Chapter 1562 - Escape

Chen Fan knew that certain unique immortal artifacts could give rise to artifact spirits within them, spirits whose intelligence could rival that of humans.

Such immortal artifacts were scarce because special conditions had to be met to give birth to an artifact spirit. Even after countless years of study and speculation, no one truly knew what those conditions were.

That was because every artifact that gave birth to an artifact spirit had gone through a different process.

For example, some martial artists kept their swords at their side for decades. After long years of subtle nurturing, a sword spirit would finally awaken within the steel.

Another example could be found in ancient battlefields: after millennia lying buried amid blood and bones, certain weapons would naturally develop an artifact spirit.

In short, artifacts that gave birth to spirits followed no pattern anyone could grasp; to all observers, the phenomenon appeared utterly random.

However, one thing was common knowledge: artifacts with a spirit were priceless treasures, even more precious than Sage artifacts, as there was no upper limit to their growth potential.

Imagine that, given enough time and opportunity, an artifact capable of endless growth would inevitably reach emperor-grade and might even advance further to the revered realm of Sages.

Boom!

The space exploded, and Young Master Poison emerged through the explosion, his massive hand stretching forward as he lunged for the demonic sword.

He moved with astonishing speed, nearly instant as he closed in on the demonic sword that had already transformed into a streak of light. He wanted to claim it, no matter the price, for with proper nurturing, it was almost sure to bear an artifact spirit one day.

Whoosh!

A sharp, piercing whistle split the air as a colossal arrow woven from starlight tore through the sky toward Young Master Poison. Qi Dong, one step behind, had struck.

“E Xiangtian, you can forget about taking it!”

“Damn it!”

Young Master Poison sensed a sinister gale rising at his back; he whirled on instinct, flinging his giant hand open and crushing the starry arrow, which brimmed with terrifying, destructive power. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

“Qi Dong, how dare you interfere with me taking the demonic sword? Are you looking to die? In this sealed land, no one will care even if I butcher all of you!” roared Young Master Poison before speeding up. He had to obtain the demonic sword at all costs.

“Haha, E Xiangtian, your bragging really knows no bounds. Do you honestly think you can kill me? If you do, come and try. I will not be the one running!” Qi Dong sneered, cold and disdainful, releasing another arrow that screamed through the air and once more barred Young Master Poison from the demonic sword.

The demonic sword was about to get away, and Young Master Poison was getting anxious. He immediately roared angrily at his men, “Damn it, stop him!”

He only needed a little bit of time. If Qi Dong stopped obstructing him, Young Master Poison was sure that he could get his hands on the demonic sword.

Boom, tch!

Suddenly, a terrifying streak of sword qi tore through the air and slashed toward Young Master Poison, aiming to split him into two.

Young Master Poison’s expression immediately changed. He quickly halted and swept his palm horizontally. Huge palm seals pierced through the void, smashing the oncoming sword qi into pieces, and he roared, “Who is it?!”

A golden streak of light shot upward with lightning speed, snatching the demonic sword just as it was about to flee completely.

The person who made a move was none other than Chen Fan.

Smack!

He directly grabbed onto the demonic sword, which immediately unleashed an overwhelming sword qi, striking Chen Fan’s palm. Despite his physique being comparable to a mid-grade immortal artifact, the sword qi left his hand covered in blood.

Simultaneously, a dreadful roar echoed faintly within the blade itself: the nascent sword spirit within the demonic sword, howling in defiance.

The formless shockwave rushed into Chen Fan’s mind at once, leaving him momentarily dizzy. However, the Bodhi Ancient Tree immediately shook, dispelling the formless force.

Chen Fan came back to his senses; a brilliant light flashed across his eyes.

“What a powerful demonic sword. It’s already given birth to the embryonic form of a sword spirit!”

By now, Young Master Poison had also spotted Chen Fan and roared angrily, “It’s you!”

How could he not recognize Chen Fan? That guy had fleeced a hundred thousand immortal stones from Shark Crown Prince at the auction, causing a huge stir. Everyone present had committed this audacious brat to their minds.

Young Master Poison had never imagined he would run into Chen Fan here, of all places, only to have the spoils he had set his sights on snatched away in front of him.

“Brat, hand over the demonic sword, and I’ll leave your corpse complete. Otherwise, you’ll experience pain worse than death!” Young Master Poison threatened fiercely, his eyes shining with bloodthirst.

“Who do you think you are!” said Chen Fan as he curled his lips, trying his best to suppress the demonic sword.

“Ahhh, you bastard, go to hell!” Young Master Poison screamed, his rage boiling over as he unleashed an enormous hand formed from noxious poisonous qi, its venom so potent it rivaled the deadliest toxins in existence. Even the surrounding demonic qi hissed and corroded wherever that hand swept past.

Qi Dong hurriedly warned, “Be careful, brother. That little poisonous insect’s signature move is the Poison Cloud Palm. The slightest touch of that poisonous qi will rot flesh and blood into foul pus, and just one breath of it is enough to kill you.”

Between allowing Young Master Poison to seize the demonic sword and watching Chen Fan take it, Qi Dong naturally chose to support Chen Fan instead.

“No worries, it’s just a little bit of poisonous qi.” Chen Fan smiled, taking things lightly.

He was immune to all poison, as the Heaven and Earth Furnace could refine all poisonous qi and toxins, unable to affect him in the slightest. It would be useless even if Young Master Poison’s attack were ten times, or even a hundred times, more poisonous.

Of course, being immune to poison was one thing, and facing Young Master Poison’s raw strength was quite another. The man was a true young master-level powerhouse, a favored prodigy on equal footing with Shark Crown Prince. In addition to its toxic nature, his palm strike possessed astonishing brute force; naturally, Chen Fan had no intention of taking it head-on like a fool.

Immediately, the Wings of Rain Dragon on his back swept up a storm, flying into the distance.

“Where do you think you’re going!”

Young Master Poison flew into a rage when his attack missed. An ant, merely in the third-level Immortal Platform realm, dared to steal his prize. He swore he would let Chen Fan experience the agony of being corroded away bit by bit.

“Hahaha, little poisonous insect, if I want to leave, you won’t catch up to me even if you grew another pair of legs.” Chen Fan laughed out loud, his voice echoing from afar.

“Ahhh, bastard! You damned bastard! I’ll remember you! You’re dead! Finished! You’ve not only offended Shark Crown Prince, but you’ve also offended me! This land will be your grave!”

Young Master Poison roared angrily and indignantly, shattering the space. He was so furious that he could vomit blood. He had to watch as Chen Fan escaped right under his nose.

Chen Fan sensed Young Master Poison’s aura gradually disappearing and sighed in relief. However, he didn’t slow down and continued flying into the distance.

He got a high-grade immortal artifact on the verge of giving birth to an artifact spirit as soon as he entered the sealed land. His luck was simply too good.
