Vampire's Veil Of Obsession-Chapter 116: A Great Husband..A Great Dad
Chapter 116: A Great Husband..A Great Dad
"What are your vampire skills?" Lilia asked quietly, taking a slow sip of her tea. The calm breeze pushed some strands of her hair backward.
Zethan didn’t answer immediately. A smirk played on his lips.
"Oh sweetheart, I have lots of skills. Which one are you curious about specifically?" he said, his eyes glinting with mischief.
"Oh please, this is no time to be that proud, shameless man," she replied, her smile breaking through even though she tried to hide it. Her inner cheeks puffed slightly, betraying her amusement.
She continued, "You mentioned you’re a pure-blood vampire back at home... I’m guessing you’ve lived for a century and—"
"That’s true. I have," he nodded.
Lilia stilled.
It hit her then—after all these months with Zethan, she had never asked him this. Or had she? She couldn’t quite remember.
"How old are you?" she asked softly.
"Twenty-six," Zethan replied calmly, eyes locked on hers. Lilia nodded. He looked twenty-five, twenty-six, in fact. Was that why she never asked? She had just assumed... she must have known.
’No, Lilia, you did wrong. Don’t try to cover yourself,’ her inner thoughts screamed at her.
"When is your birthday?" she whispered.
"Next week."
Lilia’s eyes widened. Her hand flew to her lips as the teacup slipped from her fingers. Zethan caught it swiftly, though some of the hot tea spilled onto his arm. His skin hissed slightly from the burn.
Her lips trembled. "Oh no—I’m so sorry, I—" she began, panicking.
Zethan calmly placed his own cup on the table. Honestly, if someone walked in, they’d think she was the one who got burned.
"Don’t worry, sweetheart. It’s just a burn," he said gently.
Lilia jumped to her feet. Her glare was fierce now, clearly annoyed.
"What do you mean ’just a burn’? You’re hurt! I need to get something—" her voice trembled, eyes watering. She was furious with herself for being clumsy—and with him, for not telling her about his birthday.
Just as she turned to leave, Zethan caught her wrist and gently pulled her down into his lap.
"It’ll heal in no time," he said softly.
"You trust your vampiric abilities too much. It’s like the universe knew you’d be like this—that’s why they didn’t make you human," she muttered, her tone somewhere between worried and sarcastic.
Zethan chuckled. She looked like she was about to cry, blaming herself and still mad he kept his birthday a secret.
Her overthinking began to kick in. Imagine she hadn’t asked earlier... what if she—
Still sitting on his lap, he hugged her.
"I’m the one hurt, yet you look like the one in pain, loris," he murmured.
"Mr. Zethan."
The voice startled Lilia—Lucas.
Lilia froze, eyes wide. She quickly buried her face in Zethan’s neck, cheeks flushing.
Why didn’t he tell her someone was coming?!
There were no words. It seemed they were communicating through their eyes. After some time, Lilia heard the footsteps fade—but she still buried her face in his neck, even though she was aware Lucas was now gone.
"Seems like my wife wants us to do it right here... not a bad idea actually... in fact, we—" Zethan teased.
Lilia immediately slapped her hand over his mouth.
"You’re going to need some language lessons, my husband," she muttered, exasperated.
Zethan’s lips curved into a sinfully gorgeous smile.
"Oh yes, wife. After that lesson, then I’ll teach you mine... Equilibrium," he spoke with a slow, rich drawl.
Lilia’s cheeks burned, but she managed to glare at him—which looked more inviting than threatening.
She turned and noticed a first aid box now sitting on the table.
"First aid."
"You were so worried," Zethan said calmly. "Let’s treat the burn properly."
Lilia nodded and opened the box, pulling out cotton wool, spirit, and a cute, simple bandage. She glanced up at Zethan.
"If it hurts, don’t hesitate to tell me. I’ll stop," she said gently.
Zethan nodded, watching her golden-brown eyes—those magnetic eyes that crumbled all his composure.
He knew the burn should’ve healed by now, but just for her... he was holding it back.
"Sss," he hissed, pretending it hurt.
To his surprise, she raised his hand and blew on the burn softly.
"Is it... PWOO...better? PWOO..." she asked, still blowing.
Zethan nodded. She carefully rested his hand on her lap, still sitting on his lap, and took out the flower-print bandage. She wrapped it with delicate precision.
Zethan watched her in awe.
Who would’ve thought? Mr. Zethan Lyall, walking around with a pink bandage like some child who just got a star in school for getting all answers right. He chuckled.
Lilia whipped her head toward him. Busted.
"So it didn’t hurt?" she accused, narrowing her eyes.
"It did! It really did!" he defended, grinning.
Lilia giggled and pinched his cheek, tapping his head gently. Then, without getting off his lap, she hugged him again, arms looped around his neck.
"You didn’t tell me about your birthday..." she whispered.
She paused. Her face turned to the side, pressing deeper into his neck. Zethan stilled as her breath warmed his skin, sending shivers down his spine in a maddeningly seductive way.
"F*ck," he whispered under his breath. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
Lilia continued, her voice cracking slightly.
"What if... what if your birthday passed... and I didn’t even know?"
Zethan didn’t move.
"That does not matter, loris, as long as you are with me," he said as she pulled away softly.
"Yes, it does... it matters a lot, Zethan. That’s a day to be remembered. Promise me you’ll never miss your birthday again."
Zethan’s expression darkened for a fleeting moment, something unreadable flashing in his eyes, but he finally nodded.
"You know," she continued, "I have to teach you a lot. On our children’s birthdays, we surprise them. It hurts a lot when birthdays are forgotten."
There was something distant in her voice now, like she spoke from experience.
"When is yours?" Zethan asked quietly.
Lilia fell silent. She turned to him, slightly surprised.
"Mine’s still far off—next year," she said with a small smile.
Zethan nodded slowly. Then, with a soft intensity, he added, "Why don’t you start teaching me now... everything I should know for our children?" His dark eyes glinted with meaning.
Lilia smiled. "You’re already a great husband. There’s no denying it... and you’re going to be a great—"
Before she could finish, Zethan pulled her close, his lips crashing into hers in a slow, deep kiss.
Lilia’s eyes widened as she kissed him back, parting her lips to give him access. Their tongues met, dancing in sync as the kiss deepened. Fireworks seemed to explode in their minds with the maddening sweetness of the moment.
They both pulled away softly, Lilia gasping for air.
"Do you really think I’ll be a great dad... and not scare my kids the way I did that little boy?" Zethan asked, his deep tone filled with quiet concern.
Lilia smiled warmly.
"Of course not. You won’t. No denying it—our kids will be beautiful and handsome. With a husband like you, it’s impossible not to have the cutest and prettiest babies in the whole wide world."
Zethan’s lips curved into a genuine smile. He reached out, cupping her face with both hands, and to Lilia’s surprise, he began to kiss her softly—first the tip of her nose, then one cheek, then the other, then her lips, then her forehead. He just kept showering her with gentle kisses.
Lilia’s heart pounded with happiness at the adorable gesture.
"Oh my, my husband is so cute today," she said, laughing.
Zethan grinned.
"Oh really? Then enjoy it now, because tonight..." He paused, then leaned in and bit her lower lip softly, grazing it before pulling away.
"I’m going to f*ck you like the devil tonight, sweetheart."
Lilia’s eyes flew wide, cheeks flaming, but before she could react, a rolling cart entered the room—it was Evie. She moved gracefully and professionally, placing a covered plate on the table before bowing and leaving. A soft smile briefly touched her lips, disappearing the moment she turned.
"Open it, loris," Zethan said.
Lilia nodded, lifting the lid. Her eyes widened in surprise. On the plate was a neatly crafted chocolate slab, and in delicate icing, it read:
L I L I A —with a little heart shape at the end.
Her heart swelled with joy as she threw her arms around him.
"Oh my! Thank you so much, Zethan!" she exclaimed, overflowing with emotion.
She picked up the heart-shaped piece and popped it into her mouth. And before Zethan could even process it, her lips crashed into his in another deep, grateful kiss.
Her emotions poured into the kiss. She hadn’t expected this at all—he remembered. He remembered. Why did this man keep making her feel so addicted to him?
He was just too caring, too thoughtful. She felt like one day she might actually explode from how happy he made her.
Still kissing, she gently pushed the piece of chocolate into his mouth, and he passed it back into hers, their tongues moving together until the sweet melted between them. When she finally pulled away, her lips were flushed, her breathing uneven.
Then she moved again, slowly, and licked the side of his lips.
Zethan’s lips curved into a slow, sinful smile. He stuck out his tongue, deliberately licking the exact spot she had just kissed.
Lilia leaned closer, brushing her lips against the shell of his ear, her voice soft but heavy with desire.
"Now I’m really curious on our journey tonight, Mr. Daddy," she whispered, her tongue trailing along his earlobe.
