Warhammer Divine Throne-Chapter 464 - 198, The Baron’s Winter Festival
Third floor of the castle, inside the prayer room.
On the white sheets, Mogiana lay flat with her eyes closed. The Lake God Witch used a pillow to cover her face, so no one knew what her expression was like, and only her gentle breathing could be heard.
Laine sat beside her, and the long dress of the Lake God Witch had already been partially undone, revealing her smooth belly. When the fingers of the Divine Chosen Champion gently pressed on Mogiana's abdomen, she let out a soft sigh: "Hmm~" 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
The white boots were placed on the ground, and Mogiana's long gown almost covered the entire bed.
"Your Highness Mogiana, please relax, don't be so tense." Laine noticed Mogiana's body was very tight and whispered in her ear: "It's okay, there's no one else in the room. If you're this tense, you might subconsciously retaliate when I dispel the curse for you later."
"…Things are just as I told you. I was attacked by a Bloodthirsty Bat Wolf; the Golden Waistband protected me, but when I came to, I found the curse's power had grown stronger. The seal you set before was already damaged, so I came immediately." Mogiana still covered her face with the pillow: "My mirror also shattered."
However, the tone of the Lake God Witch was not so calm.
"I always felt this was a premeditated attack, Your Highness Mogiana." A blue spiritual vortex formed around Laine, and his fingers emitted sparks as he continued to undo the gray corset dress, but Mogiana said nothing more, she merely held the pillow tighter.
Sure enough, the black energy had already cracked the silver seal left by Laine: "It's undead magic!"
"…I suspect Theodoric is in collusion with the vampires." Mogiana could feel Laine's rough fingers gently stroking her abdomen, and her voice trembled greatly, so she tried hard to shift her attention: "Perhaps I should send someone to investigate."
"Not likely… my lady, if everything before happened as you described, then Duke Theodoric had many opportunities to act. He wouldn't risk so much, even throwing his city-state into turmoil." Laine shook his head, his spiritual energy entering Mogiana's body to restrain the dreadful undead energy once more.
If he hadn't successfully advanced to Legendary High-Tier before, he might truly have had no way to handle this curse.
"This isn't the first time a duke and his family have degenerated into Midnight Nobles, Lord Laine! We must be wary of the vampires among the Kingdom's elite…" Mogiana suddenly removed the pillow, speaking fiercely to Laine, but soon a strange sensation made her quiet again. The Lake God Witch seemed to realize something, her face flushed as she buried it once more beneath the pillow.
"I understand what you mean, my lady, but I still think Duke Theodoric isn't related to this incident." Laine was quite calm, shaking his head again: "I still hold the view that if he really became a Midnight Noble, he wouldn't choose such a moment to strike."
"I understand, but I will still send my Saintess to investigate." Mogiana could feel Laine's spiritual energy, like the warm sun of winter, flowing through his hand on her abdomen into her organs, fighting and sealing the undead curse. She still wanted to discuss the matter with Laine, but felt something in her throat.
She dared not speak again.
Perhaps a few minutes passed, or maybe it was several centuries. When Mogiana felt weak all over, with a fine sweat on her body, Laine finally spoke: "Alright, it's done. I've reinforced the seal; it won't affect you again for at least a year."
"…Un~der~stood." After a long while, Mogiana finally responded.
"Have a good rest, Your Highness Mogiana, I won't disturb you further." Laine stood up and left the room alone, leaving time and space for the Lake God Witch.
Mogiana didn't linger long; she rested for a while, then had Laine arrange a bath for her. She immediately rode Hilphain to bid farewell and declined Laine's invitation to join him for dinner. Laine didn't mind, knowing the Lake God Witch had many matters to attend to.
Time flew by, and the Winter Festival arrived.
The annual event arrived, the Baron's Domain completely shut down business, and on this day of the Winter Festival, he first enjoyed a turkey feast with his knights, then slipped onto the balcony with Alfred to drink warm butterbeer and watch the snow together.
The two had just bathed together, and Alfred, wearing a white Paladin's winter coat and robe, raised his glass to Laine: "Good friend, this is the second Winter Festival we've spent together."
Laine nodded silently, white ice crystals and snowflakes blowing past the Baron's ears and hair but unable to touch his body. He wore the standard attire of a baron: "Afu, my good friend, do you like it here?"
"It's alright, Nord is cold and barren, but it's where I was born. Yet, I have decided to believe in the God of Justice, so I must spread my master's glory over all lands, which is why I came here." Alfred answered seriously: "In this dark era, people need faith."
