Apexion frowned, then asked,

"And how would submitting to me rectify that? How would it push your path forward?"

"I do not know how, or if it ever would" she answered softly "I am making a wager. Betting that following you would lead me to the truth of sound,"

while she spoke music started echoing from her body.

Apexion could feel the pureness and truth radiating from her melodies, but he still questioned further,

"Why? Why make such a wager?"

True Sound paused for a moment, gazed into his eyes before answering,

"For you have a future."

For some reason, those words triggered something in his subconscious mind, and his eyes blazed,

'future, future, future, future.'

A second later, his eyes flashed with understanding, then dimmed and,

[I accept!]

He agreed to the contract, after which True Sound vanished.

Standing on his path, Apexion opened his eyes and gazed at the ethereal, colossal string that suddenly appeared directly beside, but slightly above, his path.

Shing!

The string was colorful, and was composed of countless smaller strings that intertwined together. It radiated an aura that caused his path to tremble slightly, and countless melodies that soothed one's spirit and triggered enlightenment rang out from it.

🎼Lala lala laaaalala!

On top of this string stood the mythical beauty, True Sound. She gazed at him with a kind gaze, and at that moment,

Shing!

A connection formed between her path, his path, and the rest of the paths. After which,

Boom!

His path started shining brighter as her path poured ten percent of her path essence into it.

An instant later, it stopped, and he felt the quality of his acquired path abilities such as innate barrier and regeneration increase by ten percent.

He also gained control of ten percent of True Sound's path. Only ten percent, because her path was at a higher tier than his. As he grew stronger, the amount would increase.

Feeling the quality of her path essence, he understood what tier of existence she was, a half-9th-tier existence. Many ideas about how he could utilize her flashed through his mind. He gazed into her eyes and spoke in a calm tone,

"True Sound, tell me about the noteworthy things you have learned and seen through your millions of years living."

The moment he gazed at her path, he knew her name.

True sound sat down on the top of her path and began to tell him about her life: her clash with the Techno Lord, the hunters, going to the past and encountering an Era Lord, to her stepping into the half-9th tier.

As she spoke, he realized many things such as the hunter he had killed might not really be dead, for they seemed to be clones of an unknown entity that even someone like True Sound didn't know.

To be honest, he had suspected this possibility based on the fact that all the hunters wielded the exact same law.

Even though it was possible for multiple creatures to comprehend the same law, it would never truly be the same, for it would be influenced and shape by the comprehender's individuality. Even if they had the same exact abilities, they would never truly be identical.

But the hunters wielded the exact same law, he was certain of that.

Two, his theory of the possibility that Forbidden Echoes might be the gateway to the past and the future was correct they were the loophole in the time seal.

'As expected, nothing can truly be perfect.'

Soon, True Sound's retelling ended. Her recounting didn't even take a second; it would have taken less if it weren't for him interjecting with questions.

He instantly dissected the information, took what he deemed important, and ignored the rest. After which, his voice rang out,

"Do you know what the source of the contract is?"

"The source of the contract? Well, the will that manifests when the contract is triggered is the will of the universe."

'The will of the universe!!!!'

His mind roared with extreme shock, and even terror. The universe having a will was the thing he hoped for the least, a possibility that should never be possible.

For that would mean

every life, every death, every moment… might be shaped by its thought.

Something that he could not accept.

And he couldn't help but wonder,

'Was it really not sentient?'

Many thoughts flashed through his mind. Suddenly, True Sound's voice pulled him from his thoughts,

"The will of the universe is not sentient. It is merely only instinct-based akin to a beast…Soon you will also confirm this fact once you reach my rank."

'Yes, it can't and must not be sentient, for if it was, I might never achieve apex.'

He calmed his racing mind, then asked another important question,

"Have you met the other Pathfinders or any other beings inside Ocean of Origin?"

'Ocean of Origin… a far better title than Sea of Law,' thought True Sound before she answered his question calmly,

"I have met one other Pathfinder, and that is my destined nemesis the Techno Lord. We have battled several times inside this realm in the distant past. As for other beings, yes, I have met hundreds. These beings are known as Law Beasts.

You see, after a very, very long period of time, the law dimensions below us undergo death and rebirth, and each time before they die, they use their last remaining strength to give birth to a creature.

These creatures embody the law of that dimension. They come in all shapes and sizes. They are akin to Innate Ones, except they are stronger, can travel between dimensions, are mostly unintelligent, and most importantly these creatures have the ability to absorb path essence."

'Absorb path essence…'

Path essence, was akin to fuel or a boosting agent for path. If weakened, the innate abilities of his path would also weaken. For example, the evolution that grants five times increase in all aspects might be reduced to four, three, or even one. Something he couldn't allow. Many ideas and countermeasures flashed through his mind… but he would have to get his paws on one of these creatures before he could come up with a solid countermeasure.

A second later, he asked her another important question about her rank,

"What is Master Law?"

Master Law is the law that ranks above Grand Laws.

True Sound sat silently for a second before she spoke,

"I am Master, and all others are my slaves."

She then gazed downward toward one of the grand law dimensions and calmly commanded,

"Dance!"

After which, Shing! The entire dimension suddenly morphed into a humanoid being of the Law of Water. Then it started dancing, twirling, and tapping,

Whoosh! Tap! Tap! Tap!

Apexion's mind buzzed with complex emotions as he gazed at the scene.

'The ability to wield lower laws regardless of whether you comprehend them or not… Just this ability alone makes those who comprehend a Master Law untouchable to those who did not.'

His body started to pulse slowly as he began to doubt his safety. He doubted if the figure before him could take control of his law from him. Suddenly, True's sound voice rang out,

"No need to worry, for even I cannot defy the contract, nor can I take control of a law as complex as yours."

After she spoke, she gazed at him and said,

"Sing."

After which, he felt a force wash over him but nothing happened proving her words to be most likely true. Reason why 'most likely' because he wasn't sure she had actually used the full strength of that ability. freewebnøvel.coɱ

But on the other hand, he was certain about the contract, because it remained the strongest thing he had ever come across.

So he put those thoughts at the back of his mind, and their discussion continued. Some time later, they delved into the essence of each other's path.

True Sound's melodic voice rang out as ethereal musical notes materialized and danced around her:

"I am sound and frequency. My law encompasses all things, all concepts."

"All things sing on frequency. The stars hum in their spirals. The wind plays the mountains….Even silence is not empty it is merely the space between tones.

Even death, time, and fate play tunes, incredibly beautiful ones... I listen not to dominate, but to attune. Through resonance, I reshape the world, not by force, but by harmony."

"When I weave a melody true enough, it reshapes the world without resistance. That, is True Sound, the all-inclusive melody."

Apexion's eyes shone with many thoughts, then his majestic voice rang out,

"I am Apex. I am not of harmony, but of absolute dominion. I climb above all things, then take them for my own."

"I am not all-inclusive, for in existence, there can only exist a sole dominator. One Apexion!"

"Apex does not care for any existence but its own. For all others exist either as shadows in Apex's background, casted by the radiance of its everlasting throne, or as tools in Apex's ascension."

He boldly revealed his true nature to her, for he could not lie to her for beings at their level could instantly see through falsehoods and even if she was repulsed by his nature and regretted her decision to aligned with him, it was already too late, for the contract has already been solidified.
