Urban Super Soldier King-Chapter 886: The Confusion Brought by the Bomb
Chapter 886: Chapter 886: The Confusion Brought by the Bomb
Xiang Yu really felt speechless toward Gao Zhitao—this kid was just way too familiar. Xiang Yu stood there ignoring him, while Zhitao kept babbling nonstop.
While Xiang Yu was searching for something at the watch display, Zhitao was sitting casually on the counter, chattering endlessly.
"If you don’t shut up, I’m going to throw you off the building," Xiang Yu threatened directly.
Gao Zhitao hurriedly shut his mouth after hearing this. At that moment, Xiang Yu’s phone suddenly rang—it was Ren Baohe calling.
"Looks like you’re starting to take action now, huh? Seems like your brothers are really important to you," Ren Baohe chuckled darkly.
He’d previously told Xiang Yu that for every bomb that went off, he would kill one of the brothers close to Xiang Yu.
"Ren Baohe, don’t you dare act recklessly. I’ll definitely dismantle all your bombs," Xiang Yu said hastily.
He really worried that this madman might target someone else. Right now, Xiang Yu was most concerned about Su Yongzhen and the others.
Back when Ren Baohe planted a bomb on the racetrack, Xiang Yu had defused it. Ren Baohe knew about Xiang Yu’s relationship with Su Yongzhen.
"We’ll see what happens after you dismantle them. If you can’t, don’t blame me. Haha..." Ren Baohe said before abruptly hanging up the phone.
Xiang Yu put his phone away and saw Gao Zhitao staring at him dumbfounded. Without hesitation, Xiang Yu kicked Zhitao, sending him tumbling to the side.
Feeling wronged, Gao Zhitao picked himself up and complained, "I didn’t provoke you—why kick me?"
Xiang Yu couldn’t be bothered to deal with him and resumed his search. Zhitao stayed quiet, leaning on the counter boredly, watching Xiang Yu rummage.
A few minutes later, Xiang Yu suddenly found a box deep in the watch display. The box was made of red wood, looked quite exquisite, and seemed to house a high-end clock or watch.
"Do you know what kind of watch this is? It’s a collector’s edition Swiss gold watch, limited worldwide. Didn’t expect you to have good taste," Gao Zhitao remarked casually, still sprawled over the counter.
Xiang Yu ignored him and opened the box. Inside was a miniature bomb.
The wires were tangled in a complex mess, looking utterly chaotic.
"Hold this—it’s just a time bomb," Xiang Yu said, placing it in Zhitao’s arms.
The bomb startled Gao Zhitao so much he nearly collapsed. He wanted to throw it away immediately but feared an explosion might occur.
"W-what is this? What if it explodes?" Zhitao stammered, trembling.
"Stay steady and don’t move. If it goes off, we both die," Xiang Yu replied matter-of-factly.
In truth, Xiang Yu was just bluffing. The bomb was rigged to a timer but could also be remote-controlled.
But since Zhitao had mentioned that it wouldn’t detonate until noon tomorrow, Xiang Yu was confident it wouldn’t go off now.
Zhitao began to regret his decision. Xiang Yu had warned him earlier to leave, but he hadn’t heeded that advice. Now, he couldn’t walk away even if he wanted to.
After defusing the small bomb, Xiang Yu moved on to his next target.
The bomb wasn’t big and clearly didn’t have the power to destroy the entire floor. That meant there was definitely another bomb in the building.
This miniature bomb was merely a trigger—a signaling device Ren Baohe had placed to facilitate remote activation.
Zhitao, still clutching the bomb, didn’t dare say a word and trailed carefully behind Xiang Yu.
To Zhitao, Xiang Yu now resembled the grim reaper. He regretted staying behind with him, lamenting his previous decision to avoid leaving outright.
"Bro, exactly how many bombs are there in total?" Zhitao asked weakly from behind.
"Stop talking and just hold onto it," Xiang Yu snapped impatiently.
Zhitao had a tendency to ramble endlessly, and Xiang Yu didn’t want him starting again.
In another corner of the same floor, Xiang Yu found another bomb—this one much larger than the one Zhitao was holding. Clearly, this was the primary explosive.
Seeing this bomb, Zhitao nearly collapsed in fear. If it went off while they were still on the same floor, survival would be out of the question.
Xiang Yu knew he’d been lucky to find these two bombs. Other bombs on different floors would be much harder to locate.
The building was dozens of stories tall. Searching floor by floor was going to be grueling—not just physically but mentally.
Earlier in the day, Xiang Yu and two others had gone through the building four times, but that was just a cursory scan. Searching for hidden traps was an entirely different matter.
If they’d caught Ren Baohe earlier, it would have made things much easier. Xiang Yu had many ways to make him talk.
He hadn’t come here tonight just to hunt for bombs—his main objective had been capturing Ren Baohe.
But success had slipped through his fingers, all thanks to a sneeze from Gao Zhitao.
Thinking of this, Xiang Yu grew irate and turned to glare at Zhitao.
Startled, Zhitao quickly jumped back, looking at Xiang Yu in terror. "Don’t do anything reckless! I’m holding a bomb here—it could go off!"
Xiang Yu saw his reaction was swift enough and decided to let it go. Instead, he continued thinking of solutions.
There were at least three more bombs somewhere in the building, and possibly even more. Although Ren Baohe claimed there were five in total, Xiang Yu didn’t trust a single word he said.
Sitting there, Xiang Yu couldn’t help but sigh. If they were in the military, this would be far easier.
The army had specialized equipment that could effortlessly locate any nearby bombs.
But now, with empty hands, Xiang Yu felt like he was searching for a needle in a haystack—a frustrating and futile endeavor.
"C-could there still be more bombs hidden?" Zhitao asked hesitantly.
Xiang Yu ignored him, continuing to rack his brain. If he had a blueprint of the building’s layout, things would be much simpler. He could calculate where the bombs might be hidden based on the plan.
Ren Baohe, being a professional demolitions expert, surely knew the optimal places to plant explosives for maximum effect.
"I have a way to find them," Gao Zhitao said, somewhat smugly.
Xiang Yu finally turned his gaze toward him. "What way?"
Zhitao, sensing Xiang Yu’s interest, grinned and placed the red box down as he prepared to step forward.
"Hold onto that thing and don’t move," Xiang Yu ordered brusquely.
In such a tense moment, Xiang Yu really didn’t want Zhitao rambling again.
"When I was a kid, my grandpa gave me a toy..."
"Stop with the useless stories. Just tell me how to find the bombs," Xiang Yu interrupted.
Zhitao, although cut off, didn’t seem annoyed. He continued, "That’s exactly what I was talking about! My grandpa gave me this toy—it was an instrument for detecting metal explosives like these."
Xiang Yu frowned slightly as he listened. This kid could talk a lot, but he didn’t seem entirely unreliable this time.
"What did your grandfather do?" Xiang Yu asked, puzzled.
In theory, such detection devices should only exist within the military—a rarity in civilian life. But now Zhitao was claiming his grandpa had given him one in childhood. It sounded implausible...
