Villain Saving System (BL)-Chapter 75 - 3.15 Natural Playboy
Chapter 75: 3.15 Natural Playboy
Oliver whipped his head around, his expression the epitome of shock and disbelief. "What...?"
Did he just hallucinate or... no—how could such an offer come out of Altair’s mouth? Oliver must have been dreaming of it. Yes, he must have conjured it up because he had fantasized too much about Altair and one of the scenarios involved the two of them living in the same house—and shamelessly, the same bed. Waking up to the sunlight streaming in through the gaps in the curtain, the Alpha’s bronze skin illuminated by the daybreak, his soft breathing and arms around Oliver; everything he could have asked for. But no. Oliver slapped his cheeks with too much force than expected and offered the surprised Alpha a sheepish smile. "Did you just say something?"
Lu Yizhou repeated himself. "I was just asking whether you want to move in with me."
Oliver’s eyes widened. So...he wasn’t dreaming? He discreetly pinched his thigh and sucked in cold air. It hurts like hell, all right.
Seeing the cat omega frozen up in shock, a sigh escaped Lu Yizhou’s lips. The scene from a few days ago kept repeating in his mind, much to his own dismay. Oliver, gurgling blood, his painful expression, the extremely pale complexion. Blood. A lot of blood. It made him nauseous. And then, Lu Yizhou made everything worse by losing control of his pheromones. "I...am worried." The words came out like a broken dam. "The doctor indeed said that your condition has stabilized and now that everyone knows your status, no one shall be so stupid as to court death with you anymore. But still, who knows what could happen? I can’t do anything in school because our building is separated but at least, I want you to be in a place where I can see after that. I want to be able to confirm your safety with my own eyes..."
Oliver gawked. This was the most he had ever heard the Alpha talk. From the span of weeks Oliver had known him, he certainly wasn’t a fan of talking. Even with Oliver he would only give answers as concise as possible—although Oliver knew that he was listening attentively. But now...he was voicing his thoughts, almost rambling, because of worry? Something seemed to explode in Oliver’s heart and before the Alpha could finish talking, he had scrambled up and ran into his arms, hugging him tightly. The back of his eyes stung. He could count the number of people who were ever worried about him; Haga, the class monitor, his homeroom teacher. Their concern was genuine yes but everything became different when it came to this man whom he was hugging. Oliver just...felt so full, so happy and content. Just like he had the whole world in his embrace.
Lu Yizhou caught the Omega’s body and paused. "... What’s wrong?"
The corner of Oliver’s lips curled despite himself and he burst out laughing. At this moment, nothing mattered other than answering the Alpha’s question. "Gladly..." He murmured into the man’s shoulder. "I will gladly move in with you."
Oliver had thought that he would have difficulty getting permission but the move was unexpectedly smooth. His Emperor Father gave his approval even before Oliver finished his sentence despite this being a matter of his unbonded omega child moving in with an unbonded Alpha whom he had only known barely less than a month. Oliver had no idea whether he should laugh or cry; he knew that what occupied the Emperor’s head was only the successful connection of two kingdoms but Oliver couldn’t care less. For the first time, he was glad that he was a royalty. With his father Emperor’s approval, everything seemed to move forward easier.
Rosemane was, of course, unreconciled yet she could do nothing as she was still under supervision and she feared that Oliver would blabber his mouth and tell everyone her involvement in Cathy’s plan—in which she believed that she was innocent—but when she came to confront Oliver about it, what she got was only the cat omega’s impassive reaction.
"I don’t care." He relished in the sight of Rosemane’s bloodshot glare and her sickly pallor. Apparently, she had had nightmares for a few nights, unable to sleep for fear that her reputation would take a hit once the truth came out. Oliver had no heart—alright, he admitted that he forgot—to tell her that the rumors had been flying all over the place and the reputation she was so adamant on protecting was currently in jeopardy. He continued, "You should continue what you have always been doing; stay as far away as possible from me and I will do the same. Farewell, sister."
It was as if their role was reversed. Oliver stepped into the light with his chin held high, proud and content whereas Rosemane drowned in the shadows, glaring at his back resentfully. Grievance, fury and hatred filled her red-rimmed eyes. Presumptuous...! How dare Oliver talk to her like that?! Who gave him the courage?!
Altair? Hah! Rosemane rolled her eyes. That beastman was only an envoy for God’s sake! No matter how attractive he was, how beautiful his beastly signs were, at the end of the time, he was only a commoner! But Rosemane... Rosemane had ambitions higher than that! She wanted to wed another royalty, to let her other siblings know that she was far above them. Oliver was so arrogant that he forgot his place only after getting a commoner Alpha. Then, Rosemane would get her revenge by getting married to a Prince from Versatine Kingdom!
She had decided... She would definitely marry into Versatine’s royal family and remind Oliver all over again how he should stay beneath her forever! Rosemane’s eyes were burning with brand new determination and she drew her gaze away from Oliver’s back, turning back to her room with her chin held high.
When Rosemane was busy brewing a grand plan, Oliver was still busy retrieving his belongings. He didn’t expect that he would meet difficulty when it’s the time to bid goodbye to Haga. The old nanny held his hands tightly, eyes brimming with tears of concern. "Must you do this so fast? It’s still not too late to move in with him when you have already been marked."
He knew where her concern lay. But Altair was unlike any other Alpha. He was unlike his father Emperor who, after taking in his omega father and successfully impregnating him, turned around and brought in one concubine after another, even when the child in his womb hadn’t taken form yet. Oliver clasped his hand over Haga’s and gave a wide smile. "Don’t worry, he will be good to me. Haga I..." He had never told anyone before, not even the related party but this was Haga so he thought it wouldn’t hurt to lay his heart bare. "...I love him. Not the kind of love that’s driven by pheromones and lust, but I really really love him for who he is." He exhaled and smiled. "And I trust him enough not to break my heart."
Haga still couldn’t let go of her worries. This was no ordinary Alpha but the Crown Prince of the neighboring kingdom! Who knew how his true colors were? Alas, she couldn’t bring herself to grumble about her paranoia, especially when she saw a smile on Oliver’s face which she hadn’t seen before. A truly joyous, peaceful smile. "Alright." She gave up in the end and smothered Oliver into a tight hug. "If anything happens, you can always come back here."
Oliver burst out laughing. "I will."
His things had already been packed by high ranking servants the Emperor dispatched and when he arrived in his room, it was already empty save for a few useless pieces of furniture. Oliver rummaged through the bottom trunk of his bed and pulled out a small box from the hidden space, blowing the faint dust on the surface away. He opened it to see a few small trinkets, unfinished little socks or sweaters and old jewelry. The only keepsake of his omega father.
Oliver seldom opened the box as he deemed himself not sentimental enough to reminisce over the belongings of the person he had never met before. However, he couldn’t deny the rush of warmth every time he saw it. No matter how weak his omega father was, he had awaited his child’s arrival and successfully given birth to Oliver on his own.
He was once loved. And that was enough.
Oliver closed the box and brought it out, once again spending a good few minutes to bid Haga farewell. When he came out of the Palace, his eyes lit up as he saw someone already waiting there, leaning on the sleek car with a thoughtful expression on his face. Oliver was suddenly filled with the urge to tease him thus he tiptoed around the Alpha and closed his palms over his eyes from behind. "Guess who I am~"
Lu Yizhou snorted in amusement and pulled the Omega’s hand down. "Childish." He commented and Oliver stuck his tongue out playfully. When his sight landed on the box clamped under Oliver’s armpit, a frown appeared on his face. "That’s all?"
"What?" Oliver blinked and followed Lu Yizhou’s eyes, realization dawned on him. "Oh, this is my omega father’s keepsake. The rest of my things will arrive in your place soon."
Still, he owned too little things. And too shabby for a Prince, Lu Yizhou added in displeasure. Nevertheless, he held the words back and merely opened the door for Oliver, tilting his head to beckon. "Climb in."
Oliver swooned at how gallant and suave his natural movement was. Imagining Altair driving a car, one hand resting languidly on the steering wheel and the other easily maneuvering the gear stick was enough to make Oliver’s drool pooled and he swallowed. He couldn’t begin to comprehend it; how could someone be oozing with sexual charm just by merely breathing? However...
"We... aren’t going to fly?" He glanced at the wings behind the Alpha’s back. Last time, his mind was muddled due to the heat, causing him to miss the marvelous experience of gliding freely across the sky. Oliver hoped that his tone didn’t betray how hopeful he was. "Don’t get me wrong." He offered a sheepish smile and obediently climbed into the passenger seat. "I was just asking casually."
Seeing the cat omega snuggle in the seat hugging the box with no intention of moving, Lu Yizhou leaned forward to pull the seatbelt across him and locked it in place. Oliver’s breath abruptly ceased from their close proximity. From such a close distance, he could count every strand of the Alpha’s light eyelashes. It didn’t help either when Lu Yizhou turned sideways and spoke with a light exhale, his tone impassive as always yet still laced with an underlying gentleness. "The weather is getting cold lately. I don’t want you to catch a cold."
Oliver swore half of his soul floated out right there and then.
He could only give a response when the Alpha had already shut the door gently and circled to get into the driver seat, which was long overdue but who could blame Oliver’s head for getting short-circuit? "O—Oh. Thank you, Altair. You’re so...considerate..."
The Alpha simply hummed and started the car, driving it smoothly along the road.
Oliver withdrew his gaze outside and pressed his forehead against the glass window, cursing at how excessive his reaction was toward every single thing the Alpha did or said. The coldness of the surface didn’t succeed in dissipating the scorching heat that almost burst forth his chest. He gritted his teeth.
Natural playboy! Altair was definitely a natural playboy!
