Chapter 39: Zaratul’s Demon Army [3]

Julian noticed Elena’s deliberately aloof reaction while he and Puck interacted.

The strange reaction made him think. ’Is she jealous?’

’Uh, no, this looks more like she’s afraid of something or someone’. He was perplexed. ’Is she afraid of Puck?’

Julian doubted, then another name came to his head. ’She’s afraid of Lilith?’

And then his vivid imagination cooked up a story, a story involving all the powerful women in his cabinet here in Dreadmoor.

Out of all his main female subordinates, Elena was the only one who came and became part of Zaratul’s army while claiming that it was on the premise of his strength rather than the prospect of becoming part of his harem.

Lilith was madly in love with him and didn’t shy away from expressing her feelings, though Julian already confirmed that she was all bark and no bite already when it came to experience in bed.

She loved Zaratul and wanted to have kids with him to revive her race.

As for Pandora, the Succubus Princess was the most blatant of them all as she openly showed her love for Zaratul in any way and setting that she could.

As for Xoreth, the powerful Catfolk is a carefree and frolicking Mage who heard of Zaratul’s fame and led by curiosity and the fantasies in her head, she sought him out, eager to conquer his heart and become his main woman.

If there was one girl Lilith loathed the most besides Pandora, it was Xoreth, she was too bold for the Vampire’s liking.

As for Puck, she may look small but she’s not young.

She didn’t become a Level 98 A Rank Warden in just one day, she was literally one of the strongest Fairy in the world.

Just like Xoreth and Pandora, Puck was enamored by the fairytale called Zaratul and ran from home to pursue her fantasy, abandoning her life as a Fairy Princess just to enter the core of Zaratul’s circle.

All these people had never been shy of showing their love and affection, the only one who hid her affection behind layers was Elena.

Maybe it was because of her Class, maybe it was because of fear of Lilith, maybe it was because of her personality but unlike the others Elena had never openly voiced her love and affection for Zaratul.

Just like the men in the core of Zaratul’s circle, she claims to follow him because he was the strongest man that she’d ever met.

At some point, Julian almost believed this too till his first interaction with her today. That simple interaction told him all that he needed to know that like the others, she was secretly in love with him.

’There truly are all kind of women,’ he thought. ’They all have different flavors and fetishes’.

Throughout this time, Puck clung to him like a shadow.

She ignored Elena completely as she floated in front of Julian, complaining about his neglect and why he didn’t visit her yet since he woke up.

She didn’t give Julian time to respond at all as she spoke very fast in a grievant manner, Julian almost thought she was rapping.

Seeing her talk and nag and look so weak, if Julian didn’t know better, he would have really thought she was just a harmless and helpless Fairy.

"Oh no... I think I might faint," Puck sighed in an exaggerated manner as she gently rubbed her forehead, then she added teasingly. "Unless someone very kind catches me".

Julian chuckled. "Why would you faint?"

"Because of her!" She immediately pointed at Elena accusingly. "She’s been overworking me while you were not here!"

"Every day, she makes me come here to teach these guys!"

Elena interrupted calmly. "Training is very essential to ensure that the Lord’s army is kept in tip-top shape and ready for war".

’You’re right!’ Julian gave her an imaginary thumbs up.

But Puck was not having it as she sighed. "I’d rather stay locked up in my room than be here. It’s cozy and far better than this smelly, ashy place".

Julian looked at her with a curious expression on his face. "What do you do in your room?"

Puck immediately smiled. "Well, I sing, and I read novels too!"

At the mention of novels, her tiny fairy wings flapped rapidly in excitement. "Novels are so sweet, it makes you feel like you’re in another world entirely". She sighed in a dreamy manner.

"Reality is finite, but in novels, you can live multiple lives and lifetimes. You can live countless realities. You can experience love, hate, sadness, happiness, all through novels".

She sighed in a dreamy manner. "Novels are the best creations of our world".

Julian was surprised. ’She’s a novel enthusiast?’

Noting his silence, Puck immediately revealed a sad look on her face which made her look even cuter. "You won’t leave me, will you?"

"I want to be with you today!"

Julian smiled. "Fine, let’s go to the library together".

"Yayyy!" Puck cheered excitedly.

Julian finally looked at Elena and she reacted as with a carefully curated expression on her face, she calmly nodded. "I’ll supervise the army’s training".

Hearing her, Julian felt a bit guilty because he interrupted her personal training this morning.

’Oh well...’

Once he revealed his intention to Puck, the Fairy finally made the illusion that she created to round up the training session with the group of Demon Archers, and finally she led Julian straight to the library.

"Close your eyes". She said with a smile.

Julian did, then...

Ethereal Step!

With a flash of greenish white qi, they both disappeared.

"You can open your eyes now". She said with a cute smile.

Julian opened his eyes and saw himself inside the familiar library.

"Cute," he commented. "Thank you".

Puck jumped excitedly. "You’re welcome!"

BZZZ!

Rune immediately appeared before them. "Welcome Ms. Puck," he greeted respectfully then he focused on Julian. "Master, what kind of books do you want to read today?"

"I’m not going for any new books yet," Julian replied. "I’ll go for ’Understanding Gomorra’ again".

Rune nodded, then he focused on Puck. "What of you, Ms. Puck?"

"I’ll read what Zaratul reads!"

Julian fell into a daze.

’She’s the first to call Zaratul by his name,’ he was stunned. ’Damn, she’s the cutest and boldest of them all!’

Well, Puck did exactly like she said as she clung to him and sat beside him in a cute manner, reading the book with him.

["Understanding Gomorra."]

In a few minutes, Julian lost himself in the book as he read in-depth this time.
