Villains Act Shamelessly: The Heiress was the Great National Master!-Chapter 303: Celia Chambers’ Younger Sister
Mrs. Sutton was originally angry, but hearing this she was amused.
Regina Chaney was dumbfounded. She looked at Thea Shaw and suddenly, in agitation, said, "What do you mean?"
"What do I mean?" Thea, who never tolerated people like this, retorted, "Your husband did something worse than a beast and yet you don’t consider denouncing him for justice, thinking that you can’t live without him. Since that’s the case, once he’s in jail, you might as well follow him in a show of your great love. As for what to do with your daughter having such a disgraceful father, have you thought about what he did to an innocent girl and how he ruined the rest of her life, and what others are to do?"
"If you want to be bound to your beastly husband, find your own way, but don’t display your lack of virtue here. I call you Auntie Chaney as a junior showing respect to an elder, but don’t push me to say unpleasant words. Don’t associate with me and my mom in the future. Someone like you truly doesn’t deserve to be friends with us. Get lost!"
Thea’s harsh words left Regina Chaney bewildered.
Perhaps finding no point to refute, she looked at Mrs. Sutton, "Is this how you teach your daughter?"
Mrs. Sutton didn’t say that Thea wasn’t taught by her; she just looked at Regina Chaney with disappointment, "Regina, what Thea said isn’t wrong. If you were in the right state of mind, you wouldn’t be here saying such things to me. We’ve been friends for many years; I’ll give you one last bit of respect, please leave."
Regina Chaney’s face turned a mix of green and white from anger. Ultimately, she shot a hateful glare at Thea and clomped off in her high heels, as if she wanted to stomp through the floor.
Mrs. Sutton sighed deeply as she watched her leave. "We’ve been best friends for over twenty years. If it weren’t for this incident, she was a good person. Why can’t she see the truth when it comes to such crucial matters?"
"If she could see clearly, she would have stepped up to denounce him for justice by now."
Thea had no good feelings for this kind of woman, and couldn’t be bothered to say another word.
Mrs. Sutton didn’t know what else to say and could only sigh deeply.
Then she looked at Thea and asked, "What do you plan to do today?"
"Class, then going out to play."
An ordinary day is just that simple and unremarkable.
Mrs. Sutton didn’t care. "You can go anywhere after class. By the way, there’s a banquet in a few days. I’ve ordered a dress for you. Since time is tight, I got what’s available. Give me your measurements, and I’ll have two custom-made for you."
Thea paused for a moment, "Is it this Saturday?"
Mrs. Sutton nodded, a bit puzzled, "How did you know?"
Thea thought for a moment and replied, "Are yours coinciding with Landon’s? Landon asked me to accompany him to a banquet this Saturday, and I don’t need to tailor a dress; he’s already ordered one for me."
Mrs. Sutton: "..."
She looked at Thea up and down with a complicated expression, then resignedly said, "It’s up to you then." 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Thea: "..."
Why does it feel like I’m beyond saving?
Mrs. Sutton had other things to attend to, and after chatting a bit with her, she left. Meanwhile, Thea received a call from Zia Sutton.
The Chambers Family has a younger sister sent by a distant relative. Coincidentally, it’s this sister’s birthday, and the Chambers Family plans to give a small celebration to dispel the recent gloom faced by Celia. Facing Thea, who had helped the Chambers Family, they enthusiastically hoped she could come and join the celebration.
