcasting. This technique is bestowed by Hecate, the Black Magic Goddess of the Elf Underground Pantheon; Chaos Mages also use this technique. Dark Magic is exceptionally powerful due to directly channeling the energy of Chaos Wind, but its users are extremely susceptible to Chaos corruption and Frenzy Magic's harm. As the usage of Dark Magic intensifies, the user's soul will gradually be cursed and consumed by Slaanesh." Ollica's smooth, tender hand tightly grasped Laine's rough hand, the Dark Elf leaned secretly against Laine's shoulder: "If it wasn't for Master saving me, in about five years, my soul would have been wholly devoured by Slaanesh."
"No way to prevent it?"
"Yes, through slaughter and indulgence, along with deepening understanding of Black Magic." Ollica nodded lightly: "Slaughter allows Slaanesh to consume the enemy's soul, thus slowing and replenishing the loss of one's own soul while extending life. Indulgence and sensual pleasures provide Slaanesh with spiritual satisfaction, which can equally slow down the soul's consumption... however, since Master isolated Slaanesh's gaze from me, I've escaped the curse."
"Hmm... and what about the other method?" Laine asked, still very interested in this aspect.
