Unrivaled Soldier in the City-Chapter 363: Feeling Sour
Jayne had not expected this to happen. His expression changed dramatically, but it was already too late for him to retreat. At that moment, Beta lunged, viciously stabbing his dagger toward the nape of Lin Kuang's neck. It seemed that if Lin Kuang killed Jayne, Beta would kill Lin Kuang in turn. Seeing this, Jayne breathed a sigh of relief. He didn't care about his own life. He would gladly die if it meant Beta could kill Lin Kuang.
However, they both seemed to have underestimated Lin Kuang. Despite the danger, he could still counterattack.
Lin Kuang sneered. The next moment, his right leg shot up, delivering a savage back kick toward Beta's abdomen. The kick was so fast and fierce that it caught Beta completely by surprise. If he continued his advance, he would be kicked in the stomach before he ever reached Lin Kuang. Beta knew that if the kick landed, he would be gravely injured, if not killed outright. But if he retreated, Jayne would surely die. If Jayne died and he failed to kill Lin Kuang, it would be a terrible trade.
If I don't dodge, I'll definitely be hit. Then I'll be injured and Jayne will be dead, leaving even less hope of finishing off Lin Kuang. A wave of helplessness washed over him as he gritted his teeth.
And so, Beta retreated swiftly, instantly dodging Lin Kuang's kick.
Although Beta avoided the attack, Jayne wasn't so lucky. With blinding speed, Lin Kuang's sword, Nameless, pierced through Jayne's throat. He died on the spot. Jayne's eyes were wide with unwillingness, but even in death, he knew that Beta never stood a chance of killing Lin Kuang.
Seeing Jayne dead, the murderous intent in Beta's eyes intensified. Ever since their debut, Jayne and Beta had been inseparable. They undertook missions together and were the closest of friends. Now that Jayne was dead, how could Beta not look devastated?
"King of the Underworld, I will kill you!" Beta screamed, his face twisting in fury.
He charged at Lin Kuang like a madman. The two of them together had been no match for Lin Kuang; alone, Beta stood even less of a chance. Now that he had fallen into a Mad Demon state, his attacks were wild and chaotic. How could he possibly defeat Lin Kuang like this?
In a matter of moments, Lin Kuang's sword pierced Beta's arm. Following that, Lin Kuang landed a vicious kick on Beta's abdomen, sending him flying. The blow severely injured Beta. He lay on the ground, gasping for breath as blood gushed from his mouth. His face was as pale as paper, and he looked as though he could die at any second.
Lin Kuang walked over and looked down at him. Then, without a second thought, he swung his sword. The blade pierced Beta's throat, killing him instantly.
Seeing that Beta was dead, Lin Kuang turned and left. He got into his car and sped away, leaving nothing behind at the battle site but two bloody corpses.
Lin Kuang drove back to Lin Guo'er's villa, arriving close to eleven o'clock at night. In the hall, the three women had not gone to bed and were clearly waiting for him. When they saw his car drive up, they all breathed a collective sigh of relief.
"This guy is finally back. He's always making people worry," Lin Guo'er grumbled as she watched Lin Kuang get out of the car.
"Then you could choose not to worry," Liu Shilin teased with a smile.
"Tch! I like the feeling, so what?" Lin Guo'er retorted, glaring at Liu Shilin.
Hearing this, Liu Shilin was left speechless, though she was already used to Lin Guo'er's unconventional responses.
Just then, Lin Kuang walked into the hall with a grin. "Ladies, I'm back," he announced.
"So what if you're back? What's all the shouting for? Hmph! I'm going to bed!" Lin Guo'er snapped, rolling her eyes at him before turning and storming upstairs.
Seeing this, Lin Kuang couldn't help but scratch his head, looking at Liu Shilin and the Witch in confusion. What's wrong with that girl? Why is she so prickly?
"You promised Guo'er you'd taste her cooking, but then you left for the evening. That's why she's mad," Liu Shilin explained with a smile.
"Huh? Just for that? She's being way too petty," Lin Kuang said, a little dejected.
"Oh, come on. Guo'er's just saying that; she's not really angry. Let's go, time to head upstairs and rest," Liu Shilin said. As she spoke, a blush crept onto her lovely face, because they would be sleeping together tonight.
"I'm going to sleep first. You two take your time," the Witch said with a red face before turning and running upstairs. I'm not sticking around to be a third wheel. Although, it seems I already have been for a little while...
"Ahem. Shilin, my dear, want me to carry you upstairs?" Lin Kuang asked with a playful grin, noticing her blush.
Liu Shilin rolled her eyes at him. "No need, I can go up myself. You go take a shower!" With that, she turned and headed upstairs.
Watching her graceful figure retreat, Lin Kuang chuckled to himself and went upstairs to wash up.
After his shower, Lin Kuang returned to Liu Shilin's room. Seeing her already lying in bed, he smiled and was about to make his move.
"You received a text. It's from that big star, Fan Bingbing," Liu Shilin said, turning over. Her tone was a little sour.
"Uh, you saw it?" Lin Kuang asked awkwardly.
"Hmph. I couldn't be bothered to look. See for yourself," Liu Shilin huffed, tossing the phone to him.
Lin Kuang caught it with a grin and looked at the message from Fan Bingbing. It was a photo she had sent. She was as beautiful as ever, though a little thinner than when he had last seen her, which only made her look more charming. He realized he truly missed her, having not spoken to her for several days. With that thought, he started chatting with her.
Fan Bingbing told him about what she'd been up to, acting cute and coquettish with him from time to time. Lin Kuang could almost picture her adorable yet alluring expression through the screen.
They chatted for nearly an hour before finally saying goodbye.
Glancing at Liu Shilin beside him, Lin Kuang asked with a grin, "My dear Shilin, are you asleep yet?"
"Hmph. I got so mad I fell asleep," she grumbled.
Hearing this, Lin Kuang chuckled and readily showed her his chat history with Fan Bingbing.
