Villain's Valor: A Noble Fantasy Resurrection-Chapter 223: I thought they were extinct
The little fairy smiled and extended the black apple towards the plant, which took it with its vines and nodded in satisfaction. After a moment, it also produced a fruit and handed it to the tiny fairy. She chuckled softly, then waved her hands, and specks of black light emerged, surrounding the plant. It closed its eyes, and Anthony watched as its petals turned black.
Anthony opened his eyes and trembled slightly. "Don’t tell me that little one did it again," he thought with a somber expression. The plant glanced at its new appearance and nodded in satisfaction. Anthony opened his eyes wide. "She liked it!" He was bewildered. The tiny fairy also nodded, moving her hands in a farewell gesture, and flew towards Anthony with a shy expression.
The little fairy smiled and entered his soul sea again.
The plant looked back at Anthony and nodded. "Follow me," it said indifferently. Its black petals swayed gently, emitting a subtle glow. Anthony observed it closely and had to admit it looked good. Estefany and Perséfone began to follow the plant. It avoided the area where the waterfall was and led them in another direction.
After a while, the plant guided them to a cave.
It searched for some kind of mechanism and placed its petals on it. The stone moved aside, opening the way into the cave. The three followed. The inside of the cave was like another world. Here, ambient mana was much more abundant. There were some flowers around and a small mountain on which a beautiful tree stood.
The plant positioned itself beside the tree and closed its eyes, apparently sleeping. Anthony observed the surroundings and noticed how beautiful it looked. Nodding towards the sleeping plant, he supposed it had brought them there to rest. He glanced at the two girls and nodded, "Find a place and rest." Even though their mana reserves were full, mental fatigue was another thing.
The girls glanced at each other and walked towards the riverside. They turned to look at Anthony, who understood the message. They wanted to bathe. He nodded and turned around, sitting beside the tree on the small hill. From there, he couldn’t see anything. Closing his eyes, he had some questions and knew whom to ask.
Entering his soul sea, Anthony observed the tree and saw the little fairy hiding behind one of its leaves, looking at him shyly. He chuckled softly, recognizing that the plant had liked his gesture, so there was nothing more to say about it. He gave her a small smile, and the fairy flew away with a smile to perch on Anthony’s shoulder.
He looked at the dragon watching him and asked directly, "What is that plant?"
The dragon, with solemn voice, replied, "It’s a dryad." Anthony opened his eyes surprised. He had thought it was simply an intelligent plant, but the dragon’s answer left him perplexed. "What exactly is a dryad?" he asked, confused.
The dragon explained, "It’s a being directly connected to nature. They can sense when a tree dies or when one is born. It’s still a child, in its primitive form." Anthony pondered for a moment. He knew all the creatures in that place were real; he could feel every time he killed a creature how his soul essence increased, and then his eyes widened.
"Exactly as you think," the dragon continued, looking at him through its eyes. "They have this dryad in one of the facilities of your academy, but..." It paused for a moment before continuing. "It’s a bit strange. The birth of a dryad takes a long time, usually the forest itself, with its essence, creates one of these beings," it explained. Enjoy new adventures from novelbuddy
Anthony looked at the plant with narrowed eyes and asked, "Can any forest create a dryad?"
The dragon shook its head as it explained, "Forests capable of creating a dryad must have sufficient essence to give life to one of these beings. If a forest lacks these capabilities, it will wither and die. Typically, forests with these capabilities are those with a high amount of ambient mana, in addition to having thousands of years of life.
But not only that, they also need the assistance of a being with a high affinity for life, and additionally, the being that helps the forest create a dryad must give part of its soul. As you can see, the birth of a dryad is very complicated. However, this dryad had the assistance of a being with this affinity."
Anthony reflected for a moment, remembering Seraphine Benedetto, the sacred-ranked Elven woman. "In your empire, there are three people of sacred rank, and the only one I can sense capable of giving birth to a dryad is the Elven woman," the dragon affirmed.
Anthony thought for a few more moments, "You said a dryad is connected to the forest where it was born. I’m almost certain this forest isn’t it," he concluded. Considering the presence of corrupted plants and trees, it would be impossible for its soul not to be corrupted as well. "I suppose it’s because of the silver-haired girl. With her artifact, she can create dimensions.
I guess the real dryad is somewhere in her birth forest. After all, it seems this dryad is happy," he added.
He furrowed his brow considering the situation. The silver-haired girl was obviously Crystal, but the plant seemed content. If it spent all its time with its indifference, Anthony looked at the dragon confusedly, "If the dryad were sad, it would simply die. This suggests the forest would be sad. They are very sensitive beings in their early years of life," concluded the dragon.
Anthony expressed his concern, "Don’t you think it’s very dangerous for her to be in this place? If she were to die..." His face reflected grim seriousness. The dragon shook its head again, "She’s protected. She has the protection of the Elven woman and the man on the throne of the empire. Even if you were to attack her with all your strength, you wouldn’t even scratch her.
On the contrary, she could break your arms for trying. Also, I wouldn’t recommend you do it. She has a good impression of you. If you were to attack her, it could generate fear towards you, which wouldn’t be good at all," it explained, while watching the dryad. "I thought they were extinct," murmured the dragon with a hint of melancholy in its gaze.
Anthony felt intrigued, "What do you mean?"
