Chapter 134: The Plan (Part 3)

As Adyr approached, Malrik finally noticed him. He gave a command, and the Frost Wyvern beneath him shifted midair before gliding in Adyr’s direction.

"Little brother! I knew you’d come!" He called out with a booming laugh, sincere and unguarded.

He didn’t seem surprised by Adyr’s wings—nor should he have been. After all, he himself was riding a knockoff dragon.

The two other Rank 3 practitioners noticed Adyr as well, but kept their focus locked on Colossith, ready for anything that might go wrong.

"Yeah. I couldn’t just sit and watch while people’s lives were in danger," Adyr said, forcing a bitter smile. As if he were some priest devoted to saving the innocent, not a man with a past soaked in blood.

Malrik didn’t see through the mask. His expression softened.

"You’ve got a good heart, brother," he said. Then continued, his voice more practical now. "For the time being, we’ve got the situation under control. But by nightfall, Lady Liora’s strength will run out. She’ll need at least an hour of rest. If you can support us during that gap, we’d be grateful. No need to put yourself in danger—if you have any long-range abilities that create sustained vibration, that’ll be enough. Colossith slows down whenever it detects a sudden surge in ambient tremor. If we can simulate that for an hour, it’ll buy us the time we need. Don’t worry—any energy you spend, we’ll compensate."

It was a reasonable request. And conveniently, Adyr had a skill perfect for it: Sonic Burst.

But of course, that wasn’t why he had come.

"Actually, I have a better idea. I came to share it with you," Adyr said as he hovered effortlessly in the air, wings beating in slow rhythm.

"An idea?" Malrik raised a brow, clearly skeptical but willing to listen.

"I’m aware this Spark feeds on vibrations—especially on the feedback loops created by its own tremors," Adyr said, watching Malrik nod in recognition before continuing.

"I have a device that can reflect those vibrations back. If it works, it could help the Spark reach saturation faster and return to its dormant state."

He let that sink in before adding the important detail.

"I bought it from a blacksmith in a city I passed through. Thought it might come in handy someday. It was expensive, but the material is incredibly durable. When I saw your situation, I realized you might have better use for it than I ever would."

As he spoke, Malrik’s eyes widened. He knew that some kingdoms possessed advanced tech—he’d seen glimpses of it in his youth while traveling. So Adyr’s plan didn’t sound impossible.

"Brother, whether it works or not, you have our thanks. And if it does work, I promise we’ll repay you tenfold for the loss," Malrik said excitedly, barely able to contain his hope.

Over the years, they had thrown more than 20 practitioners at Colossith, and still couldn’t contain it. Now only four of them remained. Liora, once unstoppable, had begun to weaken. Each year left more scars, more fatigue. This might be their last chance—and there was no guarantee they’d succeed.

Their only backup plan, a Rank 4 Nether-path practitioner who had vowed to assist them, never showed up. Not even a message.

So even a sliver of hope, like Adyr’s offer, sounded logical now.

"Wait for me, I’ll inform the others and come help you right after," Malrik said, turning his Frost Wyvern to head back.

But Adyr stopped him. ’’No need. You stay here, they might need you. I’ll find a few people and handle the setup myself.’’

Malrik looked at him with quiet gratitude. Adyr hadn’t just devised a strategy to save them; he’d also shown consideration for the moment, and in doing so, won even more of Malrik’s trust.

"Brother, if this works, we’ll drink from the same cup. You’ll be one of us—family. I promise," Malrik said, then turned and flew back toward the others.

Adyr smirked.

Winning the trust and brotherhood of Astra-path practitioners was turning out to be easier than expected.

Adyr wasted no time. He beat his wings and flew straight back to the Draven mansion.

’’Lord Draven, I need your help for something,’’ Adyr said as he landed.

’’Anything, Lord Adyr. Just say the word. And please, call me with just my name,’’ Orven replied with deep respect.

While Adyr’s title was earned through power and ability, Orven’s felt hollow—something granted by wealth and inheritance.

’’Then, Orven, I need 50 men. People who understand carpentry, furniture work, or blacksmithing. Anyone with those kinds of skills will do,’’ Adyr said. freēnovelkiss.com

Orven didn’t fully understand the reason behind the request, but he could tell it had something to do with Colossith. His response came with a mix of energy and gratitude.

’’Of course, Lord Adyr. Just give me one hour—no, half an hour. I’ll gather a hundred men with the skills you need.’’

After a simple ’’Thank you’’ from Adyr, he immediately set to work.

He first gathered all the knights under the Draven household and gave them a quick briefing. Then he sent them into the city to search. Orven didn’t waste time requesting a carriage—he mounted a horse himself and rode out to neighboring households, delivering Adyr’s message and asking for their help.

Vesha, for a moment, thought of helping as well, but then reconsidered. Staying at Adyr’s side would be more useful. Her father already had the coordination well in hand. More importantly, if Adyr needed anything during this process, someone had to be there to assist him.

Adyr watched the quiet chaos and unfolding plans in silence, quietly approving. Everything seemed to be moving smoothly, and there was no need to worry about the outcome. While waiting, he focused his eyes on the tension between the Rank 4 practitioner and the Rank 4 Spark.

It wasn’t a real fight, but even from this motionless clash, he could extract fragments of power and begin forming a basic understanding, just enough to compare against his own strength.

Just by looking at the sheer size and mass of the two titans, Adyr could already estimate the amount of raw power they were capable of generating.

His strength score of 125, the one he got back at Player Headquarters, felt like some high schooler’s math grade compared to theirs.

After some observation, Adyr estimated that, in terms of raw physical power, their strength would likely fall somewhere between 3000 and 4000 if measured by PTF standards.

Of course, that number was based solely on what they were currently displaying, and it only accounted for destructive force.

But even that was enough to make Adyr’s face tighten. With that level of power, either one of them could likely crush him in a single blow, like stepping on an insect.

I need to register new talents, Adyr thought silently, arms folded across his chest.

The fastest way to grow stronger was through talent registration, but that required a significant amount of energy. He could also evolve by binding a new Spark, but first, he needed to find one that was suitable.

Hopefully, this tactic works and earns me a decent price, a faint smile touched his lips.

Aside from this, he still had the gear he looted from the Cannibal, stored in Dawn Land, and a 50% discount at the merit shop. If everything went according to plan, he could turn all of it into a favorable energy trade.

As his eyes remained fixed on the Rank 4 Spark, something deep within the darkness inside him began to stir.

He didn’t have the power to face such a creature yet, but the path to that level no longer felt out of reach.
