Villain transmigration: The doll maker.-Chapter 105:Missing
I let my mana flow in slowly, the egg seemed to be a bottomless pit as it absorbed more and more.
This made me smile, something with that kind of mana threshold was probably worthy.
"Master, isn’t that too much mana?"
Jeneviv suddenly said breaking the silence. I nodded. The little thing had drained a quarter of my mana and it seems to be drinking even more.
"I suppose..... It’s taking more and more, but that’s also a good thing, as it shows its potential. "
"You should rest then before going back to....look, the magma!"
Jeneviv shouted and pointed to the floor. I glanced down to see that the small rivers were overflowing and under my feet.
They were forming what looked like a whirlpool around the bed. Even while looking down at it, I couldn’t hear a sound from its movement.
"I think you should step back master, the egg might be causing this."
Luna said. I couldn’t agree more.
"I know, it’s such a shame."
I went to remove my hand but something unexpected happened. A crack appeared at the place I had placed my hand.
"It’s hatching, step back!"
I shouted to the others. They all took a step back on command.
I turned my attention back to the egg. More cracks had started to appear.
Hot mana hotter than I could have imagined poured out of the egg with each increase in cracks.
I looked down at the magma. The floor I was standing on had started to break. Magma was leaking into the room.
’This doesn’t look good’
I took a step back and turned to leave but it was too late.
"Lucian....Master!!"
I looked at the shouting luna and seraph and shook my head. I tried to step forward again but something pulled me back.
It wasn’t malicious but the strength was undeniable.
I felt Mother’s power wash over the room as the wall of magma and mana from the egg burst out and surrounded the bed, including me.
"Get out of the house. "
Surprisingly, despite the heavy fire, I wasn’t being burnt or anything. It felt comfortable as though I was being protected held in some sort of embrace.
"How annoying. "
A cold female voice came before a wave of heat was sent towards Mother’s spell circles that were releasing killing intent and her magic.
A clash between the two occurred. The house shook as whatever was inside the egg broke through Mother’s spell easily.
"Many insects entered my domain... they should all die."
"Don’t.."
The chaos stopped at my voice. The cracks on the egg got smaller and smaller until a flash of light enveloped me.
"Very well....child this is for giving me your power...I will be sending them out of my home i do not wish for them to sully my resting place."
I vaguely heard her say as I felt my conscious dissappeared.
’What a relief. ’
....
"Lucian..."
When Seraph and the others opened their eyes, they found themselves sitting on sand with a group of people looking at them in confusion.
Seraph hurriedly sat up and looked around in confusion.
"You won’t find him, he’s still in the ruins."
She turned to look at Donovan who spoke to her, eyes widening in surprise before tears welled up.
"What ruin.. we ..were ..."
"Its the ruin master wanted us to go to... we somehow got teleported there. We’re in the barbarians’ kingdom. "
Donovan said and extended his hand down to her. Seraph hesitated before taking it.
He pulled her up and let her go moments later.
"Young miss..."
She turned to look at the equally worried Luna. They all looked dishevelled and Seraph noticed she had been the last one to wake up.
"Luna...hic.."
Tears started to fall, Luna pulled her into her arms and patted her back softly as she cried.
"Is Lucian okay?
She mumbled softly. Luna nodded.
"Of course, master was the one who told us to leave."
Seraph noticing her own vulnerability stepped back and wiped her tears. She looked around at the other girls to see them all with red eyes.
They had all clearly been crying.
"What should we do now?"
Donovan cut through the tense atmosphere.
"I’ll send a message to the duchess. The two told us we were near a town and we might just be able to get an image stone."
Luna said taking charge of the situation and pointed at two barbarians. The others nodded following her lead.
"Uuh.. can I ask something.. I’m sure everyone wants to know,"
Jeneviv stammered as she tried to find her voice.
"Sure."
"How long were we inside the ruin?"
Luna looked at her straight in the eyes and sighed heavily.
"A week.. We need to hurry. I learnt from the barbarians that the kingdom has already been invaded by the beast tide. It’s not as bad but very soon they will get overwhelmed. "
Luna said. She walked over to the two barbarians who owned carriages and gave each of them two gold coins.
"You’ll need to take us to the best inn and a place where we can find an image stone."
The two men looked hesitant. Luna noticed.
"Is something the matter?"
She asked coldly. They nodded, then shook their head.
"Its nothing like that young lady but we might not be able get an image stone. The ruin city is small it was built around the adventurers who came. I can swear on my life that there is no image stone in the city."
One of them answered.
Luna nodded.
"No worries, we’ll find one way or another to get a message through. "
She turned to look at the others. Jeneviv was still crying softly, Kianah had a forced smile as she tried to cheer up Jeneviv, Nixie’s eyes were still blank, in shock while Seraph was worse.
Luna had never seen her look so small.
When Luna had woken up, none of them had regained consciousness and she had been forced to carry them to the shadows to prevent them from burning in the sand.
The ruin... she had watched it fall into the sand with her own eyes.
To make matters worse...
A strong wind had blown over covering the little mound of sand that stood as the gates.
She couldn’t even find the entrance after digging frantically. The only thing that kept her going was her master’s words of reassurance.
She knew deep down that he would never die. She could still feel the spell inside her body whichmeantt he was still alive and well.
She just had to stay and wait. Her master will come back to her.
"Get in the carriage, we’ll send a message to the duchess in the town."
She just hoped nothing catastrophic would come out of it.
.....
Duchess Lilith sat on her chair and looked down at the letter she had gotten just a few moments ago.
The sound of beasts roaring and swords slicing flesh would occasionally break into her tent.
Her hands shook as she read the news about her missing son but she managed to maintain her composure despite the storm building inside of her.
She had received news of the beast tides just two weeks ago and now she got the worst news anyone could ever ask for.
She stood up abruptly the chair falling behind her but she didn’t care.
Her attendant opened the tent and looked inside in confusion.
"Is something wrong Duchess, i heard a fall...Are you okay?"
He asked her after noticing her worried face. The duchess didn’t answer. She hurriedly picked up most of her important things and walked out of the tent.
"Duchess, where are you going?"
The man asked.
"The duchy."
She said coldly.
"What! but the beasts. They’ll breach the perimeters if you leave. This will have catastrophic consequences!"
He tried to convince her his face losing colour as he glanced at the numerous beasts the soldiers were fighting.
"What’s that got to do with me, I only came here to help. My duchy is safe."
"You’ll be accused of treason if you leave the battle.."
He tried threatening. The duchess chuckled in mockery.
"If they can get rid of everything that is."
"But, the duke is..."
"I do not have time for you, I’ll be leaving."
A teleportation spell appeared under her and she disappeared before the man could react.
His head rolled off his body moments later and fell onto the ground. He didn’t even notice how he died.
A blue rotating spell appeared in her office then her body materialised. She didn’t even have time to rest she was already moving.
Duchess Lilith hurriedly walked out of her office and went to Lucian’s laboratory. She walked through it in familiarity and came to a stop in front of one specific cylinder.
"Guess you’ll be going on your first trip."
She pressed the button to drain the fluids in the tank and picked up the still sleeping child. Lucian had left her in her care.
"Duchess, are you really sure about this?"
The butler asked her. Duchess Lilith nodded.
"Whatever took my son, was strong enough to break my spell."
The butler’s eyes widened. He bowed and stepped back.
" I’ll buy as much time as I came duchess."
The spell materialised below her and she disappeared. She was only a mother after all.
