Chapter 187: Chapter 186: Clash of Ideas

The three Ant-men who were brought into the combat command room were an astronomer, a biologist, and a physicist.

These three Ant-men were the founders of the Peace Faction, and they had been secretly searching for Ant-men with genetic mutations to recruit into the Peace Faction.

Because in a vast tribe, or more precisely, in nature’s creations, there will always be some entities that experience anomalies, creating unforeseen variables.

This is a matter of probability.

Such occurrences often happen within the genetic fabric of a species, just as human societies occasionally have individuals who are extremely tall, a result of genetic mutations that break the constraints of their original genetic coding. Of course, such natural genetic mutations don’t bestow superpowers like those seen in science fiction movies.

And these three Ant-man scientists were precisely such genetically mutated individuals.

Their genes had broken through the genetic restrictions of the Ant Queen, beginning to develop individual thought.

Aware that revealing themselves would bring about their early demise, they carefully conducted their investigations and ultimately found similar brethren, founding the Peace Faction.

Speaking of which, the genetic breakthroughs of these three Ant-men had some similarities.

All of them experienced their genetic breakthroughs while either in contact with or studying alien organisms.

On one hand, their genetic sequences were originally unstable, on the other hand, the habits and thought patterns of the previously captured alien organisms acted as stimuli.

At this moment, the Ant Queen glared furiously at the three Ant-men before her: "You three ungrateful wretches, have you forgotten who gave birth to you and nurtured your talents? Is this how you repay the collective?"

In Ant-man civilization, the Ant Queen has the longest lifespan, typically more than thirty times that of a common Ant-man.

Therefore, each generation of Ant Queens gives birth to countless Ant-men, maintaining the prosperity and operations of Ant-man civilization.

The biologist among the Ant-men said, "We can be loyal to the collective, but are you loyal to the collective, or do you place yourself above it?"

Without waiting for the Ant Queen to respond, the biologist continued, "I have studied the racial and societal structures of many alien organisms and only then did I realize how distorted our Ant-man civilization’s structure truly is."

"Ant Queen, if you truly care for the collective, heed our advice and change this structural model!"

The astronomer said, "Perhaps you have not noticed that our Ant-man civilization’s structure has become a severe constraint on our development. If we had changed this structure earlier during Level 2 Civilization, perhaps we would have reached Level 4 Civilization by now."

The physicist said, "I admit, this model has its advantages, but as times progress, its drawbacks are becoming more lethal. We must make changes."

"You three freaks, to even have such thoughts!"

"We were all born of the Ant Queen and should die for the Ant Queen, as the Ant Queen is the collective!"

"It is indeed so, if not for the sacrifice of the Ant Queen and her continuous spawning over the years, how could our Ant-man civilization develop to this extent?"

"Progress in civilization cannot be forced. You blame the collective for stalling progress, which is utterly putting the cart before the horse!"

"..."

Before the Ant Queen could voice her own opinion, the other Ant-men in the command room immediately started to chastise loudly.

With a graceful raise of her hand, the Ant Queen silenced them, then slowly said, "So, you see, your vision is limited and narrow-minded. How can a societal model that a species relies on for survival be changed on a whim? Both your lifespan and your special talents have evolved with this model and are the most suitable for it."

"I’m not denying that other alien organisms have their own unique models, but every species faces different environmental conditions. If we recklessly emulate others, it could lead to our extinction. And how could you be so foolish to not realize that, since we were able to develop to a Level 3 Civilization with this model, it proves that our model is better than those of the alien organisms. Why should we learn from their backward models? If their models were truly superior, their Civilization Level would be above ours, not below."

The civilizations that the Ant-man Civilization had captured before were all Level 1 or Level 2, truly below the strength of the Ant-man civilization.

The biologist retorted, "You are simply rationalizing. As for the lifespan issue, we could study longevity technology. Without the constraint of a limited lifespan, couldn’t we utilize our genetic specialties even more?"

The astronomer said, "I have investigated the history of alien civilizations. Their failure to develop into Advanced Civilizations is not due to their societal model but rather the shortness of their development time. Given the same amount of time, they would certainly not fall behind us."

The physicist said, "In the end, you are just unwilling to relinquish your position. But I believe that genetic mutation will eventually occur in the Ant Queen, perhaps in the next generation or the one after that. When the Ant Queen experiences a genetic breakthrough, that will be the moment for change in our Ant-man civilization."

"Heh, it seems you have truly been influenced by aliens, to distrust the model that has developed until now and to believe in a backward model from aliens? That relying on a backward model will lead us to enlightenment? How is that different from claiming that abandoning technology will improve Ant-man civilization?"

In fact, when the revolutionary model of Ant-man civilization had erupted, the Ant Queen had contemplated this possibility.

But the thought that if the model was truly changed, the Ant Queen’s position would become virtually nonexistent. And if the biologist researched a biological technology to replace spawning, the Ant Queen would merely exist in name, and might even become a mere breeding tool, locked away in the birthing chamber and constantly induced with drugs to spawn.

The Ant Queen was frightened by the mere thought of such a scenario, so every generation of Ant Queens maintained strict control in this respect.

The Ant Queen added, "It’s no wonder that you would send intelligence to our enemies, the Wandering Alliance, and even wish to use the power of alien civilizations to eradicate our Ant-man civilization. Your thoughts have committed the crime of counter-collectivism. I hereby sentence you, including all members of the Peace Faction, to death!"

"On this point, we must offer an explanation. We never truly wished to see the Ant-man civilization perish; at the time, we merely sought the help of alien civilizations to make our own recognize its flaws and institute change. However, we must admit that the current state of the war has surpassed our expectations. We had not anticipated that the Wandering Alliance, also a Level 3 Civilization, would be so formidable," all three scientists said unanimously.

The Ant Queen let out a cold laugh, "What use is it to say these things now? Your ideology has ultimately plunged the Ant-man civilization into a grave crisis; this is enough to prove that your ideas are wrong. And for this misguided ideology, our Ant-man civilization might pay an unimaginable price!"

"Are you three satisfied now?" frёewebηovel.cѳm

After saying this, the Ant Queen ordered the Ant-man soldiers to escort the three traitors out for immediate execution.

However, what the Ant Queen never expected was that her own guard remained motionless, as if they hadn’t heard her order, suddenly causing her unease to grow.
