Villainous Me: Help! The heroines are yanderes!-Chapter 82 - 81: The End Is Now[GTG]
"Can you really grant my wish?" Helen pleaded, her voice trembling with anticipation. π§πβ―ππππππ°π·π¦π.πΈβ΄π
"Of course, and I know exactly what it is you desire," Flora replied with a knowing smile.
"Which is?" Helen pressed, her eyes wide with curiosity.
"It has to do with your brother, wrong?" Flora declared.
"....,"
"I can make it so that it never happens," she continued, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper.
Helenβs eyes widened in disbelief. "Huh? What do you mean?"
"I can make that incident disappear. Your mother, the attack, it would never have to happen but" Flora explained, her voice laced with a power that sent shivers down Helenβs spine.
Tears welled up in Helenβs eyes. "Really?"
A sly smile played on Floraβs lips. "But only if..." Her voice trailed off, leaving the unspoken condition hanging heavy in the air.
Flora then turned her attention to Emily. "You," she spoke.
" I presume youβve already guessed my wish." Emily offered a knowing smile, which Flora returned with a curt nod.
Scarlet, was already anticipating Floraβs next words. Flora simply acknowledged her with a knowing look before turning to Lyra, who sat nestled close to Ryan.
"I donβt know, not really," Lyra admitted hesitantly. "Pehaps in this new world, just make sure Ryan falls hopelessly in love with me." She finished with a playful smile, eliciting a chorus of clicks from the other girls.
"You all might be wondering why I canβt simply travel back in time and take care of these creatures myself," Flora began, addressing the unspoken question in the room.
No one dared to interrupt, but a collective look of curiosity washed over their faces, Ryan included.
"Thereβs a limit to how much I can interfere with fate," Flora explained. "I can manipulate certain events to alter the outcome, but I cannot rewrite it entirely. You were all supposed to die here. If I change that, the records wouldnβt notice. However, if one of you were destined to survive, the records would detect the anomaly, and things wouldnβt end well for any of us."
"What are these records, again?" Scarlet inquired, her brow furrowed in concentration.
"Existence itself," Flora replied cryptically. "The past and the future. Thatβs all you need to know for now."
A thoughtful silence descended upon the group.
"So, essentially, youβre saying you can only manipulate events that have no real bearing on the future?" Emily finally asked, her voice laced with skepticism.
"Precisely," Flora confirmed. "You all share one inevitable outcome: death. So, whatever I do at this point is irrelevant to the records, as none of you have any influence over the future."
"Then how would you be able to take us back to the past without causing a huge ripple?" Lyra questioned, her brow furrowed in confusion.
"No, no, no, you misunderstand," Flora chuckled. "Iβm not directly sending you back in time. The records would pick up on that immediately. All Iβm going to do is insert your existence into that realm."
"But wouldnβt that essentially be the same thing?" Scarlet interjected.
"Not quite," Flora countered. "Taking you back in time directly would forcefully introduce your existence into a world where every existence is meticulously accounted for. It would be impossible to go unnoticed as foreign beings. But by inserting your existence, Iβm essentially making you citizens of that realm. Think of it like migrating to another kingdom. It doesnβt inherently make you a native, but a child born there would be considered one."
"I see," Scarlet muttered, a flicker of understanding crossing her features.
"So, basically, weβll be reincarnated?" Helen clarified.
"Yes, but I donβt intend to replace many souls, as that would definitely draw the attention of the records. So some of you will be entering into existence in the most convenient of situations."
"Convenient..." Ryan echoed, trailing off thoughtfully.
"Donβt worry, youβll understand when you get there," Flora said with a cryptic smile that sent shivers down his spine.
"But somethingβs been bothering me throughout all this," Emily began, her voice laced with suspicion.
"Tessa... Her family was rumored to be working for the dark church, right? Shouldnβt they have known about these creatures?"
"Well, to put it simply, yes, they knew," Flora admitted. "In fact, she and a few of her family members were actually... breeders."
A collective gasp filled the room.
A wave of nausea washed over them. "Breeders?" Scarlet echoed, her voice laced with disgust.
"Exactly what the name implies," Flora explained, her voice hardening. "Theyβre essentially human incubators, nurturing these creatures with their mana."
"Why... why would anyone agree to such a thing?" Lyra whispered, her voice trembling with revulsion.
"The same reason someone might perform a ritual for a demonic contract: power, dear," Flora said, her gaze flickering to Ryan. "Thatβs why they tried to kill you. You discovered Tessa was harboring a strange creature within her. The next thing you knew, the creature tried to take you down, just like they did to anyone who stumbled upon their secret."
"The incident with the gate..." Realization dawned on Ryanβs face.
"These creatures are quite intelligent," Flora continued. "When they realized they failed to eliminate you as a threat, Tessa decided to get rid of you in a way that wouldnβt arouse suspicion. She sent two people, also breeders, to get close to you. When everyone was distracted, theyβd eliminate you."
"Hold on! Are you referring to..." Ryan began, his voice laced with dawning comprehension.
"Yes, your so-called friend, Luke," Flora confirmed. "Thatβs part of the reason you were all still fated to die here. Two breeders within the academy walls, and what they hold within them is powerful enough to destroy the entire place."
"But..." Lyra interrupted, her brow furrowed. "I faced one of them back in the VR world, and I didnβt sense anything wrong with him."
"Because the creatures refused to act," Flora explained. "They were biding their time. Now that the invasion is a success, itβs only a matter of time before they shed those human shells."
"Wait, did I hear you right?" Ryan exclaimed, his voice laced with disbelief.
"You heard perfectly well," Flora said. "The breeders, just like those who contract demons, are fools. Theyβre being used. When their usefulness is over, theyβll be discarded without a second thought."
A heavy silence descended upon the room, thick with the weight of Floraβs revelation.
"Flora," Ryan thought, a silent plea echoing in his mind.
A voice responded within his head, soft and ethereal. "[Yes?]".
"Those heroines I was supposed to conquer... are these all of them?"
"[Of course not]," the voice replied. "[There was one more, by the name of Evelyn.]"
Hearing this, Ryanβs mind flickered back to the girl who performed the ice demonstration in class. He couldnβt help but notice the uncanny resemblance she bore to Lyla from the other world.
"[You never had the chance to go after her since you were already preoccupied with these two]," the voice continued, referring to Lyra and Scarlet.
"I see," Ryan muttered, a sense of understanding settling upon him.
"[But donβt worry, sheβll also be reincarnated.]"
"No, thatβs not it," Ryan clarified.
"[What is it then?]".
"I wasnβt asking because I wanted to conquer her. I just wanted to confirm if Emily and Helen are heroines."
"[Well, Emily certainly is one. She was supposed to meet the protagonist at some point and escape the palace with him, falling in love along the way. But your interference changed a lot of things. The creatures hastened their invasion after you survived their attack, so they never had a chance to meet.]"
"I see," Ryan acknowledged, a pang of guilt twisting in his gut.
"[But in Helenβs case, sheβs not a heroine.]"
"I knew it," Ryan murmured.
"[She was supposed to be the villainess who ultimately meets her demise. But your interference changed her path once again. Plus, if you havenβt noticed, sheβs the only one here whoβs truly bonded with this world emotionally. Thatβs because sheβs originally from here, unlike the rest of you who were reincarnated.]"
"But why reincarnate her then? Sheβs not one of these so-called heroines you want to jog their memories. Whatβs the purpose?"
Floraβs voice, devoid of its usual amusement, echoed in his head. "[Simple. Sheβs close to you.]"
Ryan pondered this new information.
"So, what happens when we get there?" Scarlet, ever the pragmatist, cut through the contemplative silence.
"Youβll be born into a time when the creatures are still planning their first invasion," Flora explained. "Theyβre weaker then, more susceptible. Thatβs your window of opportunity."
"How exactly do we stop them?" Emily, ever the strategist, inquired.
"Ah, I almost forgot that crucial detail," Flora admitted with a playful lilt to her voice. "Before they can fully gain access to a world, they need to obtain its life force. It manifests in various forms, but in this world, it takes the form of a pearl β Nephtyrβs Pearl, to be precise."
A collective gasp rippled through the room.
"You mean the artifact they call the Tear of the Creation Goddess?" Helen questioned, her voice barely a whisper.
"Precisely," Flora confirmed. "Itβs a symbolic title, a veil over the truth. Yes, it birthed life on this planet, but it was never a goddessβ tear. Itβs the lifeblood of this world, its very essence."
"They seek the life force of each world," Flora continued, her voice turning grim. "Once they have it, they use it to weaken the worldβs will, its resistance. Then, they devour it whole, unhindered."
"So... they already have it," Ryan stated, the implication hanging heavy in the air.
"Indeed," Flora confirmed with a grave nod.
*Boom!*
A sudden, deafening boom echoed through the room, sending shivers down everyoneβs spines.
"What was that?!" Lyra shrieked, scrambling to her feet.
"It seems theyβve shed their human shells," Flora said, her voice laced with urgency.
"Shit!" Ryan cursed under his breath.
"Time is of the essence," Flora declared, her blue hair whipping around her face as she stretched out her hand. A massive magic circle materialized above them, pulsating with intricate symbols and arcane energy. It glowed a deep crimson red, layered with countless swirling rings.
"Prepare yourselves," Floraβs voice boomed, echoing in the vast chamber. "The world youβre about to awaken to is one teetering on the brink of oblivion. But you are given a choice: fight and become the heroes this world desperately needs, or watch as it crumbles before your very eyes. Remember, this can only be done once. Thereβs a limit to how much I can tamper with the records. This is your one shot. Good luck."
With that final pronouncement, the world dissolved into a swirling vortex of light and energy, swallowing them whole. Their consciousness faded, replaced by the sweet oblivion of a new beginning.
