Chapter 1532 - Heading to the Chaotic Demon Sea

Thanks to Ma Xinglong’s detailed explanation, Chen Fan understood.

The Chaotic Demon Sea was split into inner and outer zones, both ruled by the sea-demon race, a lineage born of the union of the sea tribe and the demon race.

This was one of the lasting remnants of the demon race’s invasion of the Heavenly Realm during the Middle Ancient Ages. After the demon race retreated in defeat, the scattered demons congregated in several gathering places on the Heavenly Realm.

Interestingly, the Matrka Heavenly Domain wasn’t the only place with a Chaotic Demon Sea; other domains had them too, but their size and threat level varied. Some were even ruled by full-blooded demons acting as overlords.

“We’ve received information that a Soul Nascent Grass appeared in the Chaotic Demon Sea recently. It’s an immortal herb said to heal injuries of the soul! That’s why Big Brother’s keen on this trip.” Flashing a grin, he added, “And rumor has it that a terrifying demon is sealed deep within those waters. Who knows if it’s true?”

“How powerful is it?” Chen Fan asked with a smile.

Ma Xinglong shook his head and replied, “That, I don’t know, and it’s only a rumor. No one knows if it’s real or not.”

Chen Fan nodded and asked, “Then when are you guys heading out?”

“Three days from now.”

“In that case, I’d like to explore the Chaotic Demon Sea too. Mind bringing me along?”

“What? You’re also interested in going? That’s great! Truth be told, the Chaotic Demon Sea is in a different league from Guangyuan City; it’s utterly wild and chaotic. All sorts of people gather there. Immortals are as common as dogs. Our meager strength is nothing there. We’ll be much safer if you come with us.”

“That’s decided, then. I’ll come with you in three days.”

Chen Fan’s fascination with the Chaotic Demon Sea had quickly changed his travel plans. He figured the little detour wouldn't delay his return by much. Naturally, Gongsun Jing and the others were delighted to have Chen Fan. After all, he could even toy with a fourth-level Immortal Platform expert. He only made their party far more secure.

Three days passed in the blink of an eye.

“Haha, Little Brother Chen, we all feel much more at ease with you coming with us,” Gongsun Jing said with a smile.

With the Deng Clan gone, the path was clear. Hopes of healing his and his wife’s lingering injuries ran high. And all of this, he mused, had been made possible by Chen Fan.

Reflecting on the fate, Gongsun Jing marveled that a simple, compassionate gesture earlier, offering a ride to an unconscious Chen Fan, had saved him twice. Poetic justice, he thought; sometimes the heavens really are fair.

Swish.

Just as their group was about to set off, a fragrant scent swept over as Gongsun Ling’er appeared.

“Daddy, I want to go too!” she announced, flushing as she cast a hopeful look Chen Fan’s way.

Gongsun Jing immediately straightened his face and chided, “Nonsense! You think we’re going to play? The Chaotic Demon Sea is dangerous, teeming with unpredictable people and perils. What would your mother do if you weren’t here?”

“Daddy, I promise I won’t be in any trouble. Furthermore, with this guy here, there won’t be any danger. As for Mother, she’ll be fine with so many people in the manor. I haven’t left the manor in ages. You can’t keep me caged forever. I’m not a pet bird. I want to explore too!”

“No! The discussion ends here! You’re my only daughter. How would I explain it to your mother if something happened? How would we live with that?”

“Daddy, if you don’t let me come with you, I’ll sneak after you anyway, the moment you leave!”

“You... you’ll be the death of me!”

Ma Xinglong intervened, trying to lighten the mood: “Big Brother, why not let Ling’er join us? We’ll all look after her. She won’t be able to get out of hand.”

Gongsun Ling’er immediately ran over to Ma Xinglong’s side and said with a smile, “Uncle Ma treats me the nicest.”

Helpless in the face of his daughter’s persistence, Gongsun Jing sighed and said, “Fine, you can come, but you must stay within three feet of me at all times. You absolutely can’t wander off on your own, understand?”

“I understand. I knew it, Daddy is the best.”

Gongsun Jing managed a laugh, half angry, half amused.

The Chaotic Demon Sea was over 500 thousand kilometers away from Guangyuan City. Even an Immortal would need half a month flying nonstop to reach it.

However, the swordfish ship was extremely fast, so they were at the periphery of the Chaotic Demon Sea a week later.

Whoosh, whoosh!

Before setting foot into the Chaotic Demon Sea, Chen Fan and the others felt a terrifying demonic wind blowing from the sea, turning the surrounding primeval qi into demonic qi. It was especially terrifying. Chen Fan could even hear the roars of demon beasts within.

The sea tribe dwelling in those waters wasn’t the only corrupted one; many ferocious sea beasts were transformed by demonic qi, becoming even more vicious than before. Within this stormy realm, sea demon beasts reigned as an apex threat, second only to the sea demon race themselves.

Upon arrival, their first stop was the famed Chaotic Demon City, built on the edge of the outer sea, where all travelers, whether venturing deeper or leaving the inner waters, stopped for rest and supplies.

Chen Fan’s group of six, with the exception of Gongsun Ling’er, were all in the second or third-level Immortal Platform realm. They headed straight into the Chaotic Demon City. But nobody paid them any mind, as groups like theirs were nothing special in these chaotic streets.

Chen Fan scanned his surroundings. Immortals were everywhere within the city. Those below the fourth-level Immortal Platform realm were as numerous as the hair on a bull. They would not produce a single splash if they were thrown into the crowd.

Occasionally, higher-level experts barreled through and, if unlucky, you might get bowled over or even killed; nobody even blinked at such sights.

“Whoa, so this is the Chaotic Demon City, huh? It’s indeed very chaotic.”

“Ah, what is that? It looks delicious!”

“Ah, how could that person act like that, charging straight through. Someone died from the impact.”

It was Gongsun Ling’er’s first adventure here, and her excitement, like a curious little sparrow, could barely be contained. If not for her father’s watchful eye, she’d already be off exploring every nook and cranny.

Evidently, Gongsun Jing and the others had come to the Chaotic Demon City in the past and were familiar with their way around.

As for Chen Fan, he played it cool, though, truthfully, it was also his first time here, and he could only rely on their lead.
