The battle between Roza Thaglas and the S-Ranked merman was coming to an end in the skies.

One aerial region over Baga Island was completely influenced by frost power, while the other had a strong presence of elemental water Skills executed in their most lethal forms.

However, if one looked closely, the region covered in frost was slowly but surely establishing its dominance over the water typhoons that protected a bruised and battered merman.

As a newly promoted S-Ranked being, Roza wasn't much of a challenge to veteran S-Rankers. However, she was more than enough for someone like Shir's S-Ranked subordinate, who also happened to have been promoted to S-Rank not too long ago.

Furthermore, Roza's Elemental Attainments were obviously influenced by Eren due to their special connection. One could say that she had access to more in-depth knowledge of the same subject she and her opponents both studied.

Additionally, Roza was the incarnation of one of the Ars Goetia demons, who happened to hold the identity of the Paladin of Pain in her previous incarnation. As Roza's identity merged with her true demonic self during the battle, she began to awaken her dormant potential.

Just like the Paladin of Pain, Reva Rain, Roza could now sense that she could use the pain she inflicted on others to strengthen herself. She used her battle with the S-Ranked merman not only to stabilize her status as an S-Ranked entity but also to fine-tune her connection with her true demonic self and all her previous identities to a certain extent.

This was not to say that Roza's personality was changing. She was nothing like Reva Rain, even though they both shared a common link in the form of their main identity as one of the 72 Ars Goetia Demons. However, she was now beginning to appreciate her demonic heritage with even more clarity and resolve than before.

Roza was more glad than ever that she had chosen Eren as her backer instead of one of the seven well-established Demon Princes.

No matter how many advantages the Demon Princes held over the True Inheritor of Elder Ichor — who seemed to be nothing more than a mortal ant in front of them — Eren could do something for her that those mighty beings couldn't: help her overcome the demonic hierarchy using his own peculiar ways.

'This… this feeling… this power… hehehe… Will… will I be able to become one of the Seven Demon Princes if I stay with my liege? How awesome would it be if I were given the authority to lead an entire Demonic Plane of Existence all by myself?'

Roza couldn't help but ask herself similar questions as she experienced the power of demonic might coursing through her veins.

The S-Ranked merman, on the other side of Roza's aerial area of influence, was in a miserable state. He gritted his teeth and clenched his fingers as he looked at her with a mix of anger, frustration, and fear.

The merman had thought he would be able to defeat someone like Roza easily because he had sensed she was a newly promoted S-Ranked entity. Although he was in a similar situation on paper, his actual standing was much better due to the unique perks and blessings granted to him by the Sea God Raashim's temple.

His superior, the demi-god Shir, had not been stingy when it came to offering the merman his share of benefits either. He had been rewarded with various precious potions and multi-use artifacts, enabling him to exert his S-Ranked capabilities to their utmost potential.

And yet, Roza had ultimately overcome all of the merman's unique advantages — and on his own home turf, where he was naturally supposed to have the upper hand. If Roza's slightly unstable aura hadn't given away the fact that she was newly promoted to S-Rank, the merman would have assumed he was facing a veteran powerhouse of the same realm.

The merman decided to resort to threats to contain the danger in front of him. He concluded that as long as he kept the enemy S-Ranker occupied, she would eventually be surrounded by the Sea God Raashim's forces. After all, Baga Island was their undisputed stronghold, and it was Roza and her allies who had recklessly barged into it.

"You… you will not get away with—argh!"

The merman had just begun to threaten Roza in a cold tone when his mouth abruptly released a painful shriek. It took him a moment to realize that several palm-sized ice spikes had pierced the skin of his back.

Despite being infused with a dense concentration of ice-element mana — enough to freeze thousands of mortals in an instant — these spikes were surprisingly stealthy in nature.

What's more, for some reason, the pain induced by these ice spikes was far greater than the actual damage they had inflicted. Even though the spikes had only penetrated an inch or two into his skin and flesh, he felt as though they had pierced straight through his body.

This was clearly the manipulation of soul-stirring pain — an ability once wielded by the Paladin of Pain, Reva Rain. It had now reawakened within Roza Thaglas in a different form.

Roza didn't hesitate once she found an opening. She quickly used her S-Ranked powers to completely suppress her opponent. She then closed in on the merman before impaling him with even more pain-inducing ice needles.

In the end, Roza drowned the merman in a storm of ice needles and ice spikes, completely taking control of the aerial battlefield above Baga Island.

No matter how tough the S-Ranked merman was, he eventually couldn't hold out under Roza's relentless attacks. After a few seconds of struggle, he died. His sorrowful face spoke volumes about the injustices he had suffered at Roza's hands. He could never have imagined that even an S-Ranked powerhouse would resort to sneak attacks against a fellow opponent. Where was Roza's pride as an S-Ranked powerhouse?

Roza was obviously molded differently than the rest of the Kaizers in Labh Salem. Under Eren's influence, she had become even more cruel and sneaky than she had been as a demonic practitioner, all while maintaining her cold and aloof persona.

Meanwhile, Osha Daman had also killed two wyverns after battling both of them at the same time. She had also taken care of their close allies. After dealing with her immediate opponents, she returned to the sea and began helping the four Demon Earls hold the line against wave after wave of Sea God Raashim's supporters.

At the same time, Shir himself had beads of sweat trickling down his forehead as he tried his best to maintain the seal on the suppressed sea monster. His expression grew uglier as he realized his side was slowly losing control over the overall situation.

Baga Island was clearly the main base of operations for the Sea God Raashim's temple. The various Arrays and unique territorial advantages they held against Eren's forces were nothing to scoff at.

However, at a critical moment, Eren's side revealed one more trump card — the emergence of Empusas!

At the same time, the battle between Eren and Marina didn't seem to have an end in sight.

Usually, when two powerhouses fought, the battle would be decided quickly — and in most cases, almost instantly. For example, Roza's battle with the S-Ranked merman and Osha's confrontation against a bunch of wyverns.

This was because the Elemental Attainments and Paths that mighty figures had access to would vastly differ from each other even if they were capped at S-Rank. However, Eren and Marina seemed to be locked in a stalemate due to the unique advantages each of them possessed.

Both had suffered greatly during their battle. Despite the near-endless vitality they both possessed, they were beginning to slow down as a consequence of their relentless attacks on each other.

It seemed the battle would end in a draw. However, Marina's psyche had been affected by her opponent. She had always considered herself one of the superior beings under the divine entities.

With a few thousand years of continuous growth, it was possible for her to wield divine might in the future as well. For a true dragoness with the status of an S-Ranked being, a few thousand years were really nothing — merely a blink of an eye.

As such, Marina had never considered herself any weaker than the S-Ranked demi-gods who still roamed the face of Labh Salem. In fact, her identity as a true dragoness had etched pride and arrogance deep into her bones.

This was why she was only allied with the Sea God Raashim's temple instead of outright joining it as one of its followers. Had she chosen to join, the Sea God Raashim would have undoubtedly granted her his Faith-based God Spark instead of offering it to Shir.

She could have easily become the sole superior emissary of the Sea God Raashim, which would have given her even more resources at her disposal.

Yet, her pride as a true dragoness had never allowed her to follow anyone — not even a True Immortal. It wasn't that she considered herself more powerful than the gods.
