War of Roses: The Proud Tycoon,Please Surrender!-Chapter 347 Can’t Remember
The group sat down, and Little Nian waved to the waiter, "Bring the dishes we just ordered to this table."
"Okay, do you need anything else?"
Tang Yuxiu and the others glanced at the menu and ordered a few more dishes.
"Yu Xiu, since when did you have a son? That ’Dad’ was called out so smoothly, don’t tell me it’s not true. I can see right through it, you’re keeping something big under wraps," Lu Fusheng suddenly blurted out. Tang Yuxiu glanced at him, seeing the teasing in his eyes.
Gu Yan was just picking up her drink when she heard Lu Fusheng’s words, and she choked, coughing until her face turned bright red.
Tang Yuxiu looked at Lu Fusheng, obviously displeased.
He resisted the urge to go over and pat her back, to help her catch her breath, watching Little Nian and Little Bao comfort her instead.
"Gu Xiaoyan, how old are you now? How can you still not take care while drinking?" Little Bao said with a serious face.
Gu Yan finally caught her breath and slapped Little Bao on the head, "I haven’t even asked you yet, you little rascal, calling someone... Dad?"
Gu Yan spoke, sneaking a guilty glance at Tang Yuxiu.
Tang Yuxiu looked perfectly calm.
Little Bao rubbed his head, which was slightly sore from the slap, and explained with grievance, "At that time, bad guys were grabbing Little Nian and me, and you weren’t there. I happened to see Dad... I mean, this uncle, and I had no choice but to call him that, so he’d help us."
Little Bao was going to say "Dad" fluently, but Gu Yan’s fierce look forced him to swallow it back, smoothly changing it to "this uncle."
Tang Yuxiu watched them talk, his gaze gentle.
Little Nian also chimed in, "Yeah, if Little Bao hadn’t called the handsome brother Daddy, we might have been taken away. That bad guy even said Mommy, you’re dead. He claimed to be our uncle, I was about to throw up!"
"Damn, his whole family is dead!" Gu Yan suddenly cursed, daring to curse her dead, it was too much.
Realizing it wasn’t right, she immediately shut up, silently cursing her own stupidity.
The others watched silently, each with their own thoughts.
"Mommy, I haven’t even asked you yet, how did you take so long in the bathroom? I almost thought you fell in, you almost didn’t get to see your adorable little princess again."
"And your handsome little son," Little Bao added.
Gu Yan, "...What do you mean, fell in? You’re such a young girl, why do you talk like that?"
Little Nian pouted, looking very wronged.
Gu Yan explained, "I ran into someone in the bathroom earlier, and she stopped me, insisting she was my cousin, calling me an ingrate and a little brat, all kinds of nasty words. I couldn’t hold back and talked back a bit. She even tried to hit me, so I slapped her twice and walked away. I’m telling you, she must’ve looked extremely ugly afterward."
Hearing Gu Yan say this, Little Nian and Little Bao looked upset, "Mommy, who was that bad woman who cursed and hit you? Tell me, let Little Bao beat her up!"
Little Bao nodded seriously, "Yeah, let Little Nian beat her up until she doesn’t recognize her own mother!"
Gu Yan and Tang Yuxiu looked at each other, "..."
These little ones are just too amusing.
Tang Mubei and Lu Fusheng used to think kids were too much trouble and too obnoxious for them, but seeing Little Nian and Little Bao, they suddenly found kids quite adorable.
Maybe having a child wouldn’t be so bad after all.
Lu Fusheng’s expression was distant, lost in thought, while Tang Mubei seemed to be seriously considering it.
Gu Yan glanced at the waiter bringing in the dishes, and reminded the two kids, "You two pipe down now, the food is here, let’s eat."
Little Nian and Little Bao immediately focused their bright eyes on the dishes and started eating without hesitation.
"The food here is delicious, way better than what Gu Xiaoyan makes!"
Gu Yan really wanted to sew the girl’s mouth shut, she couldn’t keep quiet even with her mouth full.
Tang Yuxiu gave Gu Yan a meaningful look, making Gu Yan feel extremely embarrassed.
This little troublemaker was born to oppose her, always making her look bad.
"Gu Xiaoyan, you shouldn’t cook anymore; it’s too awful. Let’s just eat out every day, or you could hire a chef, you can afford it."
Gu Yan silently gritted her teeth, thinking darkly, even if I could afford it, I wouldn’t hire one, so they don’t constantly embarrass me.
The two kids had no idea how their mommy was mentally cursing them.
"Actually, some people do like my cooking..." Gu Yan muttered a small defense. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Upon hearing this, Little Nian and Little Bao paused from picking at the food and looked at her in surprise, "Who? Hurry and tell us, so we can pay our respects!"
"Yeah, neither Little Nian nor I like your cooking. Even Grandpa and Uncle and Auntie don’t like it. Who on earth likes your cooking? We didn’t even know about such a big thing!"
Gu Yan really wanted to knock out these two little troublemakers, they made her lose all face.
But Gu Yan did seriously think about who liked her cooking.
She furrowed her brows, thinking for a while, then shook her head in defeat, "I can’t remember, my head hurts a little."
Hearing her say that, Little Nian and Little Bao got worried, looking at her anxiously, "Mommy, if it hurts, don’t think about it. We won’t talk about it anymore. Even though no one likes your cooking, we all love you very much."
Gu Yan, hearing this, didn’t know whether to sigh or be happy.
Tang Yuxiu watched her without a word, seeing the anxious looks on Little Bao and Little Nian’s faces, it seemed Gu Yan often experienced headaches, and quite painful ones at that. Otherwise, the two kids wouldn’t react so strongly.
He thought, it must be because of that car accident five years ago.
That accident injured her head, not only causing amnesia but leaving her with lingering issues.
In these five years, has anything happened to Gu Yan? How has she managed to live? No, she wasn’t dead at all, so what was the corpse with her DNA in the morgue about?
Since Gu Yan wasn’t dead, why did Yan Shuo arrange a funeral for her? To avoid raising suspicions and to easily move Gu Yan away from him?
Tang Yuxiu had many questions he wanted answers to.
What he wanted to know the most was whether Gu Yan had been okay these years, how long it had taken her to recover from the accident, and how she managed to carry Little Nian and Little Bao, the twins, with her frail body, and how she gave birth to them.
Without thinking too deeply, Tang Yuxiu could already sense a bit of it: she must have endured a lot, it must have been very hard.
But he wasn’t there by her side.
