Venerable Demon King & The Doting Immortal (QT)-Chapter 570: Rescue mission
Chapter 570: Rescue mission
Xiang Yu looked at him, satisfied, before pulling him along. They walked further into the forest, the sound of crunching leaves under their feet. Soon they reached the edge of the woods, where a massive cliff dropped steeply into the valley below.
In the distance, the research centre stood, its silhouette a stark contrast against the sky. Xiang Yu pointed toward it, his determination evident. "That’s what we are aiming for."
Han Xin was so surprised to see it. It’s not that he didn’t trust Xiang Yu but that after all these years, he had never known that there was the overseer’s research centre so close to his territory. This made him feel ill at ease.
He turned to his sweetheart. "Are you sure they aren’t expecting us?" he asked looking at the facility that seemed highly secure.
Xiang Yu chuckled softly, a sound that vibrated through Han Xin’s chest as he wrapped his arms around Xiang Yu’s waist, drawing him closer. The warmth of their bodies melded together in the crisp air, and Han Xin couldn’t help but bury his chin into the crowning cascade of Xiang Yu’s hair. It was comforting, familiar.
"No one would dare strike at this place," he replied, the hint of a smile evident in his tone. "Not unless they wanted to meet their end."
"Except us," Han Xin murmured, inhaling the sweet floral scent of Xiang Yu. The intimacy of the moment pulled him deeper into the reality of their plan. It was a daring assault that would provoke the bear but he was excited for it.
He wanted to burn the world with his lover and once everything was in ashes they would retreat to their castle and live in peace.
"Yes," Xiang Yu answered, flicking his eyes toward the fading light. "Except us."
Han Xin lifted his chin slightly, his breath brushing against Xiang Yu’s neck and said, "I have your back." Xiang Yu smiled happily, thinking soon his entire family would be together.

The research centre lay still under the dull glow of the moon. Clusters of tall buildings loomed around it, but the only sound that broke the eerie quiet was the chatter of guards communicating through crackling radios. They spoke in low tones, unaware of the storm about to descend upon them.
Without warning, a violent explosion erupted in the south, shattering the stillness. The ground trembled as a plume of smoke and debris shot into the night sky. In an instant, the peaceful atmosphere dissolved into chaos. The guards scrambled, urgency overtaking their previous calm as they rushed towards the source of the blast.
Xiang Yu stood at a distance, his focus unwavering. He raised a hand, signalling his team to move in silently. They needed stealth. The perimeter was lined with laser fences, sharp and unyielding. With careful coordination, the team navigated the barriers, slipping through like shadows.
In the midst of it all, Su Jing harnessed her awakened power. With a flick of her wrist, the floodlights fizzled and erupted, plunging the compound into partial darkness. The night swallowed the stark white light, cloaking their movements in shadow.
Han Xin moved with intent, his expression serious as he coordinated with his team. Each member understood their role: they had been separated and assigned to target different buildings within the research centre.
The atmosphere was charged with anticipation. This was the moment they had been waiting for. They braced themselves as Han Xin whispered their final instructions, and then, one by one, they melted into the dark.
Han Xin moved with purpose, his senses razor-sharp, eyes flicking from shadow to shadow. Xiang Yu followed close behind, clutching his silenced handgun. His expression was calm but alert.
Han Xin reached the heavy metal door, keycard in hand. He swiped it swiftly, the reader emitting a soft beep before the lock disengaged with a quiet click. Xiang Yu had replicated Xue San’s key card and handed them out so they had access to the entire building. There was no door in this property they couldn’t go through.
The dim lighting inside flickered uncertainly. red emergency lights cast ominous shadows across the sterile, high-tech interior. The alarms blared softly but persistently, a red glow from the emergency system flashing hypnotically.
Behind him, Xiang Yu took a position near a side corridor, gun raised, eyes scanning the darkness. Han Xin moved through the entryway silently, every step deliberate. Inside, the hallway stretched ahead was lined with sealed lab doors, some with class walls. frёewebnoѵēl.com
They split up with Han Xin heading directly toward the central control room to gain access to the surveillance system, while Xiang Yu peeled off toward the labs shooting anyone in sight. Using silencers, their shots were muffled, barely a whisper in the oppressive silence.
The two of them reunited and advance forward. Every door they passed was a potential ambush, every corridor a trap but they pressed on with calculated precision.
Having dealt with all the hostiles on that floor and there was no sign of resistance, they approached the elevator at the far end of the corridor. Xiang Yu swiped the keycard, and with a soft hiss, the doors slid open, revealing the darkened cabin.
Han Xin stepped forward, turning to him with a concerned look. "Are you okay?" he asked, voice low but steady.
Xiang Yu nodded, offering a faint smile. "I am fine. Let’s just finish this."
They entered the elevator, the doors closing silently behind them. As the lift began its descent, Xiang Yu couldn’t help but say, "Xin-ge, be careful, okay? Don’t take unnecessary risks."
Han Xin bit his lower lip and hesitated before leaning close and planting a heated kiss on Xiang Yu’s lips. Xiang Yu was startled. Before he could respond to the kiss, Han Xin pulled back.
The doors suddenly slid open again on their destination. It was a sterile room with white walls that reflected faint red emergency lighting. Five scientists, pale and wide-eyed, stood in the middle of the room.
