[Bonus Chapter for hitting the power stone Goal last week! I never forget so buy that castle!]
The training courtyard was silent. A cool breeze swept across the stone floor, rustling Kaelan’s dark hair as he stood motionless, his sharp crimson eyes locked onto Yevan.
The sun was beginning to set, casting long shadows over the yard, but Kaelan barely noticed. His entire focus was on the man standing in front of him.
Yevan looked as relaxed as ever, his golden eyes half lidded, his posture casual. He didn’t even look like he was preparing to fight—his hands were tucked behind his back, his body upright yet loose.
He wasn’t tense, he wasn’t even bracing himself.
But Kaelan knew better.
This was the stance of someone dangerous. Someone so experienced, so skilled, that they didn’t even need to act tough. Because they were tough.
"The rule is simple." Yevan’s voice was calm, almost lazy. "You win if you can land one clean hit on me."
Kaelan didn’t reply. Words were unnecessary. His body moved before his thoughts even finished forming.
BOOM!
He shot forward, his foot slamming against the ground with terrifying force. His entire body was like a bullet—explosive, precise, unstoppable.
His first strike was a blur, a straight punch aimed at Yevan’s chest with insane speed and power. If it landed, even someone as strong as Yevan would feel it slightly.
But it didn’t land.
At the very last second, Yevan tilted his body—just slightly. Just enough to let Kaelan’s fist brush past him without even touching his clothes.
Kaelan’s expression didn’t change, but inside, he was already calculating. ’Fast reaction. Minimal movement. He didn’t waste any energy.’
Fine. Then he’d go faster.
Kaelan’s body twisted, shifting his weight seamlessly as he followed up with a brutal elbow strike aimed at Yevan’s ribs.
Again, Yevan dodged, stepping just half an inch to the side. Kaelan had barely missed, but it might as well have been a mile.
He didn’t let up. His fists were like a relentless storm, launching attack after attack, chaining punches, elbows, and knee strikes together so fast they blurred.
His fighting style wasn’t about waiting. It was about pressure, aggression, forcing the opponent to react, not giving them time to think.
It was extremely dominant. Just like the new him.
But no matter how fast or aggressive he was—Yevan was untouchable.
Every attack Kaelan threw, Yevan dodged with barely any movement. A slight step here. A subtle shift there.
It wasn’t flashy, but it was perfect. He never wasted energy, never made unnecessary moves. Kaelan felt like he was punching air.
Kaelan’s mind raced. This wasn’t working.
His opponent wasn’t blocking, wasn’t counterattacking. He was just... dodging. And he was doing it so effortlessly it was infuriating.
But Kaelan wasn’t stupid. He wouldn’t just keep repeating the same attacks like an idiot.
He wasn’t the same as before.
He adapted fast. Every failed attack was data. Every dodge from Yevan was another piece of the puzzle.
His attacks slowed—just slightly. He was thinking now. Calculating.
Then he saw it.
A pattern.
Yevan had one weakness—his habit of leaning just slightly to the right when dodging close range punches. It was so subtle most people wouldn’t notice, but Kaelan wasn’t most people.
Time to end this.
Kaelan feinted again—a wild right hook. As expected, Yevan tilted to the right, avoiding it effortlessly.
But Kaelan had already moved.
His left elbow came out of nowhere. A brutal, precise strike aimed at the exposed side of Yevan’s jaw.
CRACK!
The hit landed.
Yevan’s head snapped slightly to the side, his green eyes widening for just a fraction of a second.
The courtyard fell into silence.
Kaelan lowered his arm, exhaling slowly. His heartbeat was steady, his expression unreadable. But inside—he was satisfied.
Yevan reached up, rubbing his jaw thoughtfully. Then, to Kaelan’s surprise—he chuckled.
"Well." Yevan sighed, shaking his head. "Looks like I lost."
Kaelan simply stared at him, his green eyes gleaming. ’Of course he lost. It was to be expected.’
He had reached the Ordinary Level Attainment!
Yevan studied him carefully before smirking. "Ever since that assassination attempt, you’ve changed. You’ve become colder, sharper. Your improvement is... unnatural."
Kaelan didn’t respond. His lips curled slightly, but it wasn’t a smile—it was something far more dangerous.
Yevan let out a deep breath, then straightened. "Alright. I did make a bet, didn’t I? You won. That means I owe you something."
Kaelan’s fingers twitched slightly. Finally.
This was what he truly wanted.
Yevan’s second Soul Weapon.
Kaelan had been stunned when he first learned about it—not only did Yevan awaken two Soul Weapons, but one of them was a rare Special Grade Elemental Mark.
That meant he had control over an element—something incredibly powerful and highly sought after.
And Kaelan wanted to know exactly what it was.
But Yevan wasn’t an idiot. He fixed Kaelan with a sharp gaze. "Before I show you, you need to swear on your Bloodline and honor that you won’t reveal it to anyone."
Kaelan didn’t even hesitate. "I swear."
He said it instantly.
Because it didn’t mean a damn thing to him.
Bloodline? Honor? He didn’t care about any of that. If he ever wanted to reveal Yevan’s secret, he would.
The only reason he wanted to even know was so that he could use it against him if necessary.
Yevan studied him for a long moment, then nodded. "Follow me."
They walked deeper into the estate, past the main halls and training rooms, until they reached a secluded private courtyard.
Kaelan instantly noticed the barriers surrounding it. High stone walls. Protective formations. This was a place meant to keep secrets.
Yevan stepped forward and raised a hand. "Stand back."
Kaelan obeyed.
Then—power erupted.
A suffocating, crushing pressure filled the air, weighing down on the entire courtyard like an invisible force. The very atmosphere darkened, thickened, twisted.
And then—it appeared.
A glowing black and purple mark burned onto Yevan’s forehead.
The moment it emerged, the shadows in the courtyard began to move.
Not just flickering. Moving. Pulsing. Writhing. As if they were alive.
Kaelan’s pupils shrank. His mind instantly pieced it together.
Darkness.
A forbidden element.
No wonder Yevan was so secretive. If the Empire ever found out—he would be labeled as a demonic soul master.
Kaelan remained still, but his mind was racing.
This was information worth more than gold.
His lips curled into a slow, knowing smirk.
Interesting.
