Village Doctor's Women-Chapter 246 - 240 Some Little Tricks
"There’s no need to be so surprised. It was just a few little tricks."
Wang Jian said with a smile, "When I was taking your pulse just now, I was concentrating on regulating your body’s condition. Given your previous state, medicine wasn’t having any effect, which is why I used this method."
Lin Shu nodded in understanding. "Indeed. I saw a doctor before for my declining energy, and another for my headaches... The medicine had no effect. Instead, I ended up unable to sleep and nearly had a nervous breakdown."
"But this time, it feels completely different." As Lin Shu spoke, he looked at Wang Jian with an uncanny expression. Wang Jian’s feat had truly shocked him. He and Wen Sheng had even run up to feel the air, checking for strings or ropes.
However, the evidence showed that what Wang Jian had used wasn’t a magic trick... it would be more accurate to call it actual Magic.
Lin Shu no longer saw Wang Jian as a mere doctor but as a superhuman, his gaze burning with intensity.
"Doctor Wang’s Medical Skills are simply a miracle," Lin Shu declared. He decided the title of his song would be "Miracle," and a rough creative direction was already forming in his mind. "I think I know how to write this song now. However, I might have to trouble you for the next few days, Doctor Wang. I’d like to observe you at work." The awe in his voice was palpable, a clear sign of how deeply Wang Jian had impressed him.
As for Wen Sheng and Angel, their initial shock had already faded. Regarding such an unbelievable event, even without finding any evidence of trickery, they preferred to believe it was just a performance. Angel even decided against including the footage in her documentary. She figured no one would believe it; they’d likely dismiss it as a stunt, which would undermine the entire documentary’s credibility.
If I had only seen Wang Jian’s Telekinesis, I might have thought the same as Wen Sheng and the others. But having experienced it firsthand, it felt completely different.
Wang Jian shrugged, not refusing the request. He simply reiterated the condition he had given Angel earlier. "As long as it doesn’t interfere with me treating patients, you can do as you please."
"It definitely won’t," Lin Shu said with a laugh. "I know what it’s like to be disturbed while working. I wouldn’t impose on others what I wouldn’t want for myself. You can rest assured, Doctor Wang."
With that, he took the initiative to lead Wen Sheng and Angel out the door.
Stepping into the courtyard, Lin Shu took several deep breaths. The expression on his face was one of a man who had been given a new lease on life.
Angel laughed. "You’re being a little dramatic, don’t you think? Was it really that big of a deal?"
Wen Sheng chuckled along but kept quiet. Unlike Angel, he saw Lin Shu as a major figure in his industry and didn’t dare to be too familiar. Still, as he laughed, he cast a curious glance back at the clinic. Watching the patients stream in and out, he found it hard to calm his racing thoughts.
"It’s not an exaggeration," Lin Shu said, glancing at Angel. He knew who she was, and who her father was. "But this feeling of complete relaxation, as if my very soul has been cleansed... it’s not something a young lady like you would understand."
Angel rolled her eyes with a dismissive "pfft," chalking his words up to the typical melodrama of an artist. Still, she couldn’t deny her curiosity about the trick Wang Jian had performed. "So, what do you guys think? Was that Telekinesis real or fake?"
For a moment, all three of them pondered the question.
They had walked over to the large tree where the village elders were enjoying the shade. Following their example, they sat on the steps, feeling the cool breeze drift down from the mountains. Not one of them could answer the question.
After a moment of thought, Wen Sheng finally spoke up. "I think it was real. Doctor Wang seems like a trustworthy person."
Angel instinctively nodded before catching herself. Trustworthy, huh? "You just met the man, and you’re already saying he’s trustworthy? I’m starting to think he hired you as a shill."
Seeing her reaction, Lin Shu smiled and clapped Wen Sheng on the shoulder. Despite having only just met Wang Jian himself, he readily jumped into the conversation. "I feel that way too. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but Doctor Wang has this special aura about him that unconsciously draws your gaze and makes you feel at ease. I believe every patient who comes to see Doctor Wang feels the same way. I think... the sense of trust Wen Sheng mentioned probably comes from that."
Angel was stunned. Thinking back, she realized it was true. She and Huang Long had felt something similar during their first conversation with Wang Jian. Now she knew it wasn’t just her imagination.
Their conversation wasn’t quiet, and the elders cooling off nearby could hear everything.
Hearing Lin Shu’s words, an old man chuckled and chimed in, "This young man has a good eye. That boy Wang Jian is the most promising young man in our village."
"Exactly," an old woman added. "Xiao Jian is very reliable. Whenever we’re sick, we just go to him, and he fixes us right up. If you go to the hospital, wouldn’t you need medicine, injections, and IV drips to get better?"
"That’s right, that’s right! I’ve had this rheumatism in my legs for so many years. During the rainy season, it feels like it’s going to be the death of me. But every time I go to Xiao Jian, he gives it a good rub, and my knees feel so warm. Forget the rheumatism and chronic cold legs, I feel several years younger!"
"I don’t know what Xiao Jian’s hands are made of. They’re as warm as a furnace."
The elders knew Angel and her crew were from a television station; by now, almost everyone in the village was aware that a TV show was being filmed about Wang Jian. So, they all wanted to say a few good words for him, but as they spoke, they couldn’t help but share their own treatment experiences.
Wang Jian had basically treated all the elders’ ailments. There were those he had treated for rheumatism, some for bruises and fractures, others for colds and fevers, and even some for gout. Some conditions couldn’t be cured completely, but he could always ease the symptoms during a flare-up. Others that could be cured were healed over the past few months.
When it came to describing what kind of person Wang Jian was, they were undoubtedly the most credible witnesses. That was why they couldn’t help but interject when they heard Lin Shu and the others praising him. If it had been about any other young person in the village, they wouldn’t have bothered.
An uncle with a large belly, who looked just like the Maitreya Buddha, also spoke up with a cheerful grin.
Angel recognized him immediately. It was Li Dayu, the village chief of Paigou Village.
Li Dayu was reclining on a lounge chair, holding a radio and a fan, clearly relaxing to some music.
"If you ask me, Xiao Jian is so trustworthy precisely because his skills are so incredible. Tell me, is there anyone in our town who’s witnessed his skills and doesn’t trust him?"
Li Dayu chuckled. "At first, as the village chief, I had to create a group chat to promote him. But after a while, my work was done."
"Oh?" Wen Sheng asked curiously. "Sir, what happened then?"
"Then?" Li Dayu closed his eyes and said calmly, "People started spreading the word themselves. One person told ten, and those ten told a hundred. Soon, it wasn’t just the nearby villages; people all the way in town had experienced what Wang Jian could do. A doctor who can cure you without pumping you full of medicine or making you go under the knife... who wouldn’t trust someone like that?"
"Do you know what people call Wang Jian now?"
Li Dayu cracked open one eye, posed his question, then closed it again.
"What do they call him?"
"The Miracle Doctor."
