Chapter 45 - 36: The Silent Observer

Location: Tokyo – Ruins of a Cursed Battle Site, Nightfall

The city was quiet, unnaturally so.

Smoke coiled in the moonlight, trailing up from the still-warm carcass of a massive cursed spirit. Its shattered face was frozen in agony, half-melted into the sidewalk. Sirens howled somewhere distant—but no one would respond. Not here. Not to this.

And from the shadows, he watched.

A ripple in space blinked out of existence like it had never been there, and Leon stepped forward—barefoot on concrete, his long coat sweeping behind him like night itself.

But this was not his true body.

This was the clone.

And this body... was something entirely different.

Leon's clone looked up.

All around him, cursed energy clung to the air like smoke. The battle between a sorcerer and a curse had only just ended. Blood painted the walls. The spiritual residue still echoed faint cries of rage and hatred.

But Leon... remained still.

His silver hair shimmered faintly, unnaturally smooth beneath the dim light. His eyes, usually glowing, were dimmed—black sclera, thin streaks of Void-blue spiraling slowly through his irises.

He walked forward, tracing his fingers through the cursed residue. It wrapped around him instinctively... then collapsed.

Absorbed.

"This energy is crude," he murmured. "But familiar."

He remembered something similar—malice made manifest, like back in the DxD world. But this... felt angrier. More human.

He stepped around the corner, completely unseen, his aura perfectly masked. Down the alley below, a figure limped away. A young sorcerer, battered, breathing hard, unaware of the gaze on him.

Leon didn't move to help or harm.

He simply... watched.

His goal wasn't to interfere—not yet.

"This world breathes curses... born from the pain of the living. But what if pain could be redirected... refined?"

A grin touched his lips.

Gojo Satoru opened his eyes.

He'd been mid-nap in the lounge, head resting on his arm when he suddenly jolted upright. His expression tightened, a rare seriousness crossing his face.

"Something... changed," he muttered, adjusting his blindfold. "A new presence... subtle. Beyond Special Grade. And it's not a curse."

He stood, stretching lazily—but tension hung in his shoulders.

"Guess I'll have to keep my eyes a little more open tonight."

Back in the Shadows

Leon's clone stood atop a rooftop now, gazing over the city like a silent god.

This was a new game board. But he wouldn't charge into it like a conqueror.

No. That wasn't his way anymore.

He would learn... watch... and when the time was right, reshape the world from within.

"Let the cursed kings sleep," he said, eyes glowing faintly. "They'll wake... soon enough
