Warhammer Divine Throne-Chapter 446 - 190, The Wrath of the Lake Fairy
The former Holy Grail Knight, Honore de Lys, peacefully departed this world, his soul finally able to rest.
But Laine’s face was filled with an intense seriousness that could not be dispelled. He didn’t say much and immediately turned to Veronica, saying: "The matter is urgent, we won’t rest tonight, let’s return to the domain immediately and discuss!"
"Alright!" Jialan Witch, always a woman who knows what’s important, despite having many private words she wished to share with Laine, promptly responded: "Shall we set out now?"
"Yes! Right now!" Laine mounted his horse at once, pulling the witch onto the saddle.
The ability of the Pure-blooded Elf Warhorse was astounding; Laine, with Veronica, first returned to Leji Village to inform that the Blood Knight had been defeated, then hurried overnight back to his Baron Gene’s Domain, traveling under stars and the moon.
More than three hours later, they reached the upper reaches of the Xinong River. Beneath the dark canopy, Laine held up his Warhammer, relying on the Light of Spiritual Power to push onward swiftly, until finally arriving at Gene Town.
It was still only around four or five in the morning; in Brittania’s winter, sunrise was far off. The gates of the Baron Castle were tightly closed, leaving Laine no choice but to knock.
"My Baron?!" Within minutes, Kasenberg appeared atop the castle tower, dressed in a linen nightshirt and sleep cap. Despite the darkness, save for the faint moonlight, Laine’s Light of Spiritual Power shone brightly. He raised his Warhammer, signaling Kasenberg to quickly open the gate.
"Open the gate!" Laine’s identity, armor, and appearance were distinctive and easily recognizable. Even so, Kasenberg only shouted for the guards to open the gate after confirming several details with Laine.
"Open the gate!" The guards shouted in heavy local accents (?), opening the heavy iron barrier and wooden door. Laine, riding the exhausted Grape and cradling Veronica in his arms, entered his castle. Veronica’s mount, merely a regular packhorse, was already exhausted on the way and was left on the side.
In November, winter, Kasenberg’s breath was a cloud of white mist as he stood straight against the cold with loyalty: "My Baron, why return overnight? Has something arisen?"
"No, I defeated that Blood Knight, but I learned of something astonishing... Someone, take Grape to the stable, add extra straw and feed due to the cold, and remember to include more carrots and black beans!" Laine handed the reins to a guard, who nodded repeatedly.
Grape was extremely tired, having borne the fully armed Laine and Veronica; the Pure-blooded Elf Warhorse had worked up a great sweat. Upon hearing Laine’s words, Grape nodded, neighed, and followed the guard.
The intelligence and capability of Pure-blooded Elf Warhorses were remarkable; they understood human speech, and elves even possessed ways to converse with them. Although Laine didn’t comprehend such communication methods, he could converse with Grape through spiritual energy.
"Veronica, you can rest in my room first. The presence of the Black Chalice Knight must be reported to the Lady immediately; you go rest." Laine strode into his castle, headed to the third floor, indicated for Veronica to rest in his room, then opened the door to his prayer room.
Jialan Witch opened the door to the master bedroom and spoke irritably: "Do you expect me to share a bed with your Dark Elf Maid?"
In the master bedroom’s large bed, Dark Elf Ollica was fast asleep.
"...There’s another bed on the other side of the room." Laine glanced sideways at the witch, pulled Veronica into his arms, and gently kissed her on the lips: "Goodnight, my Great Witch."
"Goodnight, my Great Knight." Veronica only grumbled a bit but soon went in to rest.
Thus, Laine closed the prayer room’s door—a small room with only a few chairs and a shrine to the Lake Fairy. The Holy Grail Knight hastily took off his Spiritual Masterwork Power Armor, knelt down, and prayed: "My Lady?"
Almost instantly as Laine prayed, the prayer room lit up—the Lake Fairy, dressed in a pink and white chiffon long gown, appeared in the room. In contrast to her usual faint smile, her expression was very serious. She first gestured for Laine to rise, then immediately said: "I already know, my Champion. Someone has desecrated the graves of the Holy Grail Knights. They used foul rituals to awaken them and created the Black Chalice Knight."
"This is what I wanted to tell you, my Lady. This matter is very unusual. Even calling back the spirit of a Holy Grail Knight is difficult; but how was Honore de Lys’s spirit called back and turned into a Blood Knight?" Laine repeatedly asked, assuming the Lake Fairy would give him answers right away.
But unexpectedly, the Lake Fairy’s gaze was filled with hesitation. Her golden hair, like a waterfall, hung straight to her ankles, her stunning face flickered with uncertainty, seeming to ponder whether to reveal the secret to Laine.
Laine felt somewhat disappointed, yet he did not pressure her: "If you’re unwilling to inform me, it’s of no concern, my Lady, but we must find a way to handle the Black Chalice Knight; otherwise, over time, the very foundation of the nation will be shaken!"
