VRMMO: World's First Glyphborne-Chapter 129: Rules are Rules
LusciousLox looked up in utter confusion as she felt not just her building fire go out, but her magic become completely suppressed. She tried to conjure another flame, but no matter how much she tried the mana in the air, or even the dregs in her body, refused to listen to her command.
"Three rule violations." Said a deep, rumbling voice from behind her that sent a shiver down her spine.
Her body trembled as she slowly turned around to be met with the burly chest of a Hellion wearing Magus robes. Her eyes craned up until she met the scowling, horned face that was glaring down at her.
He huffed out air from his nose, which released two clouds of thick and pungent black smoke that curled around her head, causing her to cough and hack.
The Hellion continued, keeping his voice to a low rumble as to not disturb the other patrons.
"Three rule violations were detected. Running in the hallways, Excessive Volume in the Library and intent of using dangerous magic in public areas. All three of these are incredibly serious offences.
How do you plead?"
LusciousLox wanted to laugh, to say that the first two weren’t serious and that she was just joking about the third one. But the moment she even smirked, the demon huffed in annoyance and the air around him began to shimmer with a growing heat haze.
As sweat dripped down her face, another voice chimed in before she could speak.
"I would like to say something," Belladonna whispered, rising to her feet and walking over the Fla’mbae.
"I think it would be four, as she also pushed me out of my seat." She shamelessly tattled.
LusciousLox let out a hurt gasp and jabbed a finger in Belladonna’s direction,
"Yeah well, she started it! She pushed me first!"
Belladonna frowned slightly at that, which made LusciousLox smirk in victory as the Hellion turned his annoyed glare towards Belladonna. However he soon raised his head, looking around the room at the other attendants who tried their best to avoid his gaze.
However one unlucky soul didn’t look away fast enough and found himself teleported over next to them, before he let out a resigned sigh.
"You have bore witness to the event, correct?" Fla’mbae asked sternly, to which the man sighed again and nodded softly.
"Good. Then you will indicate the events as they have unfolded."
The sighing man sighed once more, muttering under his breath that he just wanted to study, before looking up at Fla’mbae.
"The girl with the black hair was studying under the silencing spell peacefully. The blonde comes in and starts to threaten her with physical violence, then shouts in a very disturbing manner and pushes her from the chair before threatening her with magic.
These are the events in the complete and utter truth. If I have lied as witness then Truth keeper may strike me down." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
The mans explanation was incredibly brief and told in an entirely tired and monotonous voice, before he tilted his head up and looked at the ceiling as if he was expecting something. The strange part was he almost looked disappointed when nothing happened, before he looked back at the Hellion with tired eyes.
"Can I go back to my studies now?"
"Yes, thank you Larry." Fla’mbae answered succinctly, waving his hand and teleporting the man back to his chair as he disappeared with one final sigh.
More sweat dripped down LusciousLox’s face, and not just from the heat, as she took a few steps back and raised her hands in surrender.
"Now I’m sure we can work things out. I am very influential you know, I could make you totally famous or even get you a nice lady demon to keep you company."
Belladonna hissed through her teeth, wincing at that mistake, as Fla’mbae let out a sadistic chuckle.
"Violence and attempts at bribery have been added to the charge. A witness has bore truth before the gods and the Truth Keeper has deemed their statement as just. Your lack of plea has been noted.
Your sentence is Death by Incineration."
Fla’mbae held his hands out to either side, as twin fireballs erupted in his palm without a word.
"Wait!" Was all LusciousLox was able to say before the fire leapt from the Hellions hands. They were like two flaming serpents lunging towards her and rapidly coiling around her. Her pleas immediately turned to hellish screams as she was forced to endure every single tick of pain, as if her pain inhibitor had suddenly broken for no reason.
But the reason in reality was simple. Nothing would allow someone to escape the punishment of an Amodite. Nothing short of killing them, that was. But even that would only delay the punishment, as when that individual died, they would soon meet the Amodite’s ancestors and realise the one they killed was the nice one of the family.
No one heard LusciousLox’s agonising and horrified screams, however. As an invisible bubble extended around the three of them. It was not unsimilar to the zone of silence that the obelisk created.
Only this one just stopped sound escaping rather than muting it entirely. That way Fla’mbae could revel in the screams without disturbing anyone and, more importantly, not breaking the rules himself.
Belladonna stood by his side, a satisfied smile on her face as she watched his irritating woman burn. When the flaming serpents retreated, there was nothing more than a pile of ash.
Not even her fancy and incredibly expensive robes could survive Fla’mbae’s flames.
The loss of the loot was the only sad part about it, but Belladonna shrugged it off. As thanks for his assistance, she offered him another one of the uncorrupted Sin suckers she had in her bag, before sitting down and going back to her studies as if nothing had happened at all.
Just the same as everyone else.
Although it did take a while for Belladonna to actually be able to study, as her mind was enthralled with the flames the Hellion had produced and his control over them. One day, that would be her.
