Villainess X Villain: They are obsessed with each other!-Chapter 34 -: 33 The third Saint of goddess Benigore.
"So, Uriel, have you made any friends yet?"
Cardinal Raphael asked Uriel as they walked side by side, step by step.
Uriel scratched his cheeks. He looked awkward.
But this look on his face seemed so pure and innocent that Cardinal Raphael stared for a moment.
He thought to himself, ’I was right. He really is an apostle sent by the goddess. The old books say the goddess looked just like this when she came down two thousand years ago.’
His eyes lit up as he kept thinking. ’If it is him... then maybe it can happen.’
Uriel spoke up. "I’m not sure. But for some reason, people ignore me. And they say mean things to me."
This snapped Cardinal Raphael out of his thoughts. His eyes turned serious. "What do they call you?"
Uriel smiled a little. He thought for a second.
"Hmm... what was it? Oh, right." His innocent eyes looked right at Cardinal Raphael.
"They call me ’peasant.’ And they say I’m ’leeching off the cardinal.’"
"But not all the students say that," Uriel added.
"Just a few. They have servants with them too."
"Those spoiled rich brats..." Cardinal Raphael’s jaw clenched tight.
He thought, :It looks like the nobles in the empire forgot how to teach their children good manners.’
But he kept his face kind. He smiled gently at Uriel. "Can you tell me their names?"
Uriel paused and thought. Then he smiled.
"I didn’t ask their names. Hehe, I forgot." He scratched his cheeks again.
Cardinal Raphael let out a soft sigh. He looked at Uriel with a warm gaze.
He gave him a light nudge. "Go on now. The pope and the bishops are waiting for you. I have some important work to do."
"Alright, Father," Uriel said. He gave a quick bow and walked away.
Cardinal Raphael watched Uriel’s back until the boy turned the corner and disappeared from sight.
Then he took one calm step back. His eyes became serious and sharp.
"Captain of the Holy Judgment," he called in a low voice.
A man in black robes appeared out of nowhere. He dropped to one knee in front of the cardinal.
"You called, my lord?" the man asked.
Cardinal Raphael looked down at him. "None of you told me about this matter."
He continued in a cold tone. "I asked you to watch this child closely. You must not let anyone take away his innocence."
"Tell all the nobles of the empire, if their children do not behave, the church will pull back its support from them."
The man in black robes spoke calmly.
"I apologize, my lord. I did not think it was serious enough to need strong action. But we will warn the nobles right away."
The cardinal gave a small nod. Then he spoke again, his voice firm.
"Make sure no darkness comes near him. He must stay pure in both body and mind. Do you understand?"
"Yes, my lord," the captain answered.
The cardinal turned his gaze toward the direction Uriel had gone. His face softened for a moment before it turned serious again.
Meanwhile, Uriel stopped in front of a large wooden door. It was painted in red and white colors.
Knock, knock, knock. He knocked three times and waited.
"Come in," a calm voice said from inside. The door slowly opened.
Uriel looked into the room.
The room was big like a hall. A long red carpet covered the floor. A large chandelier hung from the ceiling with many candles burning brightly.
On both sides stood men and women in priestly robes. They all looked different, but every face showed love and kindness.
Uriel walked inside. He went to the front and knelt down.
"I greet Her Holiness," he said softly.
He was kneeling in front of a woman with long gray hair.
She wore a white robe with red lightning patterns on it.
She looked about 50 years old. In her hand was a golden staff. She looked at Uriel with gentle eyes and spoke.
"Rise, child."
Uriel stood up. He turned and bowed respectfully to the others.
"I greet the bishops and archbishops," he said.
They all smiled kindly at him and waved their hands.
"There is no need for that," one of them said.
"How kind of you," another added.
"It seems Cardinal Raphael has already taught you good manners and values," someone said.
They all smiled and praised him warmly.
Uriel smiled back. Then he turned to the pope again. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
"Your Holiness," he said politely, "did you call for me?"
"Yes," the pope said. She walked slowly toward Uriel.
"Cardinal Raphael told me you are willing to take the trial."
Uriel nodded respectfully.
"Yes, Your Holiness. As you may know, I was an orphan. But since the day I could think, I gave my whole heart to only one being, Goddess Benigore."
The pope smiled. A soft, nostalgic look came over her face as she listened.
Uriel continued in a clear, steady voice.
"Since I was a child, I had to work hard to survive. But I never really faced big problems in my life."
"I believe it is all thanks to Goddess Benigore. She helped me every single time I was in trouble."
"That is why, when Cardinal Raphael adopted me, I promised to devote my entire life to the goddess."
The pope stopped right in front of him. She looked at him with gentle eyes.
"You do know the price, right?" she asked quietly.
"We will not force you. We never force this on anyone. The trial is sacred."
"It must be taken only by someone who truly wants it. That is why no one has taken this title for the past 500 years."
She paused for a moment. Her voice became softer.
"Think carefully, child. You might regret it later. You are still so young."
Hearing her words, Uriel smiled.
This smile was full of strong resolve. It showed clearly in his face and eyes.
"I’m thankful, Your Holiness," he said. His eyes grew steady and determined.
"But nothing can stop me from worshiping Goddess Benigore."
He smiled again, calm and sure.
"And if what it takes to earn this title of devotion to the goddess is just my eyes... then it is nothing."
The pope looked proud.
Not only her, all the bishops and archbishops also showed proud and excited faces. Their eyes shone with joy.
Uriel continued proudly.
"And if it means keeping my body pure for eternity? Then that is nothing too."
He placed his hand over his heart.
"I, Uriel," he said in a clear, strong voice, "will take this trial."
His eyes burned brightly with deep, burning devotion.
"I will become the third Saint of Goddess Benigore!"
